  1. This can only mean one thing....Cortese beat the FA to Redknapp's signature... ;-)

  4. Is the poll for who we think will go up or who we want to go up? Cheers

    Adkins off?

Just listened to the interview a few times on the trot. Hmm....I'd agree with those who say it was an odd thing for him to say....but he started going on one of his "look at what I've achieved" dialogues....he was talking about how he hadn't achieved what he wanted to as a goalkeeper through injuries and other circumstances and how he then threw himself into the physiotherapy job. He kept saying how he wants to be best in whatever he does...and he went back to his days as a Sunday league manager, taking Bangor to the Welsh Championship twice, his achievements at S****horpe etc. I think by that point in the interview he realised he was telling his life story and his emotions took that to the next logical phase in his mind, and that was looking to the future. He let his guard down and projected himself almost too far into the future but I'm sure it was born out of a desire to complete the "life story" he was telling to the interviewer. I did feel there was an element of insecurity in his telling of his "story" and that he knows how ruthless Cortese is. I've sort of been there myself in my job in the dim and distant past. You want to be the best at what you do but there is always this nagging doubt that your boss (the chap who you are slightly fearful of because he is such a strong minded character) wouldn't hesitate in replacing you if he felt it was the right thing to do. I've had bosses like that and you find yourself (a) over egging your achievements in appraisals and (b) pre-empting a worst case scenario in your mind as a sort of security blanket. Anyway, no doubt we're all thinking way too hard about this and it was simply an innocent Nigel ramble that will all be forgotten about when we're top of the premier league next October.... ;-)
  6. @jackcork1: Loving the lads who took my boot and keep sending me pics drinking out of it last night. #lads Ha ha
  7. According to the BBC commentary yesterday, he's our only player to feature in every championship match day squad. A great achievement for him. A superb young player with his best yet to come IMO. Made an instant impact when he came on yesterday. Only shame is that he didn't get on the scoresheet but underlines how much this year's success was down to team ethics. Cork is another player whom I expect to excel in the premier league.
  8. Check the court appearance lists tomorrow morning is usually the best bet ;-)
  9. No...wait for the end of the current prem season....THEN you can sing it for 3 months solid :-)
  10. We can still sing that as we kick off the first game of the season! (assuming all first day prem games kick off at the same time)
  11. To me, one of the big differences next season will be the fact that we will have more subs on the bench. The 5 subs rule has really stifled our natural instinct to blood some of the youngsters. As such, even though we'll be a league higher, I would expect to see more of the youngsters coming through next season, which is great news. The football league really shot themselves in the foot with this rule. They obviously brought it in to thwart clubs with money filling their benches with superstars but it has had the effect of cutting off the path between academy and first team. This is the first season I can remember in a long time where there wasn't one 'revelatory' new face from the academy ranks making the first team squad regularly by the end of the season. Viva la Premier League!!
  12. Whilst luck played a part, our decent infrastructure made it a much better investment opportunity than most other 'available' clubs at the time. As such, in those dark months of administration I always believed we would get 'lucky'.
  13. Interesting. Didn't realise that. Fair play though. Shows our willingness to pay our relatively small debts as opposed to avoiding them like the plague.
  14. Btw, Anyone got a cure for grinning from ear to ear....? This is starting to ache!
  15. Just watched that again this morning. Made me chuckle! He'd probably been cacking himself for the last 20 mins trying to work out his best exit strategy.
  16. Thank you Markus.
  17. I went for top this season. Going for 8th next season. COYR!
  18. I can't decide between Guly, Morgan and Fonte. Special mention for the unsung Butterfield who I thought ran his socks off for us yesterday.
  19. My hangover should be much worse than it is. I think the 2nd wave euphoria endorphins have kicked in!!!
  20. Just woken up. Ouch...my head hurts. One second....*pinches self* Ouch again....yes, it all happened!
