The best we can hope for in this window is the loan of a striker and possibly (as one lad suggested earlier) one of the many spare ones at the Scousers. The Minamino scenario again. Seems unlikely SR will spend money on new players until Jones has decided who should stay and who should go and our league fate is determined, less so if they are factoring in relegation and regrouping as inevitable.

This, sir, is total b*ll*cks. Elyounoussi is our most creative forward and has had several very good assistd to his name this season.
-
We have. Not sure there's an easy off-ramp either having just paid off the Austrian Flopp. Besides which whoever up in their ivory tower is going to put their hands up for the biggest cock-up in Saints history.
-
I imagine we have got to the point where many fans are wondering where the next point is coming from. If we draw a blank v Fulham then the long road ahead will be an uphill struggle. On recent form this one will end badly, probably around the 3-0 mark.
-
They can't blame us that's for sure. Most fans saw it coming from the first mention of his name. One stat we can trust, bottom of the league at Christmas = nigh on certain relegation
-
Yeah but apart from that?

Merry Christmas everyone, long live the Saints and Bless you all! "Of come all ye Faithful…"

Should that have read Nathan Jones's Tic Tacs?
-
Could have been worse.

It maybe a sell out in principal but don't be surprised if more than a few fans succumb to turkey lunch in front of the telly, with a glass of port in one hand and the cranberry sauce jar in the other. Cold turkey might feel a whole lot more attractive than watching free-ranging headless chickens running around a field come Boxing Day.

Always thought the best coaches did their instruction on the training ground and let the players get on with it during the match. There is always time at HT to correct things in the privacy of the dressing room. Shouting at players endlessly from the touchline during play serves only to confuse and disrupt.
-
Was he to blame for the Lincoln goal as well?
-
Best to say nothing about this one.

Anybody else getting buffering issues on Saints videos these days? Seems to happen on ever video about 85% of the way through. NJ's PC is latest to suffer.
-
Yes but who's first team, Hasenhüttl's or Jones'?
-
It could be that or it could be that with a fresh start under Jones we may see a completely different line up as first XI 🤞. Let's face it Walcott/Mara can hardly do worse than Armstrong/Adams. By this account they seem to do rather better!
-
There is a lot of common sense in what you say about player's attitudes but some of them will be eyeing the exit at the mere sniff of relegation especially those with little time left on their contracts and others who feel that they are destined for better things. Fans will always be loyal and back the team through thick and thin but how many of the current groups of players will be that bothered if we stay up or go down? Jones must get his relationship with the players right very quickly to keep everyone on board and we must hope that we see more signs of empathy and bonding than has been the case so far.
-
What you need to remember is that this group of players are de facto Ralph's choices and are used to a rather more intelligent and friendly way of running things, Jones is hardly a charmer despite his earlier claims that his Luton players loved him. He comes across in the videos that we have seen so far as rather cold and detached. Where is the passion that might stimulate positive reactions from players that are yet to be convinced. If I had a bloke barking orders at me without explanation like he seems to do, I'd tell him to do one.
-
Very odd indeed and not necessarily a mark of respect. ("I'm looking at you Stuart Armstrong"!) Bit like naming and shaming? What happened to Stuey? All those unimpressed faces speak volumes especially Lyanco & Diallo.
-
Jumped or pushed? There is always a back story to these events that we never get to hear about until years later. If he was a believer in Ralph the changes that have been made to the coaching staff may have been foisted upon him rather than being his decision. That certainly would have made his position untenable.
-
What an appalling way to run a training session none of our players looked impressed by the bellicose nonsense spewing out of Jones' mouth. Impossible to love a manager who acts like a 3rd grade Sunday league bully boy. This one size fits all shouting match will achieve nothing at this level. Worst of all he comes across as a thick back street lout.

Nathan Jones, Chris Cohen and Alan Sheehan
Charlie Wayman replied to Master Bates's topic in The Saints
At least Ruben Selles has now popped up in the odd session pics so they haven't ousted him yet. I can't help thinking that our new trio of coaches seem a bit like the bunches of three unshaven desperados that keep turning up in The English as cannon fodder for Eli! I wonder who will be our Eli to rescue us? -
Loved the guy and sad when he was pushed out. We've persisted with many worse than him. The so-called best league in the world is anchored in high speed, high energy and physicality and quite obviously the olde worldie silky smooth talents of Sofiane did not match these criteria. THAT solo effort against WBA gave a glimpse of what could have been but our somewhat blinkered manager's of the time had other priorities. He might have fared better and blossomed more in a better footballing side like Arsenal or Man C but probably wasn't rated good enough for them. The right player in the wrong place at the wrong time.
-
Unlikely to work like that. Recruitment is a non-stop year round process without a beginning point or end point. Windows are when announcements are made and contracts signed. Bit like when national leaders meet.
-
Team are stuttering bit of late, looks likely they have found their level at last and it's going to get a whole lot tougher moving forward. Guess standards everywhere are improving as the women's game enjoys ever increasing popularity. It may be a race to keep up from now on.
