  1. Yeah well, that was just retarded. Even so, he apparently scored 16 goals in the old Div 1 the season before Leicester signed him.

    Flybe

Yeah, BA used to own Logan. Think Flybe have had it less than a year.
  3. Does Rasiak look 'interested' in the match?
  4. Can only assume it's Gobern, looking at that.
  5. I think you guys are splitting hairs on this one. His price willall depend on what people are willing to pay for him. People talk about potential, but let's look at a few other players who had 'potential' in the past: David Prutton - England U21 captain, we signed him for £2.5m James Beattie - Played several times, and scored, for England U21s, cost £1m. Bradley Wright Phillips - Made several Prem appearances for Man City, joined us for £750k Andrew Surman - Has contricuted much more to Saints over the last couple of years than AL. £1.2m with a few add ons. Nathan Dyer - We sold him for £400k. Michael Carrick - England U21 regular, Spuds got him for £2.75m. Tom Huddlestone - England U21 regular, signed for Spuds for £3m. To command a £5m fee you really have to be something special. Tallented though Lallana is, he just isn't that special.

    Flybe

Flybe do alright in their small corner of the market. The reason they've been so succesful is because they opperate a lot of domestic routes with little or no competition. One of their subsidaries, Logan air, opperates the only scheduled commerical flight in the world which lands on a beach (Barra).
  7. We wont get anything near £5m for him. £2m would be great for a player who failed to deliver for all but the first 10 games of the season. I'm not sure why people think he is worth £5m. One goal against West Brom last season and suddenly everyone thought he was the best thing since sliced bread.
  8. Are you sure? I haven't forgotten about Bernard and Kenton, though lord knows it's not through lack of trying. The first game I ever went to was the Villa game that season. Bernard was so badly out of possition I spent 10 minutes wondering where our third central midfielder had come from.
  9. Only a year older than Perry. I'm sure JT is only training with us. Based on his time at Bournemouth, I'm fairly sure it's not a trial.
  10. It's not a case of being in denial about L1. I honnestly think last seasons teams was midtable L1 quality at best. We've lost DMG, Surman, Skacel and possibly Size and Davis, who were some of the better players last season, and you expect us to be producing automatic promotion form. :-s You slate Saganowski, but ignore the fact that John can't score to save his life without him. I agree that John is a decent player and I hope he stays. Gillett, James and Lallana are good too, but they need to be surround by players who are as good or better if we are to be a decent L1 side. Holmes, MS and McLaggon are not the answer. Mclaggon showed glimpses of tallent. There is a reason he only made a couple of fleeting sub appearances. He is nowhere near CCC quality, which does NOT mean he will be one of the best players in L1. I also cannot believe just how gullible some people are RE: Schneiderlin. Someone starts a rumour that Arsenal, Fulham, Pompey etc. are after him and some people are convinced this is true, despite what they see on the pitch. Last season he got 0 goals, 0 assists, won 1 header and never tracked back or tackled and scarcely put any work in. Please explain to me how that makes him a good player, because I really am at a loss.
  11. BWP had 2 votes on the poll when I posted that. I guess that joke is now obsolete. I'd have Wotton over Spiderman, purely because Wotton puts his foot in a bit, whereas Spiderman brings nothing I can see to the team. Truth be told though they are both just terrible. Baffling isn't it. Having a giraffe IMO. McLaggon - Completely unproven and rarely got off the bench in a team which finished 2nd bottom of CCC. MS - Aside from his disturbing injury record, he contributed nothing to either offensive or defensive play last season. Some reliable, but forgettable passing and a decent first touch seem enough to excite a few on here. Gillett - A good player, but his passing lets him down at times. Holmes - Spent most of the season in the physio room. Good crossing but very slow. Lallana - Playing off John may suit him, but he didn't deliver last season. John - Lallana will need to work his balls off to get any kind of return out of John. That line up has injury problems and lacks pace and ideas IMO. We've basically lost the decent players from the team who got relegated last year and now you're expecting the players left to reach the playoffs, which will need automatic promotion form with our -10. Also disagree that Rasiak is lazier than John.
  12. I'm going to print this post Chez and have it framed, because for once I agree with you. (Actually twice, I don't rate Wotton either). Whilst I agree John's goals were crucial, I do think he is detrimental to overall team play. You do need a Saganowski along side him doing a bit of running, even if he never does get a sniff of the goal himself. Playing John and BWP last season was just suicide. Whether Paterson can be the Saganowski next season I'm not entirely convinced. Given choice of him and Rasiak, GR gets it for me easily. Simply because John seems so reliant on his strike partner, whereas Rasiak just needs decent service and he can create the chance by himself. P.S. Ooh look. BWP and his dad are both reading this thread.
  13. Only seen a couple of episodes of Benidorm, but this cracked me up for some reason:
  14. From what little I saw of Paterson last season, I'd have said he was barely L1 standard at the moment. Even with more experienced and able players like Rasiak and BWP along side him, John struggled to find form. In the last 2 years, John has scored 8 goals in nearly 50 games when he wasn't playing along side Saganowski. Quite what it is about Saga's game in particular that gets the best out of John I am not sure. I know beggar, choosers etc. but the partnership you've mentioned really doesn't fill me with joy.
  15. I think John is just keeping his powder dry until a better offer comes in personally. I'd be happy for him to stay on reduced wages, but if it was a choice of keeping 1 of our current strikers, he'd be behind Rasiak on my wish list. I am a bit alarmed as to how he's gone from scoring 19 at Saints 2 years ago, to 2 goals at City last season. He always needed Saganowski to get a decent scoring return out of him, I can't see them both staying.
  16. No, please let's...
  17. I was refering to eating as in one step further up the food chain than Lowe, but I like your thinking.
  18. Agreed. Both have the potential not to be sh*te one day.
  19. I am currently p*ssed of at Pinnacle for apparently wasting our time when they either didn't have the required funds, or just weren't serious about a takeover. If a takeover did go through, then clearly they are serious and well funded, so the 'hitch' a few days ago would be forgiven.
  20. Wish? I wish we'd get taken over by a group of billionaire Swedish bikini models who eat hockey players.
  21. Okay then Schneiderlin - Offers the team nothing defensively or offensively, but is actually brilliant. Holmes - Made a couple of decent crosses in the first month of the season before setting up shop in the physio room.
  22. Last season Tuesday's were public viewing, provided there wasn't a match that evening. When I went there were only about 20 players training, but luckily they were the senior players, some of whom seemed genuinely pleased to see us.
  23. Only 10? When I try and count decent players we signed last season, I get JPS, Perry then I'm stuck. Wotton - Sh*te Schneiderlin - Sh*te Robertson - Sh*te Pekhart - Sh*te Smith - Sh*te Molyneux - Sh*te Holmes - Injured Svensson - Injured
  24. My first ever game was THAT match against Villa in 2005. Nobby Solano came on and turned the game around. Also Pires when we lost 6-1 at Highbury, bout 2 weeks before the Cup final.
  25. Takes a while to get to Cardiff on the M3. For me, it would have to be those 3 goals in 6 minutes against Brum 3 years ago. They were top of the table at the time and were on top of the match until that point. I went nuts when the third went in. Just couldn't believe it.
