Why was the sacking pointless? You have no idea why he was sacked, if it was unfair on Pardews part I'm sure he'd have been shouting about it, but I suspect NDA's were signed, so we're back that no one knows if it was pointless. Whether it was pointless or not we have to look forward now and start that off with a win at the weekend, Adkins will have seen last night what needs to be done, maybe an arm around Rickie or a Kick up the arse to Hammond, whatever but I'm certain we'll win this weekend and I don't see why we can't start a run of games where we pick up a few points, I reckon we'll get at least 8 points out of the next 4 games.

Seems to me like the job was offered to Adkins, Howe was rung and told the Adkins deal might not go through and would he be on standby as second place. Howe probably said no. I've been there, had an interview, done really well only to be told there was someone more qualified but I'm second in their thoughts and if the other person rejected the job would I like it? Unfortunately the other person got the job. Seems like that's whats happened here to me.

Well you have the administrators of this site and their friends (The9+) who hate Cortese for whatever reasons, maybe they can't get special privileges at the club anymore, or little snippets of gossip or some other rubbish, they are now general run of the mill fans. And as they don't like Cortese they want to beat him down whenever they have the chance, even though he's part of the club they support. In this case it's believing what some unprofessional old Chairman up at Scunny, desperate to hold onto his manager is saying over what their own club are saying. NC might not be the God's Gift to media and he's not perfect but to clutch onto any little straws to smack him with is stupid and some posters come across as desperate and sad!

If odds are to be believed (which they aren't) Adkins has just jumped to 1/2 again at skybet. I reckon he's saying he had an interview but has heard nothing more as we're still going through the interview process.

Makes me laugh, everyone saying we're too good for him. He's dropping down to come to us! People say "oh yeah, but we're on the way up innit blah blah blah" We're still in league one right now and nothing is guaranteed, so some arrogance needs to be dropped me thinks.

Maybe he's good at just working to a budget, the size isn't relevent.

Fickle Fans! He's dull because you have no idea who he is! Eveyone needs to give the bloke a break, I expect he's been told that Southampton are beneath him, what with him being in the Championship and we're in League 1 struggling to get points on the board. I don't think Southampton are the only team in all the leagues that want to get promoted to the Premiership, let's stop thinking we're better than everyone else and should have the best Manager in the world come and be our manager, as that's not going to happen, at least not until we're in the Premiership. IF it's Adkins, then I for one will be very happy we finally have a decent manager in charge and can start to focus on the games and let all the rubbish that's gone on recently fall behind us. There might still be a twist in the tail yet anyway.

I wouldn't be disappointed with Adkins, the more I read about him the more confident I am that he will get us out of this league. We failed to gain promotion last season and I now think Cortese's 5 year plan is out of the window (for a bit) and it has now become a 1 year plan, which is to get us out of League 1. He's looked around and though the best way to do that is employ a manager that has managed to get his team promoted from League 1 twice, so he obviously knows what he's doing in this league. And that's with a team with nowt to spend really, I expect he could be even better with a bit of money and some decent players. Top priority is to get in the Championship, Adkins is probably more qualified than others to achieve this, then we can re assess next season.

Apparently every member of staff at Saints has had to be re interviewed for their job, I think Cortese is starting from scratch and making sure everyone that is already here knows exactly what they're doing and that they're good at it. Could be a few more comings and goings if people aren't pulling their weight.

With Hammonds comments about Wilkins I fully expect there not to be an announcement before the Rochdale game. If we play very poor then I can see the manager being named early next week though. If we win and play well then I suspect it could be a little longer.

HAHA! Lambdens "mates" in the know stuff has never come true. All the players we were meant to have signed and now this. One of the biggest WUMS on the site!

We'll be alright, a monkey should be able to come in and get us promoted. Managerial position needs to be sorted quick though and I think whoever it is we should get behind them (unless it's Hart of course). Totally nonplussed about going out of the paint trophy, we have won the thing, now we need to concentrate on winning the league. Whoever comes in doesn't have silly distractions of the JPT and the Carling cup, which I think makes us look more attractive. I don't think people should be panicking and wetting themselves just yet, the season has only just started. I'm looking forward to the rest of the season.

After the Prem teams have named their 25 men squads today I reckon we'll be sniffing around for some top loans!

Getting a win here is massively important for morale, it would have taken a huge blow on Saturday after dominating the game so much but to come away with nothing, a win will make the players have a bit more confidence again and forget about the Saturday result. A loss will beat them down heavily!

Ha funnily enough I saw a Gallardo on Saturday eve about 8pm, it was at the lights about to turn left outside the Lucius pun in Ocean Village, so going to be heading towards the Itchen Bridge or go straight over and head towards the Stadium way. Didn't take in the number plate so could be anyone, just remember seeing it and saying to the wife "Nice Lamborghini there." I didn't see the number plate or who was in it so it seriously could be anyone but the story fitted in well here.

Went from So'ton central to London Waterloo last weekend for 2 quid return. Megatrain is the way forward. Going in another couple of weeks again, this time it's a 5er return though! Getting expensive.
