  1. That's your opinion and I stand by mine, I really don't think there is much between them. Our most succesfull period has come with James in the side at right back. If we could merge Murtys positioning with Thomas power, Ostemebors pace and James' delivery we would probably have a decent right back.
  2. +1 It's only since we've had an influx of foreign managers that people seem to think players need to be rested. Resting players of Lamberts quality in this league is unheard of, I'd imagine he'd be pretty ****ed off if he was rested for a league game after playing every minute in the JPT.
  3. Can't see Lallana, Schneiderlin or Davis being dropped when fit.
  4. So? James has won the majority of games he's played at right back but you didn't even include him in your opening post. There's no way Bart is a better option than Davis atm, he's been fantastic for us all season. Sometimes stats mean nothing.
  5. Four defeats in thirty is fantastic, but I can't help thinking what might have been if we had managed to hold on in our last three away games before today. Six points dropped, even if we had only managed to hang on in one of those games it could well make the difference at the end of the season. Was so releaved when we got our second today.
  6. Davis - Bart Ostemebor - Murty Jaidi - Seaborne Fonte - Perry Harding - Mills Lallana - Antonio Hammond - James Schneiderlin - Gobern Puncheon - Holmes Lambert - Barnard Connolly - Waigo I think the priority in the summer has to be getting rid of all the squad players outside those 22 and replacing the weak links - Murty, Holmes and Perry.
  7. Lallana and Puncheon are the best two wingers in our squad by a long way, Antonio will make a good impact sub and Waigo is best used up front - can't see Holmes getting anywhere near our starting XI now. I think Ostemebor's pace is important to the side, not 100% sure if he's a better option than James though. Connolly is still our best striker to play with Lambert, not too fussed between Barnard and Waigo. Barnards game is probably better suited away from home.
  8. Was his best performance today, I think he is a decent option but most of the clever play on our right hand side was coming from Puncheon creating all sorts of space for Ostemebor, fair play to the lad for getting up and down the line so much, really stretched Norwich.
  9. Bit hard to play football on that pitch at Exeter but you have a point, if we just go over the top to Lambert and miss out the midfield we're neglecting the strongest area of our team. Nice to see us back to our best on the ball today, moving it around well and taking the **** out of a very good side at times, just need to keep up the same level of performance on Tuesday or the result will be meaningless.
  10. Just got back home from Norwich, fantastic result obviously but the most pleasing thing today was the performance it's the best we've played in a long time probably since the Oldham/Southend 3-1 period we went through. The wide men and two full backs really ripped Norwich to pieces, I thought at first having Lallana left and Puncheon right was a mistake and all a bit George Burley but it worked out well with the two of them cutting inside and either taking a player on or slipping it outside to the over lapping fullbacks who where left with loads of space. We defended well from the front, looked solid throughout, retained possesion well and used the ball well in all the right places. There wasn't any hoofing, no long throws etc just a solid footballing performance, we made Norwich look very average. Davis - Didn't have much to do. Was silly of him to get booked we never looked like conceeding so there wasn't any need to time waste. 6/10 Ostemebor - Getting better with every game although I'm still not convinced he's a better option than James. He just seems a bit pedestrian at times and scared to throw himself into tackles. Linked up well with Puncheon at times. 6/10 Jaidi - Just the usual performance we've come to expect from Jaidi no nonsense defending put himself about well, Norwich front men didn't get near us all game. 7/10 Fonte - Didn't have much to do as Norwich really didn't create but as usual his distribution was spot on, really works well with Jaidi. 7.5/10 Harding - Solid in defence and put himself about well. Also Contributed a lot going forward, never looked troubled in defence. 7/10 Puncheon - MOTM, just ahead of Lallana for me. He looked dangerous all game, the Norwich midfield and defence just couldn't cope with him, like Lallana he just popped up all over the place whilst still managing to track his man down the right hand side. Looks like the perfect signing for us. Only downside was missing his chance when he was through on goal just after half time. 9/10 Schneiderlin - Didn't have his best game today, done all the dirty work but his passing game just didn't get going. He ran himself into the ground against Portsmouth so I assume he's still suffering from last weekend, might have been an idea to bring on James towards the end and give him a rest. 5/10 Hammond - Superb performance, back to his best if he can keep up the level of performance from today all season we will be in with a shout of the play offs in May. 8/10 Lallana - One of the best players in the league he showed again today he's class above, could have quite easily come away with a brace, I've no idea how the second one didn't go in very unlucky. We will have a struggle to keep him next season if we're still League one. 9/10 Lambert - Bullied the Norwich back four all game and kept popping up all over the place trying to bring everyone into the game. Fabulous strike for the first goal really thought it was going in, their keeper was no where near it. 7/10 Barnard - Best performance for us by a long way today, I thought he was a bit of a poor signing after the first few games but we all saw he could play today. Well taken brace, could and probably should have been three. 8/10
  11. I don't really see the point. We've been taking decent allocations to most away games this season but always been **** easy to get a ticket. Exeter took a bit of effort but everyone who applied got a ticket in the end.
