Many people on here have been asking why Alan Pardew does not pick or rate Simon Gillett to start in in our first team. Last night I spoke with AP at Hungerford and asked him outright to why this was. What we have to remember is that he works with him eveyday in training and we only see the players at matches. so when asked why AP replied " I don't think he is quite showing me enough at the moment , but i do like him and i think he is a great passer of the ball. I am here tonight so that he and a couple of others can show me what they can do in the match" When I said most people on this forum thought he was one of our best players in a poor team last year in the championship, we found it difficult to understand why he was being overlooked at a lower level. AP replied" I will take it on board on board" I then asked him if there were any other incoming players and he said "may be a couple" The scouts from Carlisle were looking at Ollie Lancashire, whilst I think Swindon's Mike Marshall took pardew's eye... an absolutely lightning fast winger who caused major problems and not the lad who played against us at The County Ground

I think Jaidi & Gillett will be on the bench with Holmes. I wouldnt be suprised to See Papa Waigo and Patterson start the game
-
been to the game, and a few encouraging signs tonight, Jaidi looked solid, Gillett had a good game but picked up a slight knock. Papa was finding his feet a bit but took his goal well after a good move down the left to equalise but no dance! Mellis then scored with a good shot from about 12 yards out. Goal of the night was scored by Gillet after a break from defence involvinmg about 5 or 6 decent passes tore the Swindon defence apart then Gillett shot from 20 yards beating the keeper all ends up. Tafawotsit scored an own goal, before Swindon hit the bar twice. F-T Swindon 2 Saints 3 Mr Pardew was in attendance and must have been pleased with the performances of Sam Argent, Lee Holmes, Jaidi, Papa, & Gillett and should be in contention for saturday. Lee Molyneux was named but didnt start as he picked up an injury.

I'm based in Aldbourne, so this is a very local game for me and it's raining at the moment so we may get wet tonight

I'm going as it's only 6 miles from home.. for those coming up you need to come off the A34 and follow signs for the A4 Hungerford. Hungerford is about 7 miles further on. when you come into Hungerford you go over mini roundabout, straight ahead at next roundabout, then left at the next (A338 salisbury) follow this for approx 3/4 mile then you will see the borough pub on the left. Straight ahead at mini roundabout then second turning left, then the ground is then 2nd turning left again (Bulpit Lane). Don't forget it is 7pm kick off
-
Saints Reserves will be away V Swindon Town reserves on Tuesday night 7PM kick off. This game is being played at Hungerford Town FC, 10mins west of Newbury on the A4. it's a nice ground with decent clubhouse etc Will we see Jaidi, Papa Waigo, & Holmes play in this game ??????

so if he is a free agent what have we got to lose other than money- there are not many loan signings that bust a gut but Camara is a quality player and would be like us signing a top player if we were in the top flight. This would be an absolute "no brainer " if a deal can be done to bring Camara back to Saints
-
My gut feeling is we will have signed Matt Holland on a permanent deal and done loan deals for either Chris Baird/ Maurice Volz (Fulham) and Simon Cox (WBA). i am not ITK but feel i wont be too far wide of the mark
-
Trouble is that the rivalry between Milwall and West Ham was glorified on the big screen with Green Street and now the idiots supporting either club thinks it's the thing to do and kick **** out of each other
-
maybe a short term contract for Maurice Volz who is still training at Fulham whilst needing another club.... and has the experience we desperatly need at RB

Should we change the stand names at St. Marys
The Fat Controller replied to dickyhale's topic in The Saints
I would like to see the following The Kingsland stand called The Alan Ball Stand The Northam called The Bobby Stokes Stand The Itchen called The McMenemy Stand The Chapel called The Ron Davies Stand In fairness Terry Paine, Matt Le Tiss and Co have suites in their name likewise with Ted Bates having a statue -
I think we could do worse than trying our chances in loaning in Jack Cork and Nigel Quashie to bolster our midfield
-
We need an outfield captain ASAP

Dean Hammond was at Swindon tonight and who know's that he may decide not sign for us after what he saw tonight?? -
Message to club - Any DANGER of signing a CB or two
The Fat Controller replied to Thedelldays's topic in The Saints
Davis Murty - Perry - Thomas - Harding Lallana - Schneiderlin - Hammond - Holmes Lambert - Saganowski youd be better off with James at RM then Lallana floating behind Lambert -
if we continue like this we will be in league 2
-
this has to rate as one of our worse 5 performnces since relegation due to the following: inability again to defend a set piece yet they practice this every day Our midfield being over run defending too deep No width No creativity No leadership 70+ minutes to make a substitution which could of been done at half time when they got the hand jestures at the end they were deserved apart from Harding and Kelvin Davis. I think that Pardew has to take on board comments from supporters groups like this , as we pay good money to watch the game and unfairly our team doesn't turn up. In any other industry you would get fired if you didn't do your job properly

no i just live and work in Swindon
-
Small real ale pub not very many women use it if you get my drift...
-
The cricket club is up a back alley and not sign posted
-
very limited off street parking especially off queens drive. The Bulldog pub on queens drive is a no go area so be warned.... full of **** heads Safest best is to meet up in the merlin and it is kid friendly for those going to the game with a family
-
just posted link to this pub on the main forum
-
I have contacted the management at The Merlin Pub which is 5 minutes away from The County Ground. They are willing to accept Southampton supporters to the pub and will also welcome children. Please note that parking restrictions in Swindon are a bloody nightmare and very expensive to park in The County ground Car park. The Merlin Grove Rd Swindon, SN1 3AF 01793 431496 The pubs in Swindon Town Centre will be heavily policed throughout the afternoon.- see you in there

I doubt that the police will let use Weatherspoons to be honest as they never normally do. We will probably be directed to a pub called The Grove which is the opposite side of magic roudabout past the fire station. Wilts Old bill normally round up large numbers of away fans and escort them from the rail station to the County Ground
