  1. Fair play to Wotte for being pro-active and preparing for next season despite all the uncertainty surrounding both his and the club's future. Having said that, I wouldn't expect anything less and he'd be slated pn here if he wasn't seen to be readying himself for life in League One. Dyer will end up joining Swansea on a permanent basis IMO, and I wouldn't be surprised if Rasiak joined Watford for another season-long loan as it would mean he'd be available to sign on a free at the end of the season. I'm not so sure that Liptak is what we need though. I'd rather we signed a proven and experienced defender who is a leader both on and off the pitch. Someone like Darren Purse would be ideal but unless we get taken over by some people who have a bit of money, then that would be a tad unrealistic.
  2. They said exactly the same thing yesterday! I can't wait until we know what's going on one way or another. All this takeover talk is driving me insane!
  3. If he wanted to stay and agreed to a new (much reduced) contract than yes. But realistically, neither of those things are going to happen so lets just move on and look forward.
  4. No surprises that Skacel has been released. Had he been given a proper run in the side in his favoured position of left-midfield then I think we would have seen the best of him. Still, he's gone now and it's one big earner off the wage bill so good news, especially as he doesn't want to be here. As for Smith, well I'm glad he's been released. He definitely has potential, but he doesn't ever look like reaching it. He's pacy, has quick feet, and runs at defenders, but his final ball is terrible and he's too lightweight. If he can get his head down and sign for a League Two side next season, he could go on to make it at a slightly higher level. He's still young after all. Interesting to see Hatch and Imudia released. I've been impressed by both from what I've seen during Academy and Reserve games, but obviously the club don't share that view! I'll be keeping a close eye on the progress of these two, especially Hatch. Be interesting to see how well (or bad) he does in the long run.
  5. In today's Daily Echo apparently . . . http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/4344251.What_Wilde_would_do_differently_at_Saints/ Be very interesting to hear what he has to say! Worth buying an Echo today me thinks!
  6. I think this thread has run its course. It's all getting a bit heated now and I feel it's time for us fans to just sit back and wait to see what happens. At the end of the day, what we say on here won't have an effect on whose bid gets accepted by the administrators. The way I see it, is that it's now up to the Pinnacle consortium to get their bid in, and then it's down to Fry to accept one of the two bids on the table, assuming the consortium who made the first bid don't get fed up with waiting and withdraw their offer. It's my opinion that we're likely to hear something this week, so after waiting for so long for a takeover to happen, I see no harm in waiting a few more days to hear the outcome. Enough has been said, lets just relax and wait for Fry to let us fans know what's going on.
  7. The 2008/2009 Saints squad: 1. Kelvin Davis - Would love him to stay. We'll wait and see. 2. Chris Perry - Triggered a 1-year extension after playing 20 plus games this season. Will be useful in League One. 3. Wayne Thomas - 1 year left on contract but wouldn't be surprised if he left as he's on a relatively big wage. 4. Marek Saganowski - Wants to leave, will be gone before long. Shame, as he'd be first-class in League One. 5. Jan Paul Saeijs - Wants to stay, would love him to stay, but could depend on Wotte remaining in charge. 6. Michael Svensson - Denies he's retired, but won't be surprised to hear him confirm it soon. 7. Rudi Skacel - Wants to leave, will be gone soon for free. Likely to have his contract cancelled by 'mutual consent'. 8. Bradley Wright-Phillips - Out of contract. Would be good in League One but must take big pay-cut to stay. 9. Gzregorz Rasiak - Permanent deal to Watford very likely. Won't be at Saints next season whatever happens. 10. Paul Wotton - Has 2 years remaining on his current deal. Good squad player in League One. 11. Andrew Surman - Already interest in Drew. Would love him to stay, but realistically he owes it to himself to move. 12. Lee Holmes - Too injury prone to attract interest from other clubs. Potential star player for us in League One. 13. Tommy Forecast - Handed a 5-year contract when he signed but no idea why. Yet to play for Saints and not been impressed with what I've seen in Reserve games. 