I know its about opinions, but I don't know how you can even mention Yoshida with regard to their first goal. The ball from Henderson was threaded through between Fonte and a fast-retreating Clyne. If Yoshida had been anywhere near that ball then he would have been sacked by the manager for gross incompetence, he was doing his job over the other side of the pitch. Sadly it was a great ball but ultimately it had been the result of a foul on Tadic and a poor attempt at a tackle by Schneiderlin (one that had he been fully fit would have been easy meat for Morgan). Yoshida did make two awful passes in the first half although in both cases we got away with them, but no way was he in any way at fault for their first. Watch the links again.

Agreed, combined with the Sky interview which seemed to contains some of the same stuff but also some different stuff, he was clearly upset with what went on BEFORE he left and from the Sky one clearly with the people that KL had brought in (so definitely not Les Reed). Seemed genuinely distressed about what happened. I guess with SRL as opposed to the scumbags who left later, the problem arose from the fact that we were ready to offload him back in January, and would probably have done so if Osvaldo had not attacked Jose and made it impossible for him (Osvaldo) to stay, and thus make Rickie indispensable. I'm afraid that what happened to SRL is closely associated with KL and what happened with her new people and the departure of Cortese.

Clearly nothing to do with Reed, it was about people that KL brought in.

Seems quite clear to me that it was referring to either Krueger or the German guy who has left, or both. AFAIK there was no-one else of significance new at the Club at the time that SRL left.

So, whats our Uruguayan Superstar's latest sob-story ?
VectisSaint replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
Very true, from post #1 not a sensible post to be seen, just the usual abuse from you about one of our players who was not even involved today. Nothing sensible from you about how we played, about the performances of the team, about how some players didn't perhaps play too well, just abuse and lack of sense. Still we should be used to it by now I guess. The forum would not be the same without you would it? -

I thought actually that he did work the keeper, just not very hard. I'm sure his shot was on target, perhaps you saw a shot that I didn't. Tried to place the ball, should have leathered it. Then again, Prowsey should have taken the shot on in the first place, either bottled it or was unselfish depending on your pov. Just watched it again and now I know I wasn't imaging things, he did work the keeper, in fact Mignolet had to stretch to get it. Doesn't get away from the fact that Davis should have smashed it higher and wider though.

Very impressed by Bertrand. We really did not miss Shaw today and probably we have a better LB this season than Shaw would have been. What we won't have is the improved Shaw that another season or two will probably bring. Tadic is quite exciting to watch, but his fitness levels need to improve so that he is up to speed, that will come though. Was it just me but it seems like JWP has grown an inch or two since last season. I kept thinking who is that tallish blond player in our shirt before quickly realising it was Prowsey (I wasn't watching in HD by the way). Yoshida was pretty good apart from a couple of risky passes early on, considering he hasn't really played since about March apart from for Japan he showed again why he is decent backup, saved us once with one brilliant tackle. Not sure what to think of Fraser, really didn't have much to do, but certainly his kicking and distribution are very good, Boruc's only real weaknesses when his brain is in gear. Pelle was hugely disappointing, looks far too slow and his positional sense in the box is woeful, will have to man-up a lot to make an impression in the PL which is worrying. Davis was good today, but of course his terrible miss will have everyone howling, whereas JWP should have taken the shot on before it got to SD. Morgan was a yard or two off the pace, a fully fit Morgan would never have allowed Henderson to get the ball to Sterling for the first, he would either of got the ball or at worst fouled him. Isgrove does look good, and tracks back well to help out in defence. We really could have done with Gaston today though, game was made for him and his creativity. Wanyama was immense today, although ultimately he cost us the game with a pathetic header, he should have left it for Yoshida to clear powerfully, but then maybe Yoshi did not call, who knows. Big shout also for our new skipper, thought Fonte was very good today and lead then team well.

Well clearly they did, and it coincided with SRL coming on the pitch. Gave them a lift, didn't last long but had exactly the desired effect.

Rubbish. He wasn't the best player on the field but to say he was **** all game is just completely and utterly wrong. His main problem is that he is knocked off the ball too easily, but he was actually very good at getting the ball today and working the corners and free kcicks well. He needs to be more confident in taking on a shot. Pelle was about as useful today as Gerrard, two of the most anonymous performances seen.

Not just on US TV. He was short on the tackle, Morgan would normally have taken that one on his stride or at least given away a foul. But it should have been a free kick for the wrestling of Tadic, and then Clyne wwas caught too far upfield.

Problem with the OP is that he is just comparing players out with players in. I too think that Lambert going was no great problem, Pelle is a good prospect, and replacing Lallana with Tadic is probably not a downgrade. Lovren was never as good as some people thougt and was helped out so many times by Fonte getting him out of jail. Shaw willbecome a great player, but like for like Bertrand is currently as good if not better. I have a big problem that we let Chambers go, big mistake and unneccesary, and sorry to say but I don't think Forseter is currently better than Boruc (England's No 3 better than Poland's No 1, no way Jose) but he may be in a year or two. No, the two big problems that are not covered are (a) the loss of the togetherness and team spirit, and (b) more importantly we have failed completely to address the issue of a very poor squad in terms of depth. Brendan Rodgers was quoted yesterday that we were heading for the CL, we clearly had a team (11 or 12) that were capable of beating anyone in the PL on their day. But we don't have a squad with enough depth to cover injuries and suspensions and that is what ultimately prevents us ever breaking into the top 6. Well we ended last season with a very small squad and we are now in the same situation but this time at the start of the season, we have not strengthened the squad. We appear to have gone backwards in the goalkeeping department if Boruc has been alienated, stood still in our weak area at CB, if Jos is still "on the roster" we know we are in trouble, and gone seriously backwards in the LB position. Anyway we'll see how we get on today and in the next few weeks, but to say we have done great this summer really is stretching it a bit, rose tinted glasses and all that.

Looks like a pretty even split to me. http://www.talkceltic.net/forum/showthread.php?t=144508&page=5 This poster seems to think that Artur shades it: "Boruc was on a different level compared to forster, Forster is overrated as ****, he has a lot of weaknesses in his game but is a great shot stopper so it makes him look good all the time. There was a point where I honestly though Boruc was in the top 10 keepers in the world while he was playing with us, Forster is no where near that." I think FF will become as good if not better than Boruc, but I really don't think he is right now and I think Koeman may regret not handling this better by easing FF in gradually rather than alienating Boruc from the get go.

Only people who know feck all about football would have described him thus. Was clearly a great talent, really can't understand how we let him go. Big mistake, because I really don't believe that he would have had a release clause in his contract.
