  1. The cue to put money on Armstrong being our highest scorer this season. Cheers for the tip off DellDays 👍
  2. On reflection, not bad for a "Championship level striker" to be fair
  3. Scuffed it
  4. The Daily Express? Assume they're also reporting an upcoming 'Arctic Winter' on the front page...?
  5. All things considered (and that includes the likelihood that this thread is premised on a made up article), I'm also in the "bite their hand off for c.£50" camp. As much as I admire JWP, I think there would be mutual benefit in him embarking on a new challenge at this stage of his career. As people have highlighted, we seem to have a bit more fluidity/energy in our midfield whilst he's been out. We ought to be able to use the proceeds of selling JWP to purchase another player in the Diallo or JWP mould and, maybe, a new keeper and/or a creative Tadic-esque mid-fielder. Freshening things up in this way somehow feels the right thing to do (just a gut feel), despite there also being logic in not selling one of our key players (and captain) mid-way through the season. p.s. plus it might open up a pathway into the first team set-up for promising U18/U23 midfielders such as Watts, Chauke, Finnigan or Ballard...?
  6. Depends which publication one believes I guess... Yet to happen according to this Echo article last week: https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/19644326.alex-mccarthy-happy-southampton-will-likely-renew-deal/
  7. The starting 11 I would pick: Forster KWP - Lynaco - Salisu - Peraud Tino - Diallo - Romeu - Djenepo Broja - A.Armstrong The starting 11 I think Ralph will pick: McCarthy Tino - Bednarek - Salisu - KWP JWP - Romeu S.Armstrong - Redmond Broja - A.Armstrong
  8. Good performance. Out via the lottery of penalties. More positives than negatives. Next.
  9. We should be ahead here
  10. Change of underpants for Trousers. Arousal levels high.
  11. Just watched the highlights. Being in the Northam End, I hadn't realised quite how woeful Bednarek's defending was for the Burnley equaliser. Baffling how an international player can't get the basics right in a scenario such as that. And, also, when I saw it in real time, I couldn't understand why McCarthy didn't go full stretch to try and make the save, and looking at the replay he indeed just seems to flop over half-heartedly to his left. Hey ho.
  12. Back from the game... My first since Feb 2020 A win wouldn't have been undeserved, but relatively happy with 4 points from the last two games. Somewhat baffled by the Walcott selection, and him not being subbed sooner, but apart from that, a decent performance overall. I feel a safe-ish mid-table outcome for us this season.
  13. Anyone got any stats on how many times the usual suspect serial referee/VAR criticising managers have been fined since VAR was introduced? Or are they more adept than Ralph with their critical wording to ensure they don't fall foul of the punishment criteria...?
  14. Although could it be argued that Pawson allowed the half to continue beyond when he should've blown for half time (approx 40 seconds longer than the allotted 2 minutes)? In other words, did the time taken for VAR to make a decision in itself delay the half time whistle and, if so, should it have done?
  15. Odd timing for an impromptu friendly...?
