  1. Read the sentence again Steve. Plus the second paragraph.
  2. The Coventry game sold out over a week before the match. Even in the 2004/05 season when Saints were awful, came 20th and were relegated, St Mary's had an average of over 30,000. It was difficult that season to get tickets and the team were hardly an attractive proposition to watch.
  3. I really can't see it being that long. Clubs are already making signings as the transfer window opened at midnight on the last day of the season. So nearly been open a week already! http://www.football-league.co.uk/regulations/20110629/section-6-players_2293633_2125731 Jason Pearce from Portsmouth to Leeds has already happened...
  4. I thought it was a black tie event? Very slack to let those two in! Cortese needs some new bouncers.
  5. Nonsense. What is the thought process behind cancelling something you were going to do just because it got into the public domain? Same applies to what some people have said about transfers and Cortese, yes they would prefer transfers not to "go public", but why does that mean you cancel them completely? Makes little sense. In any case, scenes after the Coventry game in the changing room on the BBC of the players all chanting "we're all going to Vegas" was quite a big clue they were going to Vegas, along with players Tweeting about it!
  6. Utterly bizarre! Not sure where this image is from, doesn't look like a football stadium so may just be a design for development of the site with offices/housing/hotel/retail etc rather than Chelsea Football club.
  7. An "average season" being Saints 2nd top scorer, scoring 11 Championship goals from midfield and 10 assists? If that is "average" I'd like to see him when he is good.
  8. Nigel Adkins is the goalkeeper. What do I win?
  9. History of the South Coast pendulum over the last 46 years... 1966 to 2004 Southampton's way 2004 to 2009 Pompey's way 2009 - to eternity Southampton's way
  10. It has been in place, but not used officially for a long time. September 2011... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/8790733/Goal-line-technology-in-football-comes-closer-as-Southampton-prepare-for-Hawk-Eye-trials.html
  11. Five days ago... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17874013
  12. You would be happy if Saints were relegated?
  13. A link to the rumour...(something lacking from this thread so far) http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/4158639/Football-Confidential-Latest-news-in-brief-from-across-English-football.html
  14. He may have used the long throw more whilst at Stoke, but I've never seen him do this for them...
  15. Most of star Saints youngsters are still too young for regular first team games in the Premier League. The "50% home grown" aim is a long term ambition for Cortese, not one I expect to see next season.
  16. Adkins has been doing exactly that for the past 2 seasons.
  17. It is legitimate if it leads you to this... http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2749905,00.html
  18. Guly Do Prado isn't a winger, Jarvis is.
  19. The makeup of the reserves/under 21 leagues hasn't been confirmed yet. In any case Saints if they wanted could have been in a reserve league these past few years, but choose not to.
  20. There is a significant difference between "club wealth" and "owner wealth".
  21. Joe Lewis wasn't even in Peterborough's back five this season. Paul Jones was their first choice keeper.
  22. It isn't a daft question at all. At the moment it is still a little up in the air as they will be restructuring both the academy leagues and reserve leagues in the summer. I've read the initial proposal document, but that was written last summer and there has likely been many changes to it since then. Clubs are currently being audited in terms of academy ranking into one of four tiers and this will also likely link in some ways with what happens at under 21/reserve team level. Premier League status and category one status will certainly put Saints in a strong position in terms of player development and attracting players to play for the academy and under 21 side.
