Same team or time to inject a few fresh legs? http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/articles/article.php?page_id=11467 Saints' Dutch coach refused to use 'tiredness' as an excuse for his team's first defeat in four matches. Southampton came off second best against promotion chasing Birmingham City at St. Andrew's, but according to Wotte, the recent glut of fixtures was not behind Saints' 1-0 defeat. "It was obviously a third game in a week for Birmingham too," he said, "so it's an easy excuse but I won't use it. "Maybe, you never know, not a lot of players are used to playing this kind of rhythm to play Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday, Tuesday, with so much pressure. "We gave three matches everything, 100 per cent, and I think you need to keep it as simple as possible. We will have to make a quick switch to two home games and we have to be as good as the matches against Cardiff and Preston North End to beat both Derby and QPR and it's a big challenge for us." Wotte will also be expecting improved performances from many of the players who he felt weren't up to their recent high standards against Birmingham. "I thought Chris Perry and Kelvin Davis played an excellent game yesterday, but the rest could play better. "Our strikers didn't show as much quality as they have over the last couple of weeks. Marek and Jason and Matt Paterson, they were trying, but I think the two central defenders of Birmingham City played an excellent game as well and I give credit to them. "David McGoldrick had a very poor game I thought and I took him off at half time. Matt Paterson came on and he will always give you a lot of passion and he's trying. "They had to rotate with Jason Euell in the hole, because Jason's strong as well up front. But I felt that we couldn't win anything in the air, so then you have to change your play and you have to play more on the floor. "A 1-0 defeat at Birmingham City is not disgraceful, but it's frustrating that we didn't compete with them to get a point at least."

If that's the case, why didn't Wotte switch to a more defensive starting line-up?

Why did we change from US to UK (or visa versa) server/supplier a few months ago? It was working 'ok' before then....We seem to be trying to dig ourselves out of a hole that we dug ourselves in the first place? (sorry for asking this ad infinitum. There's a fair chance that an answer will shut me up though.... )
-
But things were "ok" on here (Saintsweb forum) until about Christmas/new year time at which point (I believe) the server/provider was moved to the USA from the UK. Can't we just go back to where we were when saintsweb first started?
-
I suspect the truth has been.....
-
This forum was working fine until switching servers/service at the turn of the year. If it ain't broke don't fix it? Just a thought.
-
Does this mean we've given up on getting the forum working as good as it used to on match days or is this just an interim measure?

Was Lowe a lot closer to being right than we give him credit for?

Which begs the follow up question...."Who introduce van der Waals to Lowe?" Pullis? -
Or this one?
-
What, this one...?

It's only a planet, FFS

I'm just Googling for an accompanying picture as we speak. One sec....

Wotte was an intrinsic part of the "seamless team" that got us to where we were after 28 games, so to invite him to leave at the time of the initial march wasn't illogical. It's only since the protests and marches began that Wotte has made decent progress by instigating different tactics. So, no "confusion". Quite the opposite. HTH

Wotton. I always had an inkling we should swap an attacking midfielder for a defensive one against Brum. Fate could be dealing us an opportunistic hand here....or not as the case may be...
-
Surely there's no obligation to take up these extra cost benefits, is there?

Club statement: Saints boss Mark Wotte has issued the following statement in response to recent stories in press regarding Bradley Wright-Phillips and David McGoldrick. Wotte said: "I am aware of the allegations that have been made against my players. I have spoken to them both at length where they have explained to me what happened that night and I will support them 100%. "We are unable to comment any further at this time as the matter is under police investigation, however, I can assure our fans that everyone at the Club remains focused on the remainder of the season." http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/articles/article.php?page_id=11461

Congrats to Saga - well deserved http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/articles/article.php?page_id=11459 Saganowski said: "I would like to thank all the Southampton fans who voted for me since January. It means a lot to me and I hope I can score even more goals before the end of the season. "Against Preston and Ipswich we fought harder than perhaps ever before. We played for each other more and we posed more of a threat in the last 16 yards of the pitch - Something you must do to score more goals. Most of all, though, we played with a better, more positive spirit. "If we were to repeat that kind of performance for the rest of the season, we'd win virtually all our remaining games because there are some very good players here."

From the man who predicted Ipswich 0 - Saints 3..... Birmingham 1 Southampton 2

Fair play GreenTreeFrog. I'll step down from my provocative podium for now Agree we should all get behind the team and manager from here on in. I'm actually warming to Wotte and believe he could become a bit of a legend in due course....funnier things have happened.... COYR!!!

Count me in. Charge spectators a quid to spread the cost per player though....

Just for the record, it's not my "argument" it was a semi-hypothetical question. I actually agree with the supplementary "why Poortvliet?" question and indeed have asked it many times without any ITK replies...
