  1. It is already in football. Ref assistants have a button on their flags connected to a device that alerts the ref and they also all have microphones down to League Two level. Well that is nonsense. If for example a murderer was let off because we refused to use DNA evidence technology in the British legal system, would that make the legal system "great"? Just because something is controversial it doesn't mean it is a good thing. Also to say "they balance out" is also a nonsense, there is no reason why it would.
  2. With 18 points already earnt, do you still think Saints will come 17th in the Championship as you predicted? - In 2010/11 Barnsley came 17th with 56 points from 46 games. - In 2011/12 Saints have 18 points from 7 games. In order to Saints to only achieve 56 points, that would see something like this from the remaining 39 league games... Played 39 Win 8 Draw 14 Lose 17 I'd love to know where all those defeats are going to come from! This league really isn't that great.
  3. If I have got this right, a Saints fan living in Portsmouth will have to... - Leave Portsmouth early on Saturday, drive to Southampton and park - Then get on a Saints fans coach to Portsmouth in order to get his ticket - Watch the game - Then leave Portsmouth on a coach back to Southampton - Drive back from Southampton to Portsmouth
  4. Pirated still perhaps, but will be much harder for them to do so. It is hardly much of a hoop to jump through for genuine customers and offers a number of other benefits to them. There are more than 4 people playing pirated copies of FM for every legitimate customer, which highlights how bad the problem is. You can't blame publishers and developers for at least trying to protect themselves. Of course not all of those that steal FM would ever by a legitimate copy if they could no longer get a pirated version, but only a small % of them changing their ways and acting legally would increase development budgets and help make a better product.
  5. Yes SEGA statement...
  6. No he isn't...
  7. Birmingham won the League Cup last season, Championship Ipswich made the semi finals, little reason why Saints can't do well. I want Saints to win. Best chance of a win is... Aldershot at St Mary's
  8. Everyone is required to activate the game with Steam this year. But after activation you don't need to be online and can play the game with Steam in offline mode. It also means you don't need the DVD in your drive and won't have that problem on your Macbook. Plus the game will automatically update with patches and data updates.
  9. Ben Reeves didn't play upfront last night. He started the game as the central player of a 3 in a 4231 system and later on in the match moved out wide when Lallana and Lambert came on.
  10. He really isn't needed. He wouldn't make the five man bench for most (if not all) of the season. Connolly, Barnard and Guly Do Prado are all better options that the club already has to partner Lambert. Lallana and De Ridder can also be used upfront if required.
  11. How about this...? The club is currently averaging higher gates than they did in the first two seasons after relegation from the Premier League including the playoff season (when there was no ticket tax).
  12. Nigel Adkins interview on BBC Radio Solent... http://audioboo.fm/boos/478856-nigel-adkins-speaks-to-kris-temple-after-the-2-1-win-over-preston
  13. As I have said elsewhere... 22,155 for Saints vs Birmingham in the 2nd tier, with a small number of away fans is nothing to be ashamed of. Nor is... 24,784 vs Forest in the 2nd tier 23,333 vs Millwall in the 2nd tier 25,860 vs Leeds in the 2nd tier (and live on TV) Lets compare it to some Premier League attendances from the weekend just gone... Fulham vs Man City 24,750 Blackburn Arsenal 22,637 Bolton vs Norwich 21,223 Swansea West Brom 20,341 Wolves vs QPR 24,189 That doesn't suit you "ticket tax" agenda though does it?
  14. "Dwindling attendances" What are you talking about?
  15. That is selective quoting Steve My opening words to the post were... "If he gets Saints promoted"
  16. Why don't you go on your own?
  17. Tonights game is... Saints reserves vs League One Preston North End's reserves It is hardly is a big draw to entice the crowds! 5,000 for a reserve game when it cost £14 really isn't that bad. In any case I think it will be higher than that. Lets now look at last nights games (some of which were only £10 per adult)... Burnley vs MK Dons 4,134 Crystal Palace vs Middlesborough 5,448 Nottingham Forest vs Newcastle 10,208 (including circa 2,000 Newcastle fans) Stoke vs Tottenham 15,023 Wolves vs Millwall 7,749
  18. If he gets Saints promoted, which clubs can offer Adkins more than he has at Saints? Man Utd Liverpool Arsenal Man City Chelsea Tottenham None of which would be interested in Adkins, as he hasn't achieved enough to warrant them being interested in him. Then you have... Everton Aston Villa Newcastle Sunderland Bigger fanbases than Saints, but do they offer anything better than what Adkins would get at Saints in terms of resources and infrastructure? Cortese has made it clear when Saints get back to the Premier League the intention is to compete towards the top of it, not struggle at the bottom or make do in mid table. Everyone else in the Premier League I would say is a step down (or at the very least a move sideways and thus pointless) if he were to leave a Saints, having got them promoted to it.
  19. We won't see their 1st team tonight, it will be a tie against the squad players from a League One team. Phil Brown has confirmed Preston will be fielding a reserve side tonight, as they did in previous rounds. For example against Charlton in round two they made 8 changes from there previous league game. Charlton made 10 chances in that game and was described by Brown as the "battle of the squads". Saint's squad players should see off Preston's easily... (we hope)
  20. Today's blog from Miles Jacobson...

  22. Did they? Saints were a League One club when they took over and Adkins had already achieved two promotions from League One on a much smaller budget.
