  1. Bring back the Empire! Paint the globe pink! Let's start small with Scotland and NI. After that the world's our global oyster.
  2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zd9jeJk2UHQ Do we sing this? Not been for a long time, but I think we should. Bring on Shane Long, bring on Shane Long, If it’s goals you want, bring on Shane Long, Bring him on, bring him on, bring on Shane Long, bring on Shane Long, bring on Shane Long. Bring him on, bring him on, bring on Shane Long If it’s goals you want, bring him on, bring him on. Do we 'ever' beat Chelsea at home? Got more points away in the last '10' sasons.
  3. 'Misfit' by Curiosity Killed the Cat
  4. Love this thread, my mum, keeper of the village shop in a small East Kent village, running down the road to meet the schoolbus and to tell myself and DB, aged 14 and 13 'We've signed Keegan!'. Ran home to check out all available media, in the absence of a television that consisted of tuning across various BBC outlets (essentially Radio 2 and Radio 4) to confirm it was true. Hard to believe even now that Saints had actually signed the EuropeanFootballer of the Year.
  5. Did you do a little Beta trial, ManUtd 0-1 Southampton, and your team leader said 'Too far-fetched, this will never catch on'.
  6. Long's still got it
  7. Forster- Celticesque tonight.
  8. Can't be many Championship players who send a birthday card to 'Aunty Snapdragon' can there?
  9. James Ward House is clear winner in forum bingo shoot-out.
  10. Why are some England fans so disappointed that we are a more enlightened country than Italy?
  11. Great finish ... from a man that should be on two yellows.
  12. Here's a thing, on the way to the San Siro we parked at a park-and-pickup for Heathrow. Some vaguely familiar looking bloke 'from the telly' ('I've seen him somewhere haven't I?') got into the people carrier. We got chatting, we were going to the football, he was going to a 'business meeting' in Germany Still to this day I'm astonished that on arrival at the terminal Vince Cable didn't grab me for a commemorative selfie to mark the occasion.
  13. You really think they've thought as far ahead as any sort of end-game? Next week seems to be a stretch too far. Hotel quarantine starts on Monday morning, punters can't access any info or make reservations. As of 5pm on Friday afternoon Borderforce have had precisely 'no' information at all about what the system is, how it works, and what there role is to be. Oh well, guess management will be getting copious emails/guidance/webinars over the weekend so staff can be right on it first thing Monday am. Be fair though, they've only had 12 months notice that this is a process we will likely have to follow at some stage.
  14. I like watching Villa, what's the composite Saints/Villa side? I'll go first, Targett at Left Back.
  15. Thank goodness for VAR, no longer will the big boys get everything and the plucky underdogs (cf Southampton FC) will get their just deserts and football will be fair forever more.
  16. Being trolled by your own Prime Minister; 'useful idiots' doesn't even come close.
  17. Apologies on the stat error, they didn't look right when I wrote them, found them squinting at small text on a phone after a glass or two! I knew the Carlos Kickaball/swarthy foreigner/man-thing came into it somewhere. I've been impressed with just how good Ings is this season.
  18. Ings 22 in 46 (League) in a weaker/struggling team. Pelle 12 in 38 (League) in a half decent team. How many would Ings score playing with Mane, Tadic, Lallana?
  19. Happy to put Jimmy Case back, I think I've had a Dominic Raab/Dover moment in not realising quite how much he played for us. For me he would always be synonomous as a Liverpool player and to an extent even as a Brighton player too. I didn't see much of Saints then and clearly reading back he was very much in his prime with us. Google would tend to agree with me though, three quarters of the stuff on line about him is Liverpool related. Maybe this is a whole new thread, players we think of highly as Saints fans but players 'most' football fans would associate with a completely different club. eg Jimmy Case (!), Chivers, Shearer for three.
  20. Rodrigues McCalliog Osgood, all shoe-ins and well past their prime, AKA, you'll win nothing with kids. Jimmy Case, no spring chicken either. Maybe Lee Todd just got old before his time?
  21. Anybody back me up on this? That Leeds team at the Dell, Billy Bremner injuring one of his own players in the warm-up (possibly by smashing the ball in their face!) to the extent that the trainer came on during the warm-up, and I 'think' the player didn't start the game. Have I imagined all this? I would have been about 7 or 8 when it occurred!
  22. Extraordinary to see the rehabilitation of JWP in the last 6 months! 'Most' fans wanted him sold to Watford or a 'Championship at best' club 12 months ago, now he appears in half the all-time 5 a-side teams! My effort: Niemi Reuben Agboola Ball Mane Keegan B Team Shilton Mark Wright Lallana Pahars SRL
  23. Enjoying the thread, don't want it to expire before I get one!
  24. Good work, it is the 'previous clubs' of the '76 cup winning side in player order, missing from the list were Holmes/Channon/Stokes, none of whom has a previous club.
