So to answer you post which is a good argument - Austin played one game we had an international break (the first or second in season)he was then rested after playing 1 game cant remember game but my point is with strikers they need to play and get match time - although with Austin playing him wide left and watching him try and chase down the full back was pitiful too. My point and not explained very well was over Christmas we had one winneable game WBA at home he should have prioritised that and put out the best side when has any successful side changed 3 of its back 4? Puel himself moaned about lack of training time and just being able to use the gap for tactics and getting ready - agreed but my point is has he now improved the side that well now that he has had time since we went out of Europa and the F A Cup game? With our facilities he has had plenty of time and surely professional footballers should be able to manage twice a week? Have we really only had 2 first choice CB all season? Fonte has declared he wanted to play? Puel himself even stated he could try Bertrand there so we had options but were not tried - we were shipping goals but didnt attempt to plug that but went for the ultra defensive shape we have seen at home. We are 8th so on paper its worked and he has achieved what we wanted him to with the shocking support he has had from above and again from his staff and my points are probably irrelevant but just I think we could have done better. I also think injuries to Pied and McCarthy were a bigger blow than we realise certainly in the FA game where poor Harry Lewis was hardly a game for his development behind that side. PS We had enough time to switch from the diamond why not 3-5-2?

This doesn't sound like he is expecting to go does it? Puel said: "We will see if Soares can play this game and also for Ryan Bertrand. They have some pain, some tiredness, but we will see this tomorrow and the day of the game to see if they are available. "Shane Long also is unlucky with his broken metatarsal, but we will see him next season."

Tweets, current page. Tweets & replies Media Adam Blackmore @AdamBlackmore 14m14 minutes ago Puel has overseen some dull football and #saints home form may have done for him. But I think he deserves a chance to put it right. 17 replies 0 retweets 15 likes Adam Blackmore @AdamBlackmore 18m18 minutes ago Unfortunately football is about more than managing a season, which Puel has done well. His selfless nature works against him - shame. 4 replies 1 retweet 14 likes Adam Blackmore @AdamBlackmore 21m21 minutes ago Even just now when I pressed Claude Puel about how he feels about all the recent criticism & boring football, he was calm & modest #saintsfc 2 replies 2 retweets 15 likes Adam Blackmore @AdamBlackmore 23m23 minutes ago If that is my last pre-match interview with Claude Puel it is a shame. 8th in PL, Cup Final, key injuries & sales & he's put under a bus.

He is a bit busy with Belgium...

Austin played 1 game in 19 days and was rested, we changed 3 of the back 4 versus WBA yet Yoshida played 3 games in a week, since we have been out of Europe have the league form and performances improved, since Puel has spent more time on the training ground have the performance improved - away yes home? Did we change formation to suit the players available of stick with the rigid pattern? The best side in the country played 3-5-2 did we try that we have 2 of the best attacking full backs in the country suited to that formation - did we try Bertrand in the centre like Koeman did? All valid arguments put up before and ignored...its all the fans fault brigade. Not backed by the board but has he utilised the resources he has well?

Really chuffed to see Afridi back

Why do the Puel out mob have to decide on a replacement? Our blackbox already has a number of candidates surely? I agree its harsh given what he has had to endure from our board - maybe he will get another year and backing in the market...just a question do you think Koeman/Poch/Pardew would have put up with us not signing a centre half in January? How come with all Puels knowledge of French football we couldnt find one defender suitable and had to rely on a player that hadn't played for a year and not fit to start 1 minute in 12 games?

Read back your post history you do nothing else...

I suggest you buy a box of Balsam Tissues soon because your constant crying on here will have your nose very sore. If the board and players are not happy with Puel he will go no matter what a handful of people on a message board say. I must have missed all the marches and protests outside of SMS by all the Puel out rampant mob. Most have given valid reasons why yet you and 2 or 3 others bleat like big girls blouses about it over and over again. Puel has done a decent job given the lack of support from the board but is he going to take us on....not in my opinion going by his lack of tactical nous and treatment of some players who it seems are unhappy if reports are to be believed. Its the fans fault sob sob not the fact his tactics are ever to blame. I have posted several times I think his support staff are as bad and not helped him. Have I mentioned about Stuart Taylor signing yet....

Also any changes were hampered by Pied having to come on for Cedric meaning one less sub. I would have taken off the ineffectual Tadic who was creating nothing at least JWP was with his delivery.

I was disappointed to see him go (didn't boo just a slight moan) he put in some great free kicks and I like how he now was looking to pass forward more now than sideways. Its my problem at moment some like JWP, Jayrod, Hojberg and Clasie put in good performances yet get dropped for people like Tadic who are doing nothing in games. Not sure what else JWP could have done last night and didn't deserve the hook. He offers good protection to the full back too.

Rodriguez came on at that time not Boufal though - who did well I thought. I am sure Gabi played as second striker before and would like to see him have closer support. I am a bit down on Tadic at moment as he has been poor lately yet gets picked Wouldn't two strikers at least be worth a try when 0-0. You think Austin is off then? Why did Tadic stay on? Could we not have bought on Austin a proven goalscorer when we can't hit a cow's arse as well as Gabi? Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk -
Not sure if posted but saw this and it makes me even more concerned about Lander and Chines owners. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/may/17/milan-new-chinese-owners-money-li-yonghong

What I didn't understand is why the Clyde Best lookalike in midfield was allowed to stroll around unchallenged for most of the game doing what he wanted with no-one anywhere near him....when do you ever see that in the Prem even at our worst we do close down the space. PS Thats the Clyde Best now not the good player at his prime :-)

Watford sack Materazzi - no surprise really

In a way I do too as he has not been backed by the board, his coaching staff appear poor, defensively tactics are good as Liverpool games showed, however, there are multiple reasons I can give why I think he needs to go. The Hull game showed those why its time, taking off Gabbi and replacing him with Long instead of as well as, just like for like subs. Spurs home where Rose was murdering us and he just put out the same players in same positions after being mullered for 25 minutes. His treatment of some players that do well then get dropped for games on end and not even in squad...how is that good for morale? Changing 3 of the back 4 in our only probable winning game over Christmas v West Brom - "resting" Austin who had played 1 game in 19 days yet Yoshida played 3 in a week. The sight of Austin played wide left trying to chase the full back will haunt me for ages it was pitiful :-) I couldn't give 2 figs if he is French/German/Belgium/Spanish or how he interviews just I want him to play decent football and have the ability to change a game in our favour and I personally have not seen him do that apart from Davis at Bournemouth. On paper he doesn't deserve the sack but is he really the right man to take us forward I am not so sure? He was brought in to get us further in Europe - he failed miserably on that ok not helped by not hitting a cows arse from a yard Virgil but Beer Sheva and Prague were poor. He was brought in for our academy ...they have just been relegated so no surprise to me having watched them as you can't make a silk purse. If he stays fine I will support him and the team as usual - I have renewed - if he goes then I won't cry like a few on here.

He doesn't need to, he is the one journalist that seems to get most stories correct out of SMS/Staplewood.
