Yes, but better to get well away from city-light.

I rely on Blackmore and Merrington for every game commentary. I've subscribed to Saints Player for many years. It's good - although annoying when the pre-game is delayed for away games 'til 10 or 15 minutes before kick-off. They usually have two or three ****-ups with connections each year, but overall it is worth subscribing when you live overseas.

Graeme Swann, Lawro's opponent this week, is a Newcastle fan. He says: "It's a good job it is not at Southampton because we always lose there but teams don't come to St James' Park and come away with anything. 2-0". I suppose he missed last year's game: Newcastle 1 vs 2 Southampton.

This is good news. Don't we tend to lose whenever he predicts us to win!!

I remember George Cole most from his role as the young Ebeneezer Scrooge in the classic film starring Alastair Sim.

That is funny!

Thanks for this; it's been perfect - no problems at all!

For me the most important thing about today's game -- and, I know, it seems an obvious point -- was that goal by Jay. Did it not seem, in the final phase of last season, that we lacked just the sort of finishing that Rodriguez showed today? Didn't it seem to be that we wanted to "walk the ball" into the net? We need more of the quality long-range shooting that Jay demonstrated today. I hope we get a lot more of that from Saints this season.

Not a particular favourite of mine as a singer (as Burt Bacharach points out in this great video, her voice often had a harsh, strident edge to it), but she had a wonderful, down-to-earth personality. This video features the recording of "Alfie" at Abbey Road Studios. George Martin is the producer, and Burt Bacharach is the arranger, conductor and pianist.

Thanks for that! That's a great goal!

Jeez, I'm not trying to prove anything! I just admire Rickie Lambert. And am trying to counter the negative vibe against him. Is that OK?

I see; why even bother to score against such mediocre opposition? What's the point? Maybe he should have even refused to play against such a ****ty team.

How about that for answering his critics!

Nice one!

So, you're alright, Jack!

You neglected to include 'retired' in your list of options - which, happily, I am (as of one month ago).

Nice bit of condescending sarcasm there. I wasn't questioning the nature of the technology; I was criticizing the verbal infelicity. -
Welcome. Thanks for that insight.

"... contactless payments ..." WTF? -
Come on, man! The concept of the thread is to recommend a film and a book. You recommended something that you haven't read ... because "the TV series is fantastic". No, that doesn't offend me. I just find it rather ... um ... funny!

This is meant as satire, right?

No, it's not "according to me". This is not my "opinion" versus your "opinion". I'm pointing out to you the facts. You opinion does not trump the facts, simply because it's your opinion. The Chretien Liberals, you say, attempted "to turn Canada into a police state" - another ridiculous opinion that bares no resemblance to the facts. No, I "never answered" that other point you mentioned. Why should I bother? I have provided many facts to you in previous posts that you have simply ignored; I put many reasonable arguments to you in good faith in previous posts that you refused to acknowledge. You ignore the facts; you evade reasonable debate: you reply with nonsense, childish insults, or silly non sequitors. This is my final communication with you in this particular thread. And that's a fact.

Some people are great with the literal, but not so good with the ironic. When Randy Newman put out his song about bigotry called "Short People", many people completely misconstrued his meaning and complained about his apparent prejudice against the height-challenged!
