  1. Can't see it happening, but I'd take him over Wotte any day of the week.
  2. I heard they grew some cracking begonias.
  3. No, but there were a few players who looked all at sea last season.
  4. I am more annoyed by people who don't indicate at all, then nearly run me over because I'm crossing the road they are about to turn onto at 90mph.
  5. An almost perfect description of Morgan Schneiderlin, the difference being Sparv didn't cost a large, highly debated amount of cash. FWIW, I never saw Sparv play, but always heard decent things about him. Out of all the players in the youth team, he would have been one of the ones I thought would make it into the first team.
  6. That was almost as funny as the Milan Mandaric statue. The actual story was that we'd been given a £136m contract to build an offshore oil rig in the South China Sea. That was also officially announce on the LSE, as opposed to just tabloid rumour.
  7. How did that come about?
  8. For the League it would read DMG - 11 goals* in 121 efforts** - 11 shots per goal Rasiak - 8 goals in 42 efforts - 5.1 shots per goal *The official number is 12, but that includes Lallana's goal against Derby for some reason **Shots on target, off target and headers
  9. I think the stats actually give a pretty good representation of both players styles of play. Rasiak - Doesn't get as many chances because he is less mobile. He is no more accurate, target wise, than DMG. However he is much better at beating the keeper when he does hit the target. DMG - Gets a fair few chances (when he puts the effort in) and gets a reasonable number on target. However because many of them are speculative efforts from the edge of the area, they are often saved by the 'keeper or blocked by the defence. I definitely feel there is room for both in our side.
  10. That's in all competitions and includes penalties. Feel free to mess around and see what revalations you can come up with.
  11. http://www.football-league.co.uk/page/Shooting/0,,10794~200810280~7,00.html To save you the bother, and because I'm massively bored... Conversion rate Rasiak - 10 goals in 45 efforts - 4.5 shots per goal Saga - 6 goals in 35 efforts - 5.8 shots per goal BWP - 6 goals in 55 efforts - 9.2 shots per goal DMG - 13 goals in 127 efforts - 9.8 shots per goal Surman - 7 goal in 69 efforts - 9.9 shots per goal Euell - 2 goals in 39 efforts - 19.5 shots per goal Lallana - 3 goals in 76 efforts - 25.3 shots per goal Most shots without scoring - Simon Gillett - 26 Most accurate Matthew Patterson - 6/7 on target - 85% Jack Cork - 5/7 on target - 71% Jan Paul Saeijs - 9/13 on target - 69% Rudi Skacel - 18/27 on target - 66% Simon Gillett - 16/25 on target - 64% Least Accurate Morgan Schneiderlin - 4/16 on target - 25% Jason Euell - 13/37 on target - 35% Stern John - 4/14 on target - 40% Jordan Robertson - 5/12 on target - 42% Paul Wotton - 6/14 on target - 43%
  12. Aaaaagh. Pleas let's not go down the comparing DMG to Rasiak alley. They're like chalk and cheese, two completely different players. I'm not about to get into a debate about who we should keep, who is worth more etc. because it will jsut go round in circle. MLG - DMG did well go get into so many shooting situations last season, regardless of what possition he was playing. However a shot is a shot, and his conversion rate was poor. He needs to improve that is he is to become a decent striker. Nick - Yes DMG is younger and will likely get better whilst Rasiak gets worse. However Rasiak is still an exceptionally good player at this level. He may get less mobile, but he will still be an excellent poacher for 5 maybe 10 years. My point wasn't that Rasiak was better, just that he could have scored many goals in our side last season. You questioned whether he could get 20, I was just pointing out that he could. FWIW I think they could form a decent partnership next season. In Rasiak, Saga, DMG and Lallana we have 4 decent strikers already, but we NEED to play 4-4-2 with a couple of decent wingers providing service. Those 4 players, if they stay MUST play as out and out strikers not winger-come-supporting striker in the hole types who just drift around in no-man's land not doing anything.
  13. Stop canvassing my posts.
  14. Ok, I'll open another can of stats on your ass. (metaphorically) DMG - 127 shots - 13 goals Rasiak - 45 shots - 10 goals As someone else has pointed out, Rasiak was used as a big lump in a mainly long ball game at Watford. His own chances would have been somewhat limited. If he'd been in our side with that conversion ratio, he'd theoretically have scored 28 goals from 127 efforts.
  15. 10 in 25 games (many as a sub) If he had played in 50, like DMG, then in theory...
  16. Hope this is true, BWP is gash. People are saying there is no way on Earth we can afford Rasiak's wages, but getting rid of this waste of space would go 2/3 of the way there. I don't think he would score more in L1 than he has in the CCC. Afterall, the offside rule still applies and on even crapper pitches he is more liable to falling over.
  17. I'm a bit confused by these Saga and Rasiak stories which keep appearing on the OS. I'm trying to figure out the club's motivation for this and can't come up with anything other than they are reporting the news. I guess after last summer's abysmal treatment of the senior players, I was expecting headlines like, "Euell cannot be arsed", "Wright-Phillips born in Pompey", and "Saga cruel to baby animals" to try and discredit them. It would be great if we got taken over by someone with the collateral to keep these guys. I also think we could comfortably afford them without much investment, if we tell Euell and BWP to take a hike and Davis leaves/takes a wage cut.
  18. All Pompey's players have been sold. HTH
  19. Apparently we are going to sign Rudi Skacel. and Paul Wotton is selling Uranium to North Korea. I know several other rumours, but these are the only ones I can guarantee to be 100% true.
  20. Love the first one. Indifferent to the second. I think that shade of yellow looks a bit dull and it looks very similar to the kit we got relegated without ever winning a game in. Third one looks too much like this years training kit for me. Personally I think a dark green with black trim kit would look awesome.
  21. You rank Wotton that highly?
  22. He was a solid passer, but nothing to exciting. The problem would be that a suitable midfield partner would have to be a creative man mountain, and we don't have too many players who are either, let alone both. I had the same gripe to an extent with Safri.
  23. Hence the striking and the weird.
  24. Arizona

    Marseille

Off there on business next week and it looks like I'm going to have one day off. Can anyone recommend something decent to do or where the best beach is?
  25. I know an Asian guy who frequents tanning sallons. Generally I think that women/men who use sunbeds are vain and slutty/fruity, but this just struck me as weird.
