Pretty much a standard early pre-season performance. No need to draw any conclusions really. The McCarthy kicking and conceding did make me smile somewhat. Liked what we saw of the new keeper: vocal and commanding; will be surprised if he isn't number one very quickly.

I'm a bit 'hmmmm' about this. Very good at times: some good finishing, but too selfish, doesn't hold it up as well, or provide the physical presence I'd expect. Has some developing to do. Like him, but £30M seems very steep.

Absolutely. Fantastic defender, and worth every penny of the £30M fee. In fact that's a bargain. Gutted when he goes; honest. But delighted if he signs from Brendan, particularlly after the supportive comments he made about us in his previous job. Truely: our defence will not be the same with Bednarek in it.

Apparently we have a good relationship with Chelsea. The write up about our young keeper moving there was interesting. So prefer Dibling to go there than Newcastle. Maybe he'll become a regular first teamer for them; maybe he won't push on at all. Whatever: good luck to the young man.
