I disagree that "most people" had the playoffs down as an unrealistic target. As recently as just before Christmas Pardew himself was saying that they were now a realstic target. It's only the last handful of games whereby it's become more unrealistic than realstic.

Didn't he say he only wanted a six month sabatical though? I appreciate that may have been a throw away quote though, assuming I recall it correctly of course

How do we know that Coppell hasn't been involved in some capacity behind the scenes? I've no idea if he has or not but I'm surprised that Coppell hasn't taken up another post in football after all this time...
