Even Leicester spent a fair bit of money on their title winning team. Okay it's a pittance compared to what City and Liverpool spend but they still poached players from other clubs for transfer fees. I've never actually seen anyone refer to Liverpool as plucky underdogs or similar but I can probably believe their fans think that about themselves. Liverpool fans are very strange, they need a lot of reassurance and compliments from other clubs' fans.

Every club to have won the league since about 1960 has bought it. They have money. Why wouldn't they spend it? This "they bought the league" crap is as tedious as people who whinge about teams "parking the bus" because their own team couldn't break them down.

Granted, if you look at the reports in isolation and look at nothing else, it may seem a bit worrying however if you then look at Burnley, Leeds, Palace (I think they're better now but at the time they had a huge wage bill) etc it looks a lot brighter and you definitely have to factor in Covid as well. I disagree that either John or Rasiak were lazy. They didn't run around a lot but they were both pretty slow. They played to their strengths and did what they were good at, scored goals. RVN rarely ventured outside the final third of the pitch but he certainly wasn't lazy.

Yes, you're right. Did a great job in the circumstances. I think I was putting him in just because actual memories of his time at Saints seem to be very cult-like. There's a lot of Saints fans who just don't remember him at all.

I stand corrected. I remember the game but can't remember Saga playing in it. But maybe that's why he only played half a dozen times. Thought he'd left us in the summer prior.

I don't think Saga ever played under Pardew Though I completely respect what Pardew did the other day in walking away from his job in protest of racism, this is the first time in his 20 year management career that he hasn't behaved like a petulant child. Remember when a Solent reporter asked him a question and he said "Well what do you think?!" Granted it was a silly question and though I can't remember what it was, they just need to fill up some soundbites so you just have to go through the motions when it comes to reporters if you're a player or manager.
