  1. He couldn't. If Ings leaves his replacement needs to be a goalscorer. Redmond is fine as a backup for a striker or in combination with a regular goalscorer. But in no way would it be a good idea to view Redmond as an Ings replacement.
  2. Newcastle won't be catching us
  3. Not in this game they weren't... 😉
  4. Written off Sheffield United then? 😁
  5. I doubt they'd care. The motivation would come from the medal they get on the day.
  6. Why does it matter? They'll be trying their best to win the FA Cup regardless of the League Cup result.
  7. I don't see how them winning or losing the League Cup makes any tangible difference to their motivation for the FA Cup.
  8. Shut what down? We had no need to go more defensive when 3-0 up, we had Bournemouth at arm's length the whole game!
  9. I think you'll find I was simply expanding on what he said and gave more detail. 😉
  10. Pitch sizes have been standardised for the last 9 years. Wembley's FA Cup final pitch has the exact same dimensions as St Mary's pitch (along with the majority of other PL stadiums apart from ones that are impossible to make fit the guidelines). In any case I'd say smaller pitches would suit a high pressing team rather than big ones. Reduces the amount of space for the opponent when you hem them in.
  11. Will it be lucky FA Cup semi final number 13 for Saints? 1 - 1898 - lost 2 - 1900 - runners up 3 - 1902 - runners up 4 - 1908 - lost 5 - 1925 - lost 6 - 1927 - lost 7 - 1963 - lost 8 - 1976 - won FA Cup 9 - 1984 - lost 10 - 1986 - lost 11 - 2003 - runners up 12 - 2018 - lost 13 - 2021 - ??? Normally the bridesmaid, can we be the bride again? 🤔 😇
  12. Romeu, Ward-Prowse and Diallo are hardly lacking in ability to win the ball back.
  13. FM does not have regens. They are Newgens. 😉
  14. That information is all publically available to anyone to see on the Companies House website.
  15. Not if the club appoint a manager with the same pressing philosophy.
  16. What do you expect them to say? 🤔
  17. We weren't shit then. Late 2019 is when the good form that lasted over a year started. From 23rd November 2019 onwards until the start of 2021 Saints had a sustained period of good football and a lot of points picked up until Hasenhuttl.
  18. I don't think anyone did that. There is a difference between saying someone isn't a bad owner and someone is a good owner. They are not the same thing. Gao is a 'meh' owner due to the lack of investment, that doesn't mean he is a bad owner and he certainly is not a good owner.
  19. Read my post in the context of what it was replying to. I was replying a post saying Brighton dominated us. I did not dispute the possession was not effective. My point was that we had most of the ball so were not being dominated. What we did with the ball I agree with you was fucking useless! 😃
  20. It was still the majority of the ball regardless of whether it was effective or not at attacking. Therefore Brighton were not dominating us.
  21. Yes, it is a huge stretch! Howe was on a £3m per year contract at Bournemouth. His stock is still relatively high, he is not going to join a team with a wage budget of £2.5m for their entire playing staff!
  22. No they didn't. We were in control as 60% of the possession shows but lacked creativity and struggled to break them down.
  23. No chance Howe will be going to Portsmouth, he has a standing in the game a long way above teams struggling to get out of League One. His wages demands would far surpass Pompey's manager wage budget by some distance!
  24. 1) Which players being sold do you think were a sign the club is poorly run? 2) What would you suggest should have been done with those players instead? Let their contracts run down so their value becomes £0?
