  1. Pet peeves about driving: - drivers who indicate a lane-change with a single flash of their indicator-light, when they are already half-way into that lane, or who indicate a turn, when they have already begun that turn. Why even bother? You should indicate to give advanced notice of your impending move, not decorate a move you are already engaged in. - drivers who brake suddenly and then indicate a turn. Indicate first, in plenty of time; then use your brakes just before you turn. - drivers who use the off-ramp on a major highway (motorway) to overtake vehicles in the slow lane. - drivers ("lane-hoppers") who constantly change lanes on a congested three-lane road. - slow drivers who insist on staying in the middle lane of a three-lane road, because they don't want to deal with vehicles in the on-ramp entering the road. Really? Is it that difficult to slow down or speed up occasionally, in order to adjust to road conditions? - drivers who do not come to a complete stop at a red light, merely slowing down a bit before turning right AND simultaneously neglecting to yield to the traffic that has right-of-way, forcing those vehicles to slow down. - drivers who do not cross from the fast-lane to the slow lane of a three-lane road in stages, as they move over towards the exit-ramp, but insist on crossing those three lanes in as short a distance as possible, forcing other vehicles to brake in the middle- and slow-lanes. - drivers who have the front windows of their cars so darkly tinted that you cannot see them and, therefore, cannot communicate with them or fathom what their intentions are. - drivers who follow too closely, even when the traffic is congested. It's not as though you are blocking the way, or slowing down traffic. - drivers who begin texting, when they are waiting at traffic lights - generally speaking, drivers who turn into a selfish ego-maniac behind the wheel--not able, apparently, to imagine that the other vehicles on the road are not solely inanimate objects, but are operated by human beings similar to themselves
  2. Watching birds at the feeder in the garden. Marmite on toast. First beer of the day. Interesting cloud formations racing across blue skies on a sunny day. A large mug of Darjeeling tea. A long hike through the woods. A day spent on holiday in a new town or city taking photographs.
  3. 11th or 12th--if we can get rid of three or four high-wage players and bring in four or five players in key positions (CBs, RB and strikers). I hope RH will take the lead in bringing in relatively "cheap" players that fit his system.
  4. They joined the league in 1970 (the second expansion, which increased the NHL from 12 teams to 14). They've never won the Stanley Cup, but been in the Finals twice--1975 and 1999.
  5. "... dangers of YouTube scouting". Do you really think the club relies on YouTube videos to find players or to confirm their worth? One would hope not.
  6. I don't understand the apathy of some of these responses. We should go all out to win both of our last two games. There's a chance to get an extra 7 million pounds in prize money. Plenty of time for the players to relax during the off-season.
  7. Does RH give the impression of a manager with little ambition?
  8. He's not saying that 40 points is the final target, is he?! And it makes sense not to talk about specific goals for next season until he sees what the squad is going to be.
  9. Here. Come on, Saints!
  10. Come on, Saints!
  11. Thanks for the memories!
  12. Excellent performance from Saints. We outplayed them for long periods of that game. It certainly showed how far we've come under RH.
  13. Official site says "to be confirmed".
  14. Bonhoeffer quoted on Saints Web Forum! Amazing. He was a great, great man. I studied his life and work many years ago (late 70s) at university.
  15. This game was on TV over here. After a frightening opening 5 minutes, we grew into the game. Very proud of the Saints' performance today. Everyone put in a good shift. Unlucky not to come way with a point. More hopeful now that we can stay up.
  16. But that's all I have to rely on—apart from the text.
  17. Lost the live commentary with AB and DM about ten minutes ago. The commentary kept cutting in and out last weekend. What's the problem? So annoying!
  18. I had Sneaky Feelings there'd be No Action.
  19. Interesting stat from the BBC report of our match: "In matches involving Leicester City in the Premier League this season, there has been nine red cards shown (four for, five against), the most of any club in the division." They also report that Leicester had 72% possession and out-shot Saints 23 to 8.
