  1. Hoddle - turned us into proper contenders Strachen - over achieved but should have stayed and seen it through Jones - best pound for pound manager on the list Adkins - has over-achieved with auto, give him another 2 years and we will back in the Prem Pearson - we'll never know what might have been Best manager we never had? Warnock CHDAJFU!
  2. Is that the Champions League trophy he's holding up? And why has somebody photo-shopped trees over the big crowd behind him?
  3. Great idea! Something that the majority of fans and the wider public will never see.... For me, I'd like to see Brittania Road re-named (same as Ipswich have their Sir Alf Ramsey Way, and others too). Makes a more public and permanent reminder for me.
  4. How many are we actually expecting for this? V. short notice (that's not a dig, it's obviously tied in with us securing promo and giving the players maximum time off in the summer). 'Lots' of people will go because they can and it's free.... 'Lots' of people won't be able to go because of prior commitments or cos of travelling twice in two days.... and there will be some to who it doesn't appeal. Shall we say 16-18K ... perhaps more if it's a sunny day?
  5. I have never been represented by anybody! I have never had a local MP or a National govt represent my vote in 30 years of voting. First voted Lab in the election when Maggie came in in 79, and voted lab in the subsequent elections the tories won. Voted LD against Blair and nulabour in the all the elections Blair won. Voted Lab last year. My vote has never returned a local MP or a National winner. Locally I have voted regularly for a rainbow coalition of Lab/LD/Green/Comm/Independent and have never yet picked a winner at either seat or council level. I've also just voted 'yes' in the referendum but that isn't going to win either !!!!
  6. Of course you are allowed to offer them (worthy cause and all that) ... don't take less than £150 for a pair though!
  7. Hanging on from any returns from Walsall possibly? Can't see them bringing more than 800-1000 but I think they have c1500 tkts up there. Could free up another 200-300 for us with some creative seating arrangements?
  8. If we get Burley in as well they can still do that.
  9. Alan Carr, Alan Carr, Alan Carr ...!
  10. Let's flip this round - would he have done 'even better' this season if he had stood down for 10-12 games in Oct-Nov? Love this re-writing of history - he was rank before Xmas! And has been very good since! Before Xmas I couldn't see him getting anywhere near the CCC - if he can reproduce his form of the last 10 games next season he will be all over the CCC. Lambert 4 England! And Torres scored last week but it wasn't in L1!!
  11. West Brom don't hate us - quality club with quality fans - the Saints of the Midlands dare I say? (Only diff is they have won several Championships and quite a few FA cups; 'proper' football club') - they HATE Wolves .. doubt we are eve non their radar!
  12. I can never bring myself to vote for the 'obvious' candidates in these polls. Was thinking of voting 'Hammond' myself based on the 10 games I've seen but will now go away and reconsider .... based on the 10 games I've seen would it be be deeply uncool to vote for KD? (and I'm not a fan ...)
  13. Some of my favorite players X1: Shilton Golac Wright Richards SteveMills Williams Ball Case Paine R Davis Channon St Mary's X1 Niemi Telfer Fonte Killer Bridge Walcott Oakley MLT Bale Beattie Connolly
  14. Ticket office playing a bit of a fast one. I phoned for 4 at lunchtime and could only get 4 in the Chapel; I split that down to 2 x 2 and still nothing available on the other 3 sides. I asked if/when Block 1-3 were coming on and was told they are not open at the moment and 'unlikely to come on at this short notice' ... complete poppyc-o-ck! The club are obviously maximising all their existing sales before they open 1-3 .... 1-3 clearly will be opened ... once they have sold 95%-plus of the rest of the ground ... I would estimate they will open 1-3 on Friday. I really should have waited for that but my nerve failed me (!) and I took the four I was offerred in the Chapel (went in there for the last Pompey game and the atmosphere is actually OK when it's full).
  15. All good stuff but that's the killer Stat in bold - there can't be many (any?) better records than that in the whole four leagues - that resiliance and will-to-win will serve us massively next season.
  16. Are there any extra blocks open yet? 1-2-3? 43-44?
  17. Isn't that what it's called? Canon still sponsor the first division in my house, ask Karen, Iris and Amelda.
  18. Without getting too far ahead of ourselves! I'll go for 6th in the NPL. We will secure auto this season (and if we don't we will win the p-offs!) We have a really good manager, a reasonable squad of players, top fan base; I am hopeful that if we are promoted (sorry 'when' we are promoted) money is available. What we really, really, want is a good start next season (whatever league we are in). I'd take 6th in the NPL; why aim lower?
  19. I thought it was Poole Pirates, or have they changed their name to Rovers?
  20. LOL! Good Ol' 'arry, leopards and spots anyone?
  21. We did buy half a new team in that first year (Lambert/Barnard/Fonte/Jaidi?/Harding/Puncheon?/Waigo etc), more than we spent in the current year certainly. Shows how far away we are from breaking even though - lots of games that season and good cup runs, good crowds, and on telly quite a few times, but that income nowhere near covers our costs. Clearly match-day funding on it's own will not sustain us at the level we want to be at, doesn't look like loadsa money for transfers either - guess the core of the current team will be our CCC side too?
  22. Big society?
  23. For those with too much time on their hands how quickly could we get to auto promotion if the other results keep going our way? Guessing about 4 games could do it? Balls to this 'a draw would be good on Saturday' stuff ... let's keep this bus rolling and get the job done asap.
  24. Excellent, can't remember much about him, which prob means we were playing well and he didn't get anything majorly wrong. Win Win.
  25. Really solid professional performance and really good to see. You can only beat what's in front of you and Saints played without fear or pressure to take three well-earned points. Having watched quite a few hesitant or lack lustre performances this season it was great to see Saints come powering out for the first 15 minutes and really get a grip on the game. I thought our energy levels and all round team work were a joy to see and we played some great stuff in the first half. I'm not understanding the comments that dismissed it as a routine (or even inept!) performance - we would have given anyone a game last night and that performance was comfortably up to Championship level, particularly the first 60 mins when AL was on fire, and discarding the last 10 when understandably both full backs tired. A great atmosphere around the ground last night and a real sense of togetherness with team and fans that we haven't had for a long time - top stuff! KD 7 naff all to do, one good save, one dodgy kick FR 7 dodgy first 10 but fine after that RJ 8 great effort (again!) JF 7 massive player for us next season RD 8 did enough to stay in for next game Guly 8 top player, top goal DH 7 did all he needed to AL 7 can't wait to see him in the Championship DS 6 neat and tidy, just what we need, also got a bit of 'leadership' about him LB 8 well deserved goal, another dynamic performance RL 9 outstanding tonight, best I've seen him play this season. Starting to look fitter again and on this form he could be a massive player next season (can he keep it up and get a decent pre-season in next year?) RC 6 worked hard but what's happened to his passing! OG 6 much improved over the last 12 months DC 5 great to see him back and a useful option on the bench NA 10! Team 10! Crowd 10! That's more like it Saints, why oh why oh why can't we START a season like this!
