It will be the narrow midfield diamond 41212 formation that we have been using as an alternative to 442. Lallana will be behind the strikers. Schneiderlin or Hammond sitting in front of the back four with Schneiderlin/Hammond and Chaplow in front. The strikers and full backs provide the width.

Because Saints have a bigger squad than just 11 players.

Nor did they have the entire squad rebuilt from August 2009 to January 2010, like Saints did. Nor did they have a 10 point deduction hanging round their necks decreasing prospects for the season.

Nonsense. The Saints team in August 2009 is unrecognisable to the team that beat Norwich and Leeds after the January 2010 transfer window had closed. The Leeds and Norwich teams didn't evolve any where near as much as Saints did from the beginning to the end of last season. The Saints squad at the end of the 2009/10 was stronger than both Leeds and Norwich as shown in the two games after all three sides had finished player purchases for 2009/10. In any case... Saints in 2009/10 earnt 83 points Millwall in 2009/10 earnt 85 points Leeds in 2009/10 earnt 86 points ...hardly huge gaps!

The Saints player photos/kits/club badge are already on FM11, no need to download them. You can use http://www.fm-base.co.uk to get other unlicensed graphics, like the Premier League player photos/club badges/kits etc. The Football League, along with many other world leagues has licensed graphics and are in FM11, some like the English Premier League are not licensed for SEGA to use as EA Sports has the exclusive rights. There have been two main patches so far for FM11, 11.3 will be out in the next week or so. 11.3 will contain up to date data, e.g. Jonathan Forte, Dany N'Guessan etc at Saints.

Most Premier League clubs and quite a few Championship clubs. Saints have fallen a long way behind, hence the need for the new development.

It is down to the licensed clubs to send in the photos. Southampton Football Club didn't send SEGA the player photos for FM10. They did for FM11, I haven't added them myself.
