The only way I culd see it gaining its importance back, is if the winners entered the Champions League. Take away the CL place for 4th place. It wont happen, but you wouldnt see any weaker teams played then.

The depth of squad we have is fantastic. What pleases me most is having the full back positions covered. Always felt we were dreadfull there over the last 5 years or so, so to have 2 quality players in both fullback positions pleases me.

Good god some of these scousers on the phone ins are stupid. Were make the top 3 was just said by one of them.

The logic being if we were say in the EPL, chances are we wouldnt have a game if we were out the cup in say round 4 or 5. In League 1 most eams are out by that stage so you still get a game. Not that hard to understand really.
