I disagree. Where has Cortese stated that he didn't think Adkins would keep us up so had to change manager for that reason? Cortese's decision wasn't about trying to change our odds of staying up or not (per se), it was about installing the man he wanted to take us forward in the longer term.
@pn_neil_allen: Two Tony Adams stories today on the 4th anniversary of his #Pompey sacking. Lifting the lid on start of meltdown. http://t.co/UNKQ6O5o
@pn_neil_allen: Tony Adams story number 2. The #Pompey targets that got away - Dzeko, Toure and more. http://t.co/Zh4U4ciL
Confirmation, if any was needed, that their cup and premiership runs were based on unsustainable funding. #cheats
Or, the alternative view...
Targett not in U18 team today...(has he been playing in U21s recently?)
@TomCoull: Saints U18s (vs Bolton U18s): Britt, Leggett, McCarthy, Mugabi, Wood, Gape, Ariybi, Flannigan, McQueen, Gallagher, Reed. (11am ko) #saintsfc
Based on injury assumptions, I'd go with this today:
Boruc
Clyne - Yoshida - Forren - Targett
Cork - Schneiderlin
Rodriguez - Davis - Lallana
Lambert
Subs: Davis, Fox, Hooiveld, Puncheon, Chaplow, JWP, Mayuka
That hypothesis assumes that form couldn't/wouldn't have dipped under Adkins. Form is temporary - bottom line is we'll never know how things would have evolved under Adkins therefore we can't logically judge Pochettino against Adkins at the end of the season.
When people say "we'll know at the end of the season whether or not Cortese made the right decision to change managers in January", how exactly will we know?
If we get relegated under Pochettino we'll never know where we would have finished under Adkins. If we finish 3rd from bottom under Pochettino who's to say we wouldn't have finished 2nd from bottom or in last place under Adkins?
Relegation under Pochettino doesn't automatically mean that Cortese made the wrong decision.
@pn_neil_allen: 4 years ago tomorrow Tony Adams was sacked. He lifts lid on start of #Pompey financial demise in tomorrow's News. Edin Dzeko for £8m anyone?
If he's talking about the game tomorrow then my read-between-the-lines on that tweet is that he's in the starting 11. That would mess with my head too at his age and experience
