I was about 9 years old, on the Archers Road terrace, asking me Dad, "why do we hate Bailey and we hate Bailey". Dad explained. And without challenge or hinderance I heartily joined in. At every opportunity thereafter. Irrational hatred. Of a footballer. Good luck to him now, speedy recovery and all that, but if we ever wonder why there are problems on the planet.... Still once he's back on his feet again, may my children be the first to start, "We hate Bail....."

oooh sorry about that. It could be that I used a well known phrase to sum up my thoughts, which happened to be the same as your comment, or I plagarised your words apologies for the copy infringement mods happy to close this if it's covered elsewhere, I guess I was trying to avoid the inevitable infighting that happens when unpopular decisions are made. -

I'm not arguing, but out of interest what was the gap between Pardew leaving and Adkins coming in? And do you think Adkins was approached by Cortese before Pardew was given marching orders? As I say, not arguing, but Cortese does seem to have a plan, before making his decisions -
We don't like it and it certainly won't sit comfortably when you're eating your cornflakes in the morning, but ultimately we've got a new boss. Unless anyone wants to buy the current regime out, I suggest there is bugger all we can do about it. Other than raise a glass in the direction of the old boss and support the new one....

I see there were 8,777 at Bournemouth's game today. It won't be long before they start out numbering the blue few. Then we can a proper rivalry with them...... maybe

Outstanding value bet for the weekend is Tranmere to beat Portsmouth. Top versus 19th, at home. Betfair offering even money. Get on it whilst you can....

How can an accountancy firm sign this off? It's a bit like saying, "We think our best chance of maintaining this business as a going concern is to give it to these people, who haven't got the foggiest where they will get the cash from". Why aren't they realising the best return for the creditors of the business, and liquidating it? I can understand the PST being passionate and wanting the old regime out and a new ownership in place, but I just can't fathom the lack of objectivity from the administrators. It beggars belief.

The single positive for me from today is that I thought we deserved 3 points. Not by much, but I thought we deserved them. I couldnt have said that after many games. So, we're improving. We gave away a noddy goal. We could have had a penalty, but we didn't. I still think we'll finish out of the bottom three, but I'll toast a beer to those that will accuse me of being a happy clappy. (at least it gives me an excuse to drink some more)

It's SATURDAY football everybody..... Love it. No work, beers before AND afterwards.... It is the only time for a football kickoff for me I am looking forward to today muchly

It's that wonderful quote from a twenty something Portmouth fan outside Fratton, regarding administration, and failing to understand the irony of his next statement; "It's like deja vu, all over again" Priceless. Numbnuts. I wonder if I can now spend 2 hours surfing the interweb for the video

Fact. We're bottom. Fact. We've let lots of goals in. Fact. I support Southampton Football Club. Fact. I enjoy going to watch the footie and having a few beers with nearest and dearest before and after the game. Fact. I've done this repeatedly since I was a child Fiction. I didn't drink alcohol as a child Fact. I will continue to enjoy football and beer for the foreseeable future. Fact. I hope we win our next game, I always have done. Fact. I won't let defeat in our next game get me down (well not too much). Fact. I would sooner support Southampton than any other team, anywhere, anytime. Let's get on with it, us against the world. If you need me to explain who the "us" is, please leave, quietly.

Leeds 3 - 0 Saints - Post Match Reaction
ooh it's a corner replied to Saint_clark's topic in The Saints
Like most things in life that are unpleasant, it's the shock that hurts more than the event itself. If Adkins had announced yesterday lunchtime that he couldnt be arsed with the competition and would use this round to play fringe players, to keep the first team as fresh for the league fixtures as possible, then we would have expected a defeat, and probably agreed with the "league is more important" concept. As it is, we tune in at kick off and think....hmmm....and are left feeling somewhat miffed by another three goal defeat. -

I did. BUT, I never thought we would have made anything like the number of individual errors that we have made in the first 8 games and I would not have thought we would have lost as many points from winning positions as we have done. I still dont think we will get relegated but I cannot decide if that is blind optimism or not -

When was the last time you had a conversation with a 14 year old girl and thought to yourself, "my, what an intelligent, thoughful human being, we have so much in common" ? The last time I had a conversation with a 13 year old girl (my niece) I thought to myself, "good lord, I understand what you are saying but you think I am a grey haired old fart and I have no idea which band/boy/tv celeb you are talking about, but at the end of the day you are a 13 year old girl, and perhaps we are entitled to have different interests" Any grown man not recognising the traits of a young girl (and therefore not bothering to ask for ID) is further up the food chain that those that actively seek out underage children, but not much......

Trouble is you can only see the world through the laws as they would be applied today. So, if you were convicted of stealing a sheep last week, you would be a convicted sheep-thief and I would expect you to receive a penalty for that. But not be hanged from the neck until dead. As it is a statutory rape offence for a grown man to have sex with an under 16 year old, regardless as to who has instigated what, I cannot comment for what the law was in the 1970's, but today, he would be accused of rape. The most sickening thing, as others have mentioned, is the apparent collusion of others within the BBC. It's one thing turning a blind eye to a man's drink problem, or his gambling habit, but turning a blind eye to this is inexcusable. It's going to rumble and rumble this one......

This whole teacher running off with a pupil thing
ooh it's a corner replied to Turkish's topic in The Lounge
fair enough. But it's statutory rape in this country, and if there is any evidence to support it, that is what he will get charged with. 15 year maximum jail term. Sex offenders register for life. Never working in a child facing environment again. I cannot believe the school had doubts and seemingly did nothing. I'm sure the pair of them are okay, but you cannot spend your entire life on the run* *unless you are a former owner of PFC -
This sums it up for me. Away from home this week, a bit glum, so I seek the solstice of other like minded nutjobs. Then this re-appears. Brilliant. There but for the grace of God. Comedy on sooooo many levels.

So there I was carefully composing a repost, which would have abused you in a "love of the team" sort of way, and we scored. Now we're two pages later..... Still, I'm glad my wager this evening wasn't a toss up between a Saints home win and a Bradford home win, otherwise I would be looking to lose a wedge........ d'oh
