Was strange to start the post with this... Then go back to post #452 and counter it.

Apart from a 16 year old Walcott

Hypochondriac has me on ignore, yet still comments on my post by guessing what I said.

If they aren't happy, why have they agreed to it again? They would know what they are getting when the friendly is arranged. Every season Saints play Eastleigh it is against the reserves/under 21 development side/under 18's (listed as a Southampton XI side). 2010 for example... Saints: Bialkowski, Saville, A. Martin, Tafazolli, Reeves (Foot 77), Chamberlain (Garrod 60), Robinson, Pulis, Isgrove, Doble, Hoskins. Subs (not used): Forecast, B. Martin. The 1st team, under 21 development squad and under 18's all need their own friendlies in the summer.

I Would Like To See No New Signings Or Departures Of Note!

Elmander signed for Galatasary in May 2011 on huge wages and Upson was playing for England at the last World Cup and was on wages of £50k+ at West Ham. -
- Is £450k a "low fee" for a League One right back? - How do you know how much Guly cost? It was undisclosed. - Dickson's fee went to a tribunal, and he cost less for that reason. Had Saints wanted to buy him any other time he would have cost a lot more than the tribunal fee. - Tying Lallana to a 4.5 year deal wouldn't be cheap with raised wages, signing on fee and agent fee. - Do you know how much Forte cost? It probably was cheap, but as it was undisclosed we don't know. - Although Chaplow was apparently only £50k, he'd be on good wages, signing on fee and agent fee. On top of all of that, in the summer of 2010 not a lot needed to be added in any case, as the nucleus of a very good League One team was already in place.

What have the Football League done to Plymouth that they should have done to Portsmouth? Salisbury have never been under the jurisdiction of the Football League.

What about a silhouette for Markus with the Saints scarf still in colour?
-
A white background may not be a good idea as it will get noticeably dirty, quickly. Also as mentioned above, a silhouette may be better as with folds and dirt over time the colour image of Markus won't look great.

He was playing a lot for a top half Premier League club, on an estimated £35k+ per week and wanted more from Villa which led to negotiations to breaking down. Since then he has been linked in the papers to a number of top flight European clubs. I don't think you can include him in your realistic list. -
How big will it be Mike?

What dimensions have you gone for?

I think the fact Saints are newly promoted is irrelevant to any transfer activity this summer. Players will look at the wages offered and ambition of the club, rather than where Saints were last season. -
Why? They have no pressing need to sell him, so they can dictate the price or he stays.
-
So because we don't know, Saints should automatically sell him at a price that suggests he won't? No, that isn't how it works, especially if the seller is in a secure financial position.
-
- Chamberlain has possibly 10 years more playing time left than Van Der Vaart. - Van der Vaart was surplus to requirements at Real Madrid and expendable, Chamberlain is a key player for Saints. Both these and a number of other factors influence the values of the two players.
-
Why is it ridiculous money? There is a very good chance he will be worth a lot more than that if he has a good season in the Championship, plus he still has 15 years left at least of his career and the club is in good health and doesn't need the money. If he went for £12m it would be a bargain, hence why I doubt Cortese will sell him for that (or indeed at all anytime soon).

Championship fixtures released - Leeds at home first
Matthew Le God replied to stevegrant's topic in The Saints
Sky also had a Friday night game last year for the first game of the Championship season. -
Nope, I'll give you permission to moan about lack of signings in mid July. July 15th to be exact. Until then, we should just wait and see what happens...
-
Why not? What is that view based on? My point was that it matters not if you buy a player on the 4th June or 25th of June. You gain no benefit as none of the players you sign will train together until July. It is the 17th June today, still two weeks left to sign players so that they all have a full pre-season.
-
Because they don't report back for training until early July, it matters not if new players were signed two weeks ago, or in the next two weeks. Either way they aren't going to start training until July. Also you don't know that Saints haven't already signed players that will be announced in July when their contracts run out.

Spot the conflicting statements.

It isn't random at all. A huge number of factors are taken into consideration and consultation with the clubs, as explained in this article... http://www.football-league.co.uk/page/FLExplainedDetail/0,,10794~1356571,00.html