14. Stern John - Out of contract. Will leave on a free. 15. Jason Euell - As above. Would be superb in League One but again, must take big pay-cut to stay at Saints. 16. Romain Gasmi - Heading back to France. Hasn't done anything during his time here. Waste of money in truth. 17. David McGoldrick - 14 goals this season for someone who's played a lot of games in midfield. There will be interest and understandably so, but hopefully we can keep hold of him. 18. Nathan Dyer - On loan at Swansea who want to sign him permanently. Would be superb in League One but unlikely we'll see him next season. A fee of around 500K would be decent. 19. Morgan Schneiderlin - Hasn't set the world alight in his first season, but he has potential and will develop into a top player. There may be interest, but I'd like to see him stay at Saints. 20. Adam Lallana - Several clubs interested, but my source is saying he would quite like to stay. That could be out of his hands though! If we can get £1m+ for him then we've done well. 21. Jamie Hatch - Yet to feature for Saints, but definitely one for the future. 22. Simon Gillett - Early candidate for next season's 'POTS' award. Will prove to be a real asset in League One. 23. Lloyd James - Interest in Lloyd, but fingers crossed we can keep him. Most improved player this season by far. 24. Oliver Lancashire - Got bags of potential, hopefully he'll show it in League One. One for the future. 25. Michael Poke - On loan at Torquay, but his Saints future is unclear. May have to wait and see what Kelvin does. 26. Jake Thomson - Same as Lancashire, has bags of potential and will be a good player for us in League One. 27. 28. Bartosz Bialkowski - Was on loan at Ipswich. Could be first-choice next season, depending on what happens with Davis. 29. 30. 31. 32. 33. Joseph Mills - Out of contract but has been offered a new 2-year deal. I really hope he signs as he has so much potential. He's likely to be our first-choice left-back next season too. 34. Jamie White - Good prospect. Did well on loan at Shrewsbury and will be a good player for us in League One. 35. Matthew Paterson - Not Paterson's biggest fan but could do well in League One. Time will tell. 36. 37. Oscar Gobern - Looks promising. Could prove to be a good player for us next season. 38. 39. Ryan Smith - Out of contract, only signed a 6-month contract in January and hasn't done enough to earn a new deal IMO. 40. Anthony Pulis - No comment . . . 41. Zoltan Liptak - Already had his loan ended early. Wotte confirmed this in recent post-match interview. 42. Kayne McLaggon - Looks very promising. Did well in the games he played in this season, just a shame he suffered a long-term injury. One-to-watch for us next season IMO. 43. Lee Molyneux - Not been impressed from what I've seen so far, but he's young and still has time to develop. Could make a good back-up for Mills, assuming he signs a new deal of course. 44. 45. Callum McNish - Only seen the lad for the Under 18's and Reserves but looks a good prospect. Confirmed departures: Zoltan Liptak - Loan terminated early. Returns to FC Ujpest in Hungary. Romain Gasmi - Wotte confirmed his loan will not be made permanent after failing to impress.
  8. Best goal: Robertson's strike against Norwich, although Lallana's goal at QPR is a close second. Great team goal! Best home game: Not many to choose from, probably Preston though. I thought we could beat the drop after that rare win. Best away game: Reading away. The overall performance was superb. Reading under-estimated us and paid the price for it.
  9. Might not be a bad thing in truth. Whilst your posts are interesting and insightful, too much speculation can be a bad thing, as we all know too well from previous 'takeovers'. Time for us fans to relax and wait to see what happens.
  10. Agreed. I think it's time for us fans to sit back and wait to see what happens over the next week or so. We've waited years for an actual takeover, so a few extra days can't hurt can they!?
  11. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/?page_id=11745 Saints have got their gallery up. Anyone else got videos and pictures of their own? Post here if you've got any!
