There are only 17 clubs in world football that have more players in World Cup 2014 squads than Southampton... 1. Chelsea ( 18 ) 2. Manchester United, Bayern Munich (16) 3. Napoli (14) 4. Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester City (13) 5. Juventus, Arsenal, Liverpool (12) 6. Atletico Madrid (11) 7. Porto, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Zenit (10) 8. Originally when first publicly unveiled it looked like this... It was also going to look like this at one point... A key reason the cost doubled to £30m is because the main pavilion it is now significantly bigger, as is the scale and scope of the development as a whole which has now expanded into nearby fields.

£30m upgrade of Staplewood training ground is nearly finished...

Are you happy with Gazzaniga or Davis playing in Boruc's absence? I'm not saying that Schmeichel is definitely the answer, but we do need more keeper competition.

That article is dated 1st May 2014 and is a rehash of a Danish newspaper article we discussed in this thread over two weeks ago. 30th June 2015

He joined Zenit St Petersburg in March.

I was hoping for an actual link in the press to Saints for him, not a random musing. Wouldn't this be better off here...? http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?49873-Summer-2014-HCDAJFU#.U3PQSV5pfR4

I bet it still fools some Saints fans on Twitter/Facebook/Instagram etc. With black shorts and white socks it would look pretty good.

Undersoil heating being installed at St Mary's
Matthew Le God replied to itchen_dan's topic in The Saints
We didn't have it as recently as 2013 according to this... http://www.express.co.uk/comment/columnists/matthew-dunn-/371570/Saints-bubble-is-burst-by-freeze -
Undersoil heating being installed at St Mary's
Matthew Le God replied to itchen_dan's topic in The Saints
In the past it has been condition of entry to the Premier League to have undersoil heating or "some other adequate system of pitch protection to the reasonable satisfaction of the board". I guess given the money sloshing about in the Premier League, Saints have now installed it rather than continuing with the bubble and hot air blowing system which is less reliable. Or perhaps the Premier League have tightened up the rule this summer and no matter what you have to have undersoil heating. -

Premier League Broadcast and Merit Payments for 2013/14
Matthew Le God replied to stevegrant's topic in The Saints
Championship clubs get £1.7m each in solidarity payments and those clubs with parachute payments get roughly £60m spread over 4 years, with the first two years being larger amounts than years three and four. Cardiff City earned more in TV revenue in 2013/14 finishing bottom than Man Utd did for winning the league in 2012/13. Just highlights how important it was to stay up last season as the new TV deal is huge. -
He doesn't really fit the profile of what Saints are doing and his current £4.7m p/a wages plus signing on & agent fee isn't really "free".
-
Well it was me vs alpine_saint and I like to hope I'm the lesser of two evils for you there!

Because Veho's sponsorship deal starts on 1st July 2014 and today is 14th May 2014? An Adidas employee a few days ago publicly revealed they weren't making the kit next season (perhaps when they weren't meant to) and Saints have responded as it was in the public domain. You've taken it as a dig at Cortese when it was Saints explaining the situation from their point of view. I don't see it as a dig at Cortese as it isn't clear in why the deal with Adidas broke down, nor does it blame anyone.
-
What did you take from that statement on the OS? Because the CEO of Veho has seen the new Saints kit, so they clearly have a new kit maker ready to go... Steven Lewis @steve_veho 20h Only about 6 people on the planet have seen it #patience
-
Well thats been sorted already.
-
Well yes there are, but the wages are by far the most significant cost for the club.
