Don't get the hate for Welbeck, would be really good in a decent side, CDAJF for Arsenal or Chelsea, would be great for us and a much better finisher than JRod, he would score a hat-full if he played regularly for us. Clyne for England? No chance unless he gets a consistent run of games/form between now and the end of the season, plenty good enough, he should be in the squad, but for various reasons including some under-performance in an under-performing u21 side he has no senior experience. He's rapidly becoming the new Jack Cork, everybody seems to be all over Chambers (who is good, who will be very good, but who at the moment is nowhere near Clyne's level), how soon we forget when a player slips out of the side.

Gutted at the time (still my fave away Saints game ever) but who would now swap that promotion with our subsequent 'journey'? That team would have struggled massively in the Prem and there's every chance they would have come straight back down. Decent Lambert replacement TBF. He can play the lone striker/hold-it-up bit, he's fit/works hard, decent finisher, creative passer for others. Would be a good fit in our system.

Small world, listened to it this morning, via Spotify (hence this thread?). Great album but sounds terribly dated now, Supersonic for me. Scrolling down that same Spotify page Heathen Chemistry was the album we listened to most. Drove around France for several summers with that one in the CD stack.

Yeh, if we exclude the two Mancs, the two Scouse and the 3 big London clubs we have a fighting chance of being crowned 'Best of the Rest'. Champions Lge it ain't but it's still a decent return for our second season and should see us tactically avoid the Europa cup too.

The tolls on the 'original' Dartford Tunnel (mid-60s) were set up on the premise that they would only be their till it's paid for, never happens, the tunnels and the 'new' bridge have paid for themselves many times over, the tolls haven't gone, in fact they've just gone up! Massive **** take, either we have 'road pricing' or we don't; I'm not averse to paying a toll for a genuinely new provision and one that wouldn't otherwise wouldn't be built but once the tolls are established and the facility is paid for they never come off!

Watched Saturday's game on a stream and the first 60 minutes were as dull as ditchwater. Welcome to the Premier League mid-table twilight zone, it's probably there every season for two or three teams it's just that it's been a long time since we've been involved in mid-table mediocrity, especially this 'early' in the season, also see the last 6-8 games last season. Fortunately we've got most of the top 8 still to play and they should all be reasonable games, the test will be how much we are prepared to put into games like next week where the bottom 6 or 7 will be giving it their all. The table can turn round quickly but it's not beyond the realms that we could stay in 9th for the remainder of the season!