  12. I've got a job to do in the morning but should be finished in time to play.
  13. I've not been impressed, he's like a slightly taller Simon Gillett playing upfront. Still it's early days, he had a fairly decent scoring record with Southend so he should come good. Being third maybe fourth choice striker is quite a lot of difference to being the main man at a club though, hope he can adapt.
  14. Would be nice to see a team like that but I can't see Pardew being so attacking, I think our front six on Saturday will probably be Lallana and Puncheon wide, Schneiderlin and Hammond in the middle with Waigo and Lambert upfront. Not what I would pick but what I think Pardew will go with.
  15. I think the main problem with our midfield is due to us playing a rigid 442, whenever we play with five across the middle we boss games, our midfielders get into goal scoring positions and the wingers get far more involved. Play Lallana, Hammond, Schneiderlin, Puncheon and Antonio or Papa together for an extended period and we will start getting the best out of our midfield. Hammond and Schniederlin both play far too deep when we play 442 it's not a huge problem when we play good sides (they both looked great on Saturday) but when it's against an average league one side we shouldn't be so negative and one of them should be getting forward.
  16. Exactly, should be an experienced spine with youngsters out wide alongside the pros with more academy players on the bench. Something like... Bart Argent - Perry © - Martin - Reeves Preen - Gobern - Gillett - White Barnard - Doble Would learn far more playing a team like that and the first teamers would get a decent bit of match practice.
  17. Don't see anything to suggest that Barnard is good enough for us, I'd muh rather bring in Schniederlin or Antonio for him. Can't believe you've ignored Schneiderlin completely I must watch a differnt game to most fans he would be my first midfielder on the team sheet.
  18. I'll be on that train with 11 others. No idea where we are heading to when we get to Waterloo mind, should be a laugh. Still annoyed that the JPT is warm up to a Premiership game and not the 4 o'clock kick off.
  19. Hammond wasn't exactly brilliant before his injury, he had a few games after he joined us where he looked brilliant but tailed off quite quickly. As soon as we switched to 4-4-2 he looked out of place and seemed to spend too much time defending and not getting into the final third. I think we should be looking for someone to compliment Schneiderlin rather than Hammond. Not really sure what sort of midfielder we're going to go for in the summer, will depend on whether Pardew can decide on a formation. Personally I think we should go 4-5-1 and sign a top draw holding midfielder and them rotate Puncheon, Lallana, Schneiderlin and Hammond as the two in front with Lloyd James the utility man.
  20. Last game of the season against Forest. From what I've seen of him which is probably about 10 games he looks decent enough, nothing special though.
  21. I get the feeling Pardew wants rid of a lot of our fringe players and thinks by not playing them in reserve games he might convince them to leave sooner.
  22. Will be getting the 6.55 train hopefully going early will avoid too much of a squeeze. If not I might just go the night before and stay with my mate in clapham.
  23. Getting tickets for this and Wycombe later, hopefully we win them both to give us an outside chance at play offs, two more performances like the last three league aways and I'd really struggle to find motivation to go to Tranmere and Mk next month. Hopefully we sell a few tickets late in the week and fill our allocation - coyrs! Looking forward to seeing Puncheon play, I think it will be a return to 451 with Antonio dropped for Puncheon and the three new defenders playing again.
  24. Two games missing where Brighton and Oldham, no idea why with Brighton as it got moved ages away. I tried to be unbiased but it's pretty hard, went with favourites most the time hence the bottom four and top two having such good g/d.
  25. I have to work there all the time and it's ****ing horrible. Was doing housing association work in Portsmouth just before Christmas, good money but just horrible. Makes my weeks working in Millbrook seem like a holiday. Never shop there, never eat there, once went on the **** at Gunwharf and that was quite possibly one of worst nights of my life.
