  1. This is one of the worst PL games I've ever seen. Only consolaton is that for those scratching around for 'three teams worse than us' is that Villa are absolutely dire too.
  2. Looks like I'm going to be roped into the catering duties too. On the pitch can I be Jason Puncheon? All that running around in the first half, I might need to be a little delayed before we come back out for the second half.
  3. Average players - they held down a place in the team, they could hold their own at the level they were playing at, some good games, some not so good, no danger of moving up a level. Paul Jones, Telfer, Williams, Tessem Oakley Anders Svensson Ripley Ormerod Gully sp Wooton Holmes Waldron Lloyd James A pretty harsh list, all these DAJFU!
  4. Zings can only get better (apologies if its been done further up thread).
  5. When you see all five written down in the same sentence you kind of see Ralph's dilemna. They all offer a bit of something, none of the five is standout PL quality. Guess Ralph goes for Bednarek as the experienced, hold-it-all-together, pick, and he then perms two from four to play with him.
  6. Back to the drawing board (for both of us). Using our extra subs when the 'points are in the bag' versus 'that doen't happen very often'. In the league last year we could have deployed this tactic (quick, extra subs, we're 2 up with 10 mins to play) exactly ONCE! Brentford home was the only time in 38 attempts we got into this position. It might have more application in the cups: we achieved this lofty position away at Newport and also at home to West Ham.
  7. Not sure this will apply too often! Genuine question, in the 38 games last season, how many times were we 2-up with 10 mins to play ? Completely random guess, no more than 'eight' times ... ????
  8. Hhmmm, two semi-advanced strikers and a slightly false 9, 'And vot is your name?' 'Don't tell him Armstrong'.
  9. Looks more like an away kit to me. The plain white back says Spurs/Leeds/Fulham. Would have been so much better in the inverse/keegan set up. Socks are naff too. I'm sure it will grow on me but at first glance really don't like it.
  10. I was there, it was the game when a couple of lads had printed out the words to the SRL song and were giving them to everybody outside the ground. I always took it that Pardew's refusal to bring on any subs was a message to the board 'this is all we've got', rather than a snub to the fans. In reality that night he had Davis, Harding, Wotton, Schneiderlin, Lambert, and Lallana starting which was the core of a pretty decent League 1 side, as NA went on to demonstrate. Great away support that evening, think the League 1 and Championship seasons were the best times I've had following Saints, especially the away games. A home PL game at St Mary''s just doesn't come close.
  11. Anybody else say 'don't shoot!!!!'
  12. Bring back the Empire! Paint the globe pink! Let's start small with Scotland and NI. After that the world's our global oyster.
  13. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zd9jeJk2UHQ Do we sing this? Not been for a long time, but I think we should. Bring on Shane Long, bring on Shane Long, If it’s goals you want, bring on Shane Long, Bring him on, bring him on, bring on Shane Long, bring on Shane Long, bring on Shane Long. Bring him on, bring him on, bring on Shane Long If it’s goals you want, bring him on, bring him on. Do we 'ever' beat Chelsea at home? Got more points away in the last '10' sasons.
  14. 'Misfit' by Curiosity Killed the Cat
  15. Love this thread, my mum, keeper of the village shop in a small East Kent village, running down the road to meet the schoolbus and to tell myself and DB, aged 14 and 13 'We've signed Keegan!'. Ran home to check out all available media, in the absence of a television that consisted of tuning across various BBC outlets (essentially Radio 2 and Radio 4) to confirm it was true. Hard to believe even now that Saints had actually signed the EuropeanFootballer of the Year.
  16. Did you do a little Beta trial, ManUtd 0-1 Southampton, and your team leader said 'Too far-fetched, this will never catch on'.
  17. Long's still got it
  18. Forster- Celticesque tonight.
  19. Can't be many Championship players who send a birthday card to 'Aunty Snapdragon' can there?
  20. James Ward House is clear winner in forum bingo shoot-out.
  21. Why are some England fans so disappointed that we are a more enlightened country than Italy?
  22. Great finish ... from a man that should be on two yellows.
  23. Here's a thing, on the way to the San Siro we parked at a park-and-pickup for Heathrow. Some vaguely familiar looking bloke 'from the telly' ('I've seen him somewhere haven't I?') got into the people carrier. We got chatting, we were going to the football, he was going to a 'business meeting' in Germany Still to this day I'm astonished that on arrival at the terminal Vince Cable didn't grab me for a commemorative selfie to mark the occasion.
  24. You really think they've thought as far ahead as any sort of end-game? Next week seems to be a stretch too far. Hotel quarantine starts on Monday morning, punters can't access any info or make reservations. As of 5pm on Friday afternoon Borderforce have had precisely 'no' information at all about what the system is, how it works, and what there role is to be. Oh well, guess management will be getting copious emails/guidance/webinars over the weekend so staff can be right on it first thing Monday am. Be fair though, they've only had 12 months notice that this is a process we will likely have to follow at some stage.