  12. Sweepstake on the time the forum will crash on Wednesday and go into meltdown? I'm going for 14:23
  13. What's there to be confused about? From what's been said, there is already ONE offer on the table for Fry to consider. The Pinnacle and Le Tiss consortium are going through DD and playing catch-up, and are yet to make an offer. What Weston Saint is saying, I think, is that he hopes the consortium who HAVE made a bid for the club don't get frustrated by Fry hanging about to see if a better offer is forthcoming, so much so that they withdraw their bid, leaving us with nothing! If that happened, then we would be relying on the Pinnacle consortium to put an offer in otherwise we'd be well and truly screwed . . .
  14. Often see Woggy attending home games in the Itchen. Would be great if he got his job back. A decent, down-to-earth guy who loves the club.
  15. Nope, total clearout and new beginning IMO. New board, new manager, new team, new spirit, new found hope.
  16. Thank god this season is over with. Worst season in Saints' history? It's going to be an interesting next few weeks, that's for sure!
  17. Forest: Smith, Gunter, Brekin, Chambers, Lynch, McLeary, McGugan, Moussi, Cohen, Blackstock, Earnshaw. Subs: Perch, Anderson, Davies, Garner, Thornhill. Saints: Davis, James, Perry, Saeijs, Surman, Gillett, Schneiderlin, Lallana, Wright-Phillips, McGoldrick, Euell. Subs: Forecast, Lancashire, Gasmi, Gobern, McNish. Referee: Mr. K Stroud Kick-off: 13:15
  18. No complaints really. Saga has aspirations of playing for Poland in the World Cup, and if he's playing in League One then that's unlikely to happen. On top of that, we can't afford Saga's wages anyway, especially if we're planning for life in League One. He's been poorly treated by the club all season, and you can't really blame him for asking to leave. If anything, I'm surprised he hasn't asked to go sooner! Saga has been very good for us on the whole, and despite what others have said, he's a good player. Will never forget his hat-trick at Wolves! I wish him all the best in the future.
  19. Hmm, interesting . . . http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/?page_id=11735
  20. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/?page_id=11734 Sticky please mods? Should make for a good day out. A rare chance to see Le Tiss in action plus a number of other ex-Saints stars!
  21. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11688_5263240,00.html As it says on the tin. Serious respect to the guy. To make a comeback from his initial injury is a phenomenal achievement, and it's just a shame he couldn't maintain his fitness this season as we really could have done with him at times! Not surprising that he's had to call it a day though in truth. Killer is a Saint through and through and I wish him all the best. I'd like to see him remain on the coaching staff, but new owners and a new manager may prevent that from happening. EDIT - Have changed the title after Svensson denies he's retired.
  22. Oh and just to be picky, it's Jake THOMSON and not THOMPSON! Please can we get it right?
  23. As much as I'd like to see us keep hold of the likes of Saga, Euell, Surman and Lallana, realistically I just can't see it happening. Below is what I think our squad will look like in a month or so without any new signings. Goalkeepers - Poke, Forecast, Bialkowski Defenders - Hatch, James, Perry, Lancashire, Thomas, Molyneux, Mills Midfielders - Wotton, Pulis, Gillett, Gobern, Holmes, Thomson, Smith Forwards - McLaggon, McGoldrick, Paterson, White With the above in mind, it would mean that the following have left . . . Davis, Saeijs, Svensson, Liptak, Skacel, Surman, Euell, Gasmi, Schneiderlin, Saganowski, BWP and Lallana The players I have highlighted in bold are the ones that I would like us to keep, but just can't see it happening. Alot depends on who the new owners are too. If they've got a bit of money, maybe we'll be able to keep the likes of Saga and Euell, but if not, then they'll need to have some funds to invest in the first-team, otherwise we may face an uphill struggle just to maintain our status as a League One team.
  24. Look at the fight and passion on display! Unbelievable. And I forgot Pahars got a goal on his debut! Good times.
  25. Granted, he hasn't been great in recent weeks, arguably longer than that, but he's shown in the past that he's got what it takes to become a good player. Drew definitely has potential, and in the right environment he could flourish and improve dramatically. Just you wait and see!
