I loved the quote from Miller (the wannabe owner of Rangers), "Having no intention of negatively affecting the potential outcome of the club's future and after hearing the message from Rangers supporters and fans loud and clear ("Yank go home!"), I notified the administrators today that I have withdrawn my bid for Rangers and will not be moving forward," he said. "I wish Rangers fans, supporters and employees my very best. I hope all your dreams and wishes come true. You certainly deserve it. If that isn't a "I'm your last chance, tell me you don't want me, and I walk" statement, then I don't know what is. Sounds very familiar to me

that's brilliant to hear. I'd like to think that "The Southampton way", extends to behaving like this. Good job chaps abd hope Ben is on the mend.

I was in Spain with my family when this news broke and I guess for this reason I have always felt close to this story. The story is tragic and sad. Whichever way you want to slice it, whether that is a pro-McCann or anti-McCann argument or theory, the simple fact remains that a four year old girl has been taken from her family, and possibly taken forever. Whether that was at the hand of an abductor, a paedophile ring, or her parents, makes no odds to little Madeleine McCann. poor little mite.

Nice. 48 points, 48 goals and hopefully 48 years until we play them again.

I'm going to wear my colours today
ooh it's a corner replied to ooh it's a corner's topic in The Saints
Three years on. Somethings have changed. A few more grey hairs, not sure I fit in the colours anymore, might have to buy a new one in a hurry in the morning. I still don't care for FL rules, but I do care about our chairman. Still dont care about jibes from other fans, and I still love this city...... My children are still growing up (fast) here and I do so much want the world to know I am a Saints fan. I can't speak for Trousers, but I fancy a tear will flow before Saturday's over. Sorrow to joy in 3 years. Thank you Markus, we owe you big fella. -
Daily Echo reporting that Coventry will have a 17 year old making his first team debut at centre back. methinks Rickie might fancy his chances....

erm, because they've just all agreed to the CVA?
-
I never truly believed that there was much difference between Portsmouth and Southampton until now. But, if you think you can smile, and glibly tell the poor business folks from Portsmouth, that you really, really, really mean it this time, and they believe you, then I can only conclude that the poor (in every sense of the word) people from this little island are actually stupid. Nailed on, dense. Thick. Dumb. Not the shiniest buttons in the box. A few pork pies short of a picnic. Rowing with an oar out of the water. I am gobsmacked.
-
they = the creditors (particularly the small ones who are probably hurting the most)
-
I thought they did this last time, but we never saw the outcome of the forensic investigation into old co? Or did it never happen? It is pointless going for a CVA as the last one bore no fruit. If I were I creditor I would have CVA as my last option.

There will be a vote cast by the creditors to accept or decline the administrator's proposal. This will be a xx pence in the pound, and I'll keep going and try to find the new buyer, or liquidate now and I can't guarantee what the xx pence will be. This is the vote that the administrator needs 75% of the creditors to agree on, so Chainrai holds a big stake. HMRC holds a little stake.

You get the impression that Faulds wants to hold someone to account, for trading whilst insolvent. Lampitt would be the guy to aim at for that. I wonder how big his house is?
-
50/50 with no offer on the table? Blimey, I've put offers in on houses that have taken more than 3 months to complete. If you haven't got an offer on the table yet sunshine, then I would suggest the odds of having a new owner in before the start of next season (or June 2nd) are closer to zero. (mind you we already knew that didnt we?)
-
Does anyone know what happens today, if the creditors dont vote in favour of Mr Birch's proposals? Does he get the chance to go away and do it again, or does he offer liquidation as the alternative? what relevance is the 10 week deadline for this meeting? (Which I believe expires tomorrow). If he has to go away and do it again, does he only have 24 hours to save the world?
-
I agree. If I were a creditor I would be challenging Birch this morning. His job is to try to make the club a going concern moving forward. He has announced that relegation will only cost the club £1.2m, and yet he clearly made efforts to keep some of the better players on the books during the January transfer window. With this second traunch of redundancies, he's also admitting that he didnt cut staff "back to the bone" when he announced the first set of redundancies. He bloody well should have done. I cannot believe the cost of an ambassador, or club photographer, or an additional coach, or any of the other 7 souls who will lose their job at the end of this month, outweighed the income they were likely to bring in to Portsmouth. Therefore these jobs should have been cullled earlier. I also find no sympathy in the argument that "we're now speaking with the PFA to discuss player contracts". It's too late, you should have done this on day two. You, Mr Birch, are guilty of "hoping" for a Knight on a white steed. You have gambled with other peoples' money and that is a pretty poor show for a qualified practitioner. I wonder how much more my Southern Electric bill will be this year because you didn't make the hard decisions you needed to several months ago. How much electricity has this organisation consumed since then? And I've got to pay for it. Along with every other customer. No sympathy for the club, and no sympathy for the fans. I only hope the players dig their heels in and push the rule book back to the FL and demand their contracts are honoured.

not necessarily in that order :-) But word of caution folks, hugging strangers ought to be kept to the stadium. I don't advise doing this on the way to the pub

sort of, but there is a big difference between market value and what someone pays for something. You could argue that a patch of land the size of Fratton Park is worth several million pounds. However if you can never access the land because someone has put a ring of land around it and won't let you cross their land, then the value of said patch decreases. The administrator will have to take the best offer that becomes available. Given the time restrictions, he doesnt have 12 months to go and advertise and seek legal changes to the land as it stands at the moment, so whoever buys it will buy it in the knowledge that they cannot access it, without Sacha's permission. That makes it too risky for any uninvolved business to put a "proper" offer in. So, it comes back to "what is something worth", well it is worth exactly the amount someone is willing to pay for it. Which is why Andy Carroll changed hands for £35m and Fratton Park will change hands for less than a second hand Ford Cortina. Once it has changed hands, we can expect the land registry position to be changed, the ring fence to disappear and the patch of land, at this point to change hands for a true market valuation. of course, I could be miles off the mark :-)
-
You haven't read it wrong, but the bit you are missing it that no sensible person will buy the land with a ringfence around it. So, the land is worthless to Tesco's et al unless they can get their hands on Sacha's ring (oo-er), they will not pay anything for it. So, ultimately the administrator will have to take the highest cash offer, which will inevitably be the £10k or so from Portpin. So, essentially Portpin will buy the land that they currently own, from the adminstrator. This will then allow them to subsequently buy Sacha's bit of land, and then redevelop, thus clearing the £17m that Daddy Gaydamak owed Chanrai. Simples.
