  1. We'd be mid table with better finishing...
  2. Aye, bit gonna make the last half an hour interesting, when our unfit players will have run out of juice
  3. No impact players on the bench. Could be a long afternoon...!
  4. Fair enough. I'll get the hang of this thinking-out-loud malarkey one of these days...
  5. Quite a few changes in tonight's line up and some new names in the squad, isn't there? Can we read anything into that? Early intervention by Hesenhuttl perhaps?
  6. I would say that's an illogical conclusion. Disagreeing with someone is OK though
  7. Indeed. Which is why I caveated my point with: "taking those remaining games in isolation"
  8. Indeed. That is my point. Hughes' appointment may have got us more points than sticking with Pellegrino; or it might not have done... The point is, we can't rule out the hypothesis that Hughes kept us up. Unless I'm mistaken, you seem to be ruling out this eventuality?
  9. Good spot. The earlobes in particular are uncannily alike...
  10. Is it me or is his head a morph between Richard Madeley and James Martin?
  11. Nice one. Enjoyed that
  12. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/46467268 "Championship strugglers Reading have sacked manager Paul Clement"
  13. Its as far removed from textbook as one is likely to get
  14. The thing is, even when a team goes up a few gears there's no guarantee that they'll convert the increased number of chances they'll get. There are plenty of games like last night where the team coasting along get pipped by the team going full tilt depending on the rub of the green. All ifs and buts I know but the bottom line is we had enough decent chances and near misses to nick a point, despite Spurs not being in top gear.
  15. Spurs fan on the radio just now: "Southampton played well. They were unlucky not to get something out of the game. The scoreline flattered us"
  16. Whilst accepting that Spurs had several gears they could have moved up into, if we'd had the rub of the green (e.g. 3 strikes against the woodwork) then a draw wouldn't have been a totally outrageous result IMO. That said, with the usual schoolboy errors in defence, and our cutting edge up front being blunter than a sponge, Ralph has certainly got his work cut out if he's going to haul us out of this relegation scrap.
  17. Off the bar AGAIN!!! FFS Goooaaalllll !!!!! Austin
  18. We've had enough decent chances to have scored 2 or 3 here.
  19. FFS! Loris save
  20. Targett off target FFS
  21. Shoot Davis FFS!!!!!! WTF?
  22. How has no-one got on the end of that JWP free kick FFS?
  23. Redmond off the bar
  24. That 'logic' assumes that we'd have finished 17th if Pellegrino had stayed at the helm. If, in that alternate reality, Pellegrino took Saints down to 20th, then the person who steered us to 17th had a positive effect on the outcome.
