Without wishing to put a dampener on things, I'm already starting to mourn the day we'll ultimately lose him to a bigger club. If he keeps this up, we'll be fortunate to hold onto him for more than 18 months. Anyway, rewinding back to the present, I'm sure going to make the most of the time he's here. Happy days are here again (for the time being)

Good. They haven't got time for tailoring as well as training for games.

His actual words: “In the moment I am happy that I find the first 11 that showed me against Arsenal that it is possible that it fits good together. I am not in the situation that I change everything because one or the other player is a little bit tired. That is not in my mind at the moment. I am glad that I find now a first 11 and to come in this team is not so easy at the moment because they put something in my account and showed me they are able to take a win." https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/17311959.southampton-manager-ralph-hasenhuttl-on-the-christmas-schedule

Just watched the 2nd part of Ralph's pre match press conference. Don't think we'll be seeing many, if any, changes to the starting 11 vs Huddersfield. To paraphrase Ralph: "I have now found my first 11. Given how well they performed in the Arsenal game there is no reason to make changes" (or words to that effect) https://southamptonfc.com/news/2018-12-20/press-conference-part-two-ralph-hasenhuttl-huddersfield-southampton-premier-league-1819

Seems bizarre that these things can't be tracked and located once they're in the air

So, what do we reckon then? The Russians? Greenpeace? Theresa May? Or someone else....? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/uk-england-sussex-46564814

When the players came over to the Northam after the game, Austin tapped his stomach a couple of times as if to acknoweldge this. -
Try "My old man's a dustman"...?

That hypothesis assumes that Pellegrino would have maintained the same point scoring rate. Just because Pellegrino achieved 8 points in the preceding 8 games doesn't guarantee that he'd have picked up another 8 points in the remaining 8 games. So, the most accurate assessment is that we'll never actually know whether Hughes got more points than Pellegrino would have done. Different people will have different hunches though, which is fine. -
On reflection, my 'thinking out loud' on this was somewhat clumsy I admit. All I was trying to articulate was that if you took the Arsenal and Huddersfield games as a pair, I'm fairly sure most of us would have been content to come away with 3 points from those two games. I'm simply highlighting that that level of expectation is now guaranteed to be met, regardless of the outcome of the Huddersfield game. In other words, I'm stating the bleedin' obvious (just for a change ) And, yes, the bottom line is that we should be getting a result against the likes of Huddersfield, regardless of unexpected results elsewhere.

Most of us would have probably been content with 3 points from the Arsenal and Huddersfield games so, thanks to today's splendid result, this now effectively becomes a free hit. If we'd lost today, the pressure to get 3 points at Huddersfield would have been immense, but we can now approach the game with confidence and relatively little pressure. That said, will now be a huge anti-climax if we don't get anything out of this game. Play with the same intensity and passion as today and another 3 points should be in the bag. COYR!!

Just back from the game. One word: passion. If Ralph can sort out the defensive lapses we'll win more than we lose playing like that. Great atmosphere. A long time since I've seen most of the stadium stay behind long after the final whistle. Lovely jubbly. -
Greetings from St Mary's. Wowzer. What a difference Ralph has made already. Passion and effort that we haven't seen in Yonks. Still think we'll lose due to the inevitable stupid mistakes at the back but very happy with the overall comittment levels.

Lawro with his finger on the pulse as ever... https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/46555484 "Looking at Southampton's squad, they will have to act in January if they want results to improve significantly. If they want to stay in this division, they will need to gamble. That could mean spending £50-60m but, after all the players they have sold in the past few years, Saints must have the cash. The question is, are they prepared to spend it?"

Given the industry he now works in, I suspect he can't wait to enLIGHTen us...
