Yes. But there is an extra element at work here. The US has always considered ALL of North and South America (including the Caribbean) as its sphere of influence. It has never tolerated communist governments within that sphere. Thus, the continuing embargo against Cuba. They invaded Grenada when Maurice Bishop (a Marxist) took over. They engaged in a long covert war (funding and training the "contras") against the Sandinista government in Nicaragua. They also covertly toppled the elected governnent in Chile because Allende was a Marxist. The Cuban Missile Crisis was a double whammy - inside the zone the US considered "its own" (cold-war thinking) AND being pushed by Castro (a Marxist).

Would you be kicked out of the EuroZone

In the Guardian! Bit of fun? Or bit of drivel? [i came out as teutonic! Jawohl!] -
So, your objection to two particular columnists makes the entire paper drivel. Interesting logic.

Who I Am by Pete Townshend. Excellent (he really knows how to write) autobiography. Searingly honest. Very informative. A must-read for any Who fan.

New Van Morrison CD - Born To Sing: No Plan B. Very jazzy. Three-piece horn section. Lots of improvising. Morrison fully engaged this time. Best album by him in many a year. If you're a fan, don't miss this one!

Silly comment. Just because you don't agree with the political stance doesn't make it drivel.

Well, I disagree. Good or bad leadership can have a tremendous effect on the morale and, therefore, the performance of any group or team. Just look at the Saints. The lack of strong leadership on the pitch has been a long-standing weakness of the team. A good captain is usually a key element in a highly-successful team.
-
Rooney is not worthy to be captain, because of his on-field behaviour (lack of effort, lack of self-control, and lack of leadership attributes) and his off-field conduct (lack of moral fibre - an old-fashioned attitude, I grant you, but one I still believe in).

Adkins suicidal substitutions once again cost us!

Man, don't you read? As I already said, I'm not moaning! -
Adkins suicidal substitutions once again cost us!
Hamilton Saint replied to Mr X's topic in The Saints
I'm not moaning - just giving my opinion! Guly may have given us "a little bit extra", in your opinion, but no goals. So how is that essentially a major improvement on Lambert, who came much closer to scoring than Guly did? -

Hamilton Saint replied to Mr X's topic in The Saints
I thought replacing Lambert was a mistake; he looked most likely to be the one to score. Puncheon held on to the ball too long - attacks broken up often when he was caught in possession. Hope Ramirez gets back soon! -
Look again; he mentions him in the last sentence of the large paragraph.

And forming plurals with an apostrophe is f.ucking annoying too, eh?

Not worrying at all, if you understand the difference between the two sets of phenomena! It's not the distance that matters, here; it's the size and speed.

Noodles and Chalet are wrong! He received the goods; he was provided the service; he's morally obliged to pay.

Come on, Saints!

A fanatic is one who can't change his mind and won't change the subject. He has all of the virtues I dislike and none of the vices I admire. I cannot pretend to be impartial about the colours. I rejoice with the brilliant ones, and am genuinely sorry for the poor browns.

Global warming really is happening... (well, duh!)

Muller, conducted was funded, in part, "by the Charles G. Koch Charitable Foundation. Koch and his brother David are the billionaire owners of Koch Industries Inc., the conglomerate with annual revenues estimated at $100 billion, and are known for bankrolling conservative causes." -
"Pre-Owned Cars", instead of Used Cars. Think about it. If you really think this will work, then it ought to be Previously-Owned Cars, eh? "Pre-Owned Cars" implies cars right off the factory floor - cars that have not been owned yet.

The web site run by The Atlantic magazine, The Atlantic Wire, recently did an on-line poll of disliked words and phrases. The word 'moist' was cited most often and most emphatically. http://www.theatlanticwire.com/entertainment/2012/08/dictionary-despicable-words/55464/

You're correct about the PL; I don't know about the FL.

OK - thanks! I think I'll add that to the "Words and sayings that wind you up" thread in the Muppet Show!
