Exactly, no recall allowed for outfield players, has to go through two transfer windows. There is a report doing the rounds attributed to goal.com, that Chelsea have a clause in the agreement that they could recall during the January window. I think this is bullshit. Clubs cannot put clauses in contracts that would deliberately contravene PL/FA rules. This has only come about because Chelsea have lost 2 strikers to injury, but they showed on the weekend (v Norwich) and last night that it really isn't an issue.

Completely wrong. Recalls from season-long loans are no longer allowed in the Premier League under any circumstances. The only exception to this is for goalkeepers. The rules for loans have changed several times in the last few years, but at the moment this is the case. Apart from arrangements to do with who pays the player and how much, the conditions of a loan are not arrangements between two clubs, they are subject to very clear rules set out by the Premier League.

He made our goal, but KWP gets the assist (for a very good piece of work) and Che gets the glory. Only saw the 2nd half but he didn't do much wrong that I could see.

Carabao Cup tonight so he should be fine. -
Do you get more points for a good save than a marginally good one? A save is a save is a save. What is a marginally good save anyway. As for opposing strikers shooting against him pre-match, that would be interesting, but I would think the opposing strikers are more likely to be buzzing about shooting against him during the match itself. One of the daftest posts I have read on here, and that's saying something.

Thought he was OK yesterday. His distribution was not good (awful one to put Salisu in trouble) but otherwise did nothing wrong. He will never be s great keeper, but he's clearly the best we have, wouldn't be surprised to see a new keeper in January.

Just a thought, but maybe Pompey was postponed due to international callups. England played Northern Ireland, don't think there are Saints players in England, but Rafferty and Watling play for Norn Iron. Don't know why there is so little information about it though.

It was announced on Pompey women's site on 18th that their matches had been rearranged, no explanation though. Pompey v Saints now on Wednesday December 15th. No mention on OS, all references to it were removed. Thought perhaps a cup game took preference but their game against Hounslow today is League. Very odd but typical of our awful Web site.

Broja was learly limping as he came off.

As long as he tinkers enough to start Stu Armstrong, if he is fit (sounds like he is) it would be madness not to include him.

Next thing you know we will be getting the Police Dog Display team at half-time (maybe next time we play the Skates at home, could be a long time).

Can't do it for 2 seasons.

Agreed, didn't like to add that, it would probably have upset some of the doom mongers here.

We were missing JWP, Stephens and Adams

Some desperate person who hasn't heard of Biggin Hill. FFS.

What I don't understand is why it took the FA nearly 2 weeks to bring this charge. Not surprised thay have done so. When will the FA be charged with bringing the game into disrepute?

Might swap Danny Fox for Jelle.

It shouldn't, but most of the male referees are shocking.

You ignored the fact that the U21s team do not get regularly thrashed in this competition, you are basing your nonsense views on one result (i.e. the latest game). We won't get drawn against Pompey, we are kept apart in group games, and given we don't qualify for knock-out we wouldn't get them in the knock out stages either. If we did its quite likely that we would bolster our team with more senior players as we are allowed to do. The league teams who play in this tournament also tend to play quite a lot of non-first choice players, rather than their full strength teams, at least in the group stages. A major point of renaming the u23s to the B Team is to enable more matches like this, i.e. against non-Academy opposition, to withdraw the team in future from the EFL Trophy would be totally against what Saints are trying to do.

What makes you think he will play. He has brought in to the squad as a replacement, think there is a good chance Southgate won't actually give him any match time, or maybe just a second half sub. I thought before his recall that his chance had already gone, just knowing the way Southgate works, once discarded that's it usually.
-
This is daft, we should be playing more games like this, against proper opposition instead of pampered academy kids. This is actually only the second time in 3 years we lost by more than 1 goal in this competition.

In normal circumstances it is not possible for two teams from the National Southern Division to be promoted, and as you suggested even the winners only go into a play-ff with the winners from the Northern Division, so even as Southern Champions promotion is not guaranteed. Even then the winners need to meet licencing criteria to be promoted. But note this is in normal circumstances. Assumes the season is not curtailed again of course, bear in mind both Saints and Ipswich were not automtically promoted to the Southern Division, they had to apply for dispensation and that was granted. There is still a lot of fluidity in the Womens game with teams folding and so on so there is always the possibility that more teams might be promoted than expected, but i guess this is less likely at the higher (tiers 1 & 2) levels.
