IIRC, didn't Hassenhuttl mention when he joined that it was Krueger who was instrumental in convincing him to come and manage Saints? Something about a German-speaking chemistry between the two of them? Clutching at conspiracy theory straws I know, but hope this doesn't dampen Ralph #2's enthusiasm for the job.
Timing does seem somewhat odd (i.e. why not wait until end of season to announce it? His contract end on 30th June so could've announced it after last game?)
(Usual thinking-out-loud stuff from me)

Since Hasenhuttl took over, we've amassed 24 points. In the same timeframe, Wolves have got 25 points. So, in terms of form over the last 4 months, we're pretty much equals at this moment in time.
"Are Saints owned by the Chinese government?"
Given they've purchased a junk of Lander Sports (China) rather than Lander Sports (UK), then the simple answer is 'No', isn't it?
Would be awfully nice of Mr Gao if he could transfer that $194m the Chinese government paid for a stake in Lander Sports (China) into Southampton Football Club Ltd though...
Got a niggling feeling about this one.... think we may slip up and lose it.... I can also see Cardiff sneaking 3 points vs Burnley too... #worstcasescenario
(If this is how things pan out, at least our two-steps-forward-one-step-back approach to avoiding relegation will give the SWF doom-and-gloom brigade a final hurrah before we secure safety )
It's a good job I'm not a cynic or a conspiracy theorist, otherwise I might be inclined to play my "perhaps we're holding him back to avoid triggering a significant appearance payment clause in his contract" card....
