I think a more significant marker in terms of 'progress' over the last few weeks is, as someone else posted the other day, that every week for the last few weeks we have got one point closer to 12th. If that relative form continued then we would inevitably catch up with the 12th place team before the end of the season... Alas, I don't think that pattern will continue and I still think we're down regardless.

Walcott effectively expressed the same philosophy in his interview with Adam Blackmore after the game yesterday, so you're in good company. (Either that or you're both equally bonkers... )

Btw, have watched several of his post match interviews and it strikes me he talks very much like a manager and comes across very well. Future Saints gaffer in the making...?

Totally agree that we're missing a clinical striker (or two) but I've just watched the highlights of today's game and ("I know it's a cliché but...") it was more a case of fine margins rather than our finishing being woeful, per se. If that JWP free-kick skims the underside of the bar rather than the top of the bar, or that KWP effort is 2 centimetres to the right and goes in off the post then we come away with 3 points. Again, cliché territory, but I think we win more games than not if we play to the level we played today.

Indeed. I watched the first half but missed the second half. Found out the final score about an hour after full time and was elated. I've just read back through the match thread from half time onwards and it sounds like we had two efforts hit the woodwork and one cleared off the line and yet there are loads of posts saying we lacked a cutting edge. I don't doubt we have one of the bluntest attacking departments in the league but it sounds like we had enough decent chances today that didn't go in due to fine margins rather than not creating enough chances. Anyway, great result... and a win Vs Brentford would upgrade it to a massive result. Lets get some positive vibes going! COYS!
