  1. Serious injury usually
  2. Agree with the crux of that - the only point we differ on is that I have a hunch that he didn't, in that split second, consciously decide to con the ref into giving a penalty. I've no scientific evidence to back this up. It's just what I feel. If that's a thought crime then guilty as charged.
  3. In that instinctual moment that he saw the player coming at him how was he supposed to work out what the likely outcome was? Take the other night...I was sitting on the sofa with the Lady Trousers and she suddenly pointed at something. I flinched as all I saw out of the corner of my eye was a finger coming in my direction. Cue the missus saying "what on earth did you flinch for you silly bugger? My finger was nowhere near you" Now, if I had an instant replay of my wife's finger coming twoards me and the benefit of hindsight I wouldn't have over-reacted as much as I did. The fact that the player's lunge turned out not to be as dangerous as it might of been is neither here nor there. It's perfectly possible for a human being to instinctively react as if a worst case scenario is about to happen even when it doesn't. Human nature. Controlling what we do since c.145,654 BC
  4. Didn't he only withdraw his bid 'in protest' as result of PKF giving the Trust preferred bidder status? My point being that if the Trust were to pull out tomorrow then Chainrai would inevitably come back into the process ergo, the Trust aren't the last resort per se. Also, for all we know there could be other bidders in the wings who can't make a move due to the exclusivity that PKF continue to grant the Trust. Much in the same way that Liebherr and Cortese came in at the last minute once the Pinnacle bid collapsed. Bottom line is that there is no certainty that the Trust are the one and only hope for the club as things stand, thus the condition of the council loan isn't necessarily met. That said, I would still like the PDT to takeover for the chuckle factor alone...
  5. The council's loan was conditional on the Trust having the only bid on the table.... Edit: sorry, just seen that Minsk beat me to it Edit #2: that said, I suppose there's nothing stopping the council having another vote on the matter...either way, if it turns out that taxpayers money is used to prop up an organisation that has previously diddled said taxpayer out of c.£50m then the stench should at least penetrate the national media love-in, shouldn't it...? #dontholdyourbreath
  6. Reality is one thing, perception another. I wouldn't let my kids walk to / from school on their own when primary school age a few years back. #sadsignofthetimes
  7. Blatant dive at 02:13 - he'll fit in nicely...
  8. I admire your optimism
  9. Lottery numbers for this weekend please sir
  10. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2261773/Notts-County-fan-view-postponed-game-Portsmouth.html http://www.thenottsblog.co.uk/2013/01/an-open-letter-to-portsmouth-fc/
  11. Ian Darke ‏@IanDarkeESPN Another appeal - please someone somewhere give me some good news for Pompey soon. But are we down hearted ? Er yes.
  12. The court case tomorrow is billed as a non event - just a date setting exercise for the real thing ....or so we're led to believe....
  13. One assumes they have undersoil heating at Stamford Bridge...?
  14. How do we know for sure that the game would've taken the same course had Saints not been awarded a penalty at that stage of the game?
  15. http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/pompey/departing-star-open-to-pompey-return-1-4678096 Hmmm...something not quite adding up there.....Pompey player says he would take pay cut but Birch getting rid of players regardless....now, why would he be taking that approach, I wonder, especially when the Trust are on the cusp of a glorious takeover...
  16. http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/pompey/whittingham-explains-williamson-finale-absence-1-4678087 So, he didn't play Williamson in case he picked up a career threatening injury yet the same logic didn't apply to the other players in exactly the same position? Come on guy, if you're going to adopt the Pompey spin method of communication at least come up with a consistent story...
  17. Assuming this report is true, what I don't get is why would Birch start stripping the club down to its bare bones a few days before the next court case if the Trust were "poised" to announce they'd found another c.£4m under the sofa? Doesn't add up (just for a change!)
  18. In the words of Jim Royle.... "Community club my arse!" Still, I'm sure the astute national media will see through this "fan owned club" myth when they report the takeover (should it happen)...oh...
  19. Sycophancy alert! @pn_neil_allen: Dumbuya bids his farewell with a message for the #Pompey fans. http://t.co/C3d21Hvn
  20. No idea. I'm not as expert as some on here so will stick with my hunch that Rodriguez didn't try and con the ref into giving a penalty.
