  1. We are still in a good position to equal or better our best ever Premier League season and qualify for Europe again... so how exactly is our season over now?
  2. On what basis do you think Crystal Palace have a bigger support base than Southampton? If you look at averages in the Championship season both were promoted... 2011/12 - Saints = 26,420 2012/13 - Palace = 16,933 Those are two successful seasons in the same league and Saints had circa 10,000 extra people on average. I agree West Ham do have more fans than us, but do you really think the gap is 28,000 (if David Gold gets his 60,000 capacity I linked to earlier)? The gap shouldn't be as big as that between ours and their stadium capacities.
  3. Chelsea are planning for 60,000... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/chelsea/12026719/Chelsea-submit-plan-for-new-60000-seat-Stamford-Bridge.html West Ham's might be 60,000 according David Gold today... David Gold ‏@davidgold 6h6 hours ago David Gold Retweeted Scott Yes, it's possible that the capacity of the new stadium will rise to 60,000 for the start of the new season. dg Liverpool's plan is for 59,000... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-merseyside-29314614 Yes, the TV money is huge and it reduces the % of the income coming from gate money, but why are so many other Premier League clubs expanding their capacities? Crystal Palace Everton Liverpool Spurs West Ham Chelsea Are all either already in the process of expanding their capacity (Liverpool), moving stadium (West Ham, Spurs), redeveloping current stadium (Chelsea) or likely to be looking to expand in the near future due to recent investment (Palace & Everton). Others like Stoke, Leicester etc probably look to increase and if Bournemouth stay up this season they have said they will spend to expand.
  4. Under 21 games are streamed live on Southampton's official youtube channel...
  5. It has some bearing, as he'd count as a club grown player for European squads.
  6. Form is generally done looking at 6 games, not one off games in the cup vs Man City reserves/under 21s. In terms of league form out of the last 18 points available; Saints have 16 and Chelsea 10. It is Saints in "blistering form" at the top of the form table, not Chelsea. You were talking about Chelsea still being in the battle for 4th, they are 14 points behind with only 12 games left. It isn't going to happen.
  7. If they maintain that "blistering form" in the next 12 games... 20 points and they'll finish on 53 points... only 6 more than Man City currently have.
  8. With only 12 league games left you think Chelsea are in "blistering form" and still have a chance of 4th? Really? 4th Man City 47 points ........... 6th Saints 40 points 12th Chelsea 33 points Form of last 6 league games... Saints = 16 points Chelsea = 10 points
  9. You conveniently cut off a lot of the rest of my post and taken a very short part of it out of context. European football fixtures on Thursdays have altered games at weekends for many years.
  10. Modern football? We've known this could happen since June 2015 when the fixtures were announced. It shouldn't take anyone by surprise that the fixture can change at short notice. Its foolish to assume this fixture was set in stone due to European matches we've all known about for a very long time. Both Saints and Liverpool knew they potentially could have a game the Thursday before since they qualified for Europe last season. This isn't a recent thing, things like this have happened in football due to European fixtures for a long time.
  11. Crewe Alexandra F.C. ‏@crewealexfc 3m3 minutes ago 37' #crewealex sub: Looks like a bad injury for Ryan Seager & he's stretchered off. Callum Saunders is on (2-2)
  12. Sadio Mane's pace, dribbling and movement has given the Chelsea defence nightmares on more than one occasion. John Terry put him in his team of the year last season after the difficulty he had dealing with him. I'd go with Mane and Long for this game, with Pelle and Austin on the bench if needed... nice to have such good options for Koeman to mull over. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LqSpp_3ZQ8Y
  13. Is to claim a post is crazy when you pluck it out of your imagination. You appear to have repeated this nonsense so many times you have actually convinced yourself that I said it. When in fact I've said no such thing. Utterly bizarre! If you really think I said it, can you please provide a direct link to it? Because it is utter nonsense you keep bringing this rubbish up.
  14. It has a lot of competition, but this thread has got to be up there with the craziest ever on Saints Web! A lot of people have said some very bizarre things. Fickle football fans far too easily jump on results and are unable to notice when a player or team is showing quality even if results aren't going their way. Stunning the number of Saints fans that can't recognise a good player when they see one if the last result was negative. Yes, we went through a bad patch, but we always had this season one of the best squads in the league.
  15. Swansea aren't particularly good at defending set pieces, which may explain why Ward-Prowse looks like he may be shoehorned into being a right wing-back.
  16. 21st century "professional" sports dietetics the Pompey Way... take them to a greasy spoon cafe in Southsea for a fatty full English breakfast... Tinpot, delusional, 1970/80's mindset.
  17. Have you plucked this out of the air or are you basing it on something other than just a feeling? There are numerous players that have recovered from similar injuries and still performed very well. In the summer Rodriguez did speed tests and was actually faster than he was before his knee injury.
  18. Although Saints fell away the season after he left, they did better without Keegan in the team. He left in 1982, Saints came 2nd in 1984 and 5th in 1985. Of course he would have been useful in 83/84, but they didn't do too badly without him. Before Keegan... 1979/80 - 8th With Keegan... 1980/81 - 6th 1981/82 - 7th The three seasons after Keegan left... 1982/83 - 12th 1983/84 - 2nd 1984/85 - 5th
  19. It is used for player recruitment at all levels.
  20. More likely S.Davis and Targett come into the squad.
  21. Clattenburg has been a ref for 20 odd years, its hard to believe he suddenly forgot where he keeps his red and yellow cards. The red he takes from his top pocket, the yellow from his short pocket.
