I can cope with Cope (sorry, couldn't resists) but not Case. He was just so dull and his inability to pronounce the players names got on my tits after a while.

Pearson was appointed at Saints to keep us up with very limited resources. He succeeded. Pearson was appointed at Leicester to get them promoted from League one. He achieved this by winning the League convincingly within one year. Pearson has achieved everything that was asked of him at both Saints and Leicester. If you can't give him credit for that, you are deluded IMHO. If League 1 is as easy as you say it is, then we can expect to finish on at least 86 points next season and be comfortably in the playoffs, just like we did when we were relegated from the Prem.

I've been around Bodrum a couple of times in a few all inclusive resorts. Seemed pretty nice. Can't remember any more details than that I'm afraid.

I don't know enough about Cowen's involvement in the club to comment on that. I'm really no expert on boardroom affairs, just like all the ITKs on here. All I'll say is I wouldn't mind having Crouch back as he puts the clubs best interests first in my eyes. I don't want Lowe, Wilde or anyone else who doesn't, back at the club.
-
I know that is said very much tongue in cheek but... Only on this board are Lowe and Crouch two seperate sides. In the boardroom, it's just a case of which men are best for the job. Putting someone from 'Lowes side' of the argument is balancing things in the same way the Japanese attempted to 'balance' WW2 with Pearl Harbor. FWIW I wouldn't mind having Leon Crouch on board. On the plus side he is a Saints fan and has always acted with the clubs best interests at heart, even if things didn't pan out the way we would have wanted. On the negative side, it would really p*ss of 19C and I'm sure nobody wants that to happen.

By that yardstick, Jenson Button is taking everyone to school.

So what about Burley who took over Saints in midtable, spent £10m, scraped into the playoffs, lost, then left again when we were midtable with a massive wage bill? Or Man City, who had silly money to spend on players like Jo, Bridge, Given, SWP and Robinho, but only finished 10th? Or Chelsea who spent over £100m in their first season but only finished second? Leicester won L1 with 96 points and 9 points clear of MKD in 3rd. If that's the minimum we should have expected, what would be an "average" season? Winning every game? Getting promoted and solving world poverty? I'm not sure what your full name is, but with standards like that I'll bet it starts with "Sergeant Major" To win any League takes real managerial tallent, especially given it was his first season in the job. Regardless of the quality of the squad, which the manager takes some credit for himself for assembling. I also cannot believe you are complaining about the quality of football we played under Pearson. He took over about an hour before his first game, had no time or money to assemble a squad and managed to turn our fortunes around with a couple of loan signings. It seems getting the squad fit and motivated and keeping us up wasn't good enough for some people, who would only have been satisfied if we stayed up playing like Brazil and got into the playoffs.

I think Paul Stoddardt still owns the naming rights to 'Minardi'. Could be a nice little reunion next season.

It's just Litespeed rebadge, but it would be good to see a Lotus on the grid again. Shame they can't get sponosored by Johnny Player Special. Ponty, I'd go for the latter obviously, but it would be great to reach a compromise. F1 just wouldn't be F1 without the large amounts of cash spent on cutting edge technology. The trouble with F1 in recent years was that everyone had to spend large amounts of money to stay on the grid, but there were two or three teams which had to be last every year. For those teams, like Honda, Jaguar, Arrows, Jordan etc. it just wasn't financially viable spending hundreds of millions bringing up the rear.

I will sleep easy knowing that.

For a moment there, someone thought I was actually funny. Oh well... Anyway, nah, I want Button to be WDC, but Red Bull is definitely my favourite team. Has been since the days of Jaguar in the first half of the decade. Met Sebastian Bourdais in the Bull Shop at Spa last year. Managed to force my way through the crowd and get a photo with him, signed photo (which I gave to mini-Baj) and got him to sign the Red Bull flag I'd just bought. Out of the four RBR/STR drivers, he'd be my last choice for an autograph, but better than nothing.

I am pretty sure schumi wouldn't have won in '94 or '95 if it weren't for Senna's death. In '94 the shock was probably just too much for Damon to win the title. It took him half the season to adapt to the role of team leader, by which time he had Schumacher's measure. Schumacher only won that title by one point, and even then only did it by cheating. The '95 Williams was quick, but very unreliable and the media pressure got to Hill. The Benneton may not have been the fastest car, but it was pretty decent. Second fastest to the Williams and more reliable. If a very average Johnny Herbert managed to win two races, it can't have been a bad car. Overall I'd rate Jenson as good a driver as Schumacher. I know that sounds silly with MS being a 7 time world Champion and Button just being a 7 time race winner, but I think Schumacher just had a better car for longer. At various times suring Schumacher's career he was easily matched in tallent by Senna, Hill, Hakkinen, Coulthard, Montoya, Raikkonen or Alonso. Schumacher just always seemed to have the best combination of Ferrari, Bridgestone and a passive team-mate in Rubinho, whilst the McLaren's, Williams and Michellins always seemed to have one problem or another.

You pr*ck Landrew.

They already did. Adrian: 'People keep coming up to me and saying, "hey you're that bloke off the telly, that Ray Mears bloke". I wonder if Ray Mears gets people running up to him and saying, "hey you're Adrian Chiles"' Paul Merton: 'No, they probably run up to him and say, "Hi you're that Ray Mears bloke."'

The alternative version being that female skates apparently have very similar genitals to humans (and probably smell similar too). Lonely sailors, back in the day, would apparently catch skates and engage in 'relations' with them. Whether this is true or not, and whether it is still common practice I can't say.

He would be a superb guest. Aside from an political persuasions people on here may have, Blair was an excellent public speaker and I'm sure the banter between him and Ian Hislop would be brilliant. They've had William Hague on there before, so it wouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility.

We're looking for a new host on a topical news quiz, not a nutter who can't string a coherent sentence together, but you happen to fancy. IMO the host should be someone who is witty and can deliver dead-pan humour naturally from the auto-que, without looking as uncomfortable as that bint did last night. My first choice would be to have Angus back, but I'd be quite happy with Armstrong, Dee, Jimmy Carr or Clive Anderson. All intelligent and capable of satirising (is that a word?) a serious news story. Brand and Fielding would just be like, "uuhhh... so who's this Brown bloke?" all the time. It would get old very quickly. It would be good to have Blessed in maybe once a series as a guest, just for a laugh. Much the same as Boris used to before he got all mayorish (pretty sure that's not a word either).

£1m for DMG - Why do people think it's such a bad deal?
Arizona replied to Arizona's topic in The Saints
Okay, you've got to be winding me up now. Read post 81 again. -
Button Webber Vettel That's got to be pretty much my perfect podium.

How many players do we need t mount a promotion push?
Arizona replied to CLOTH EARS's topic in The Saints
Agree. Euell is a donkey and BWP is just clueless. It astonishes me sometimes that people rate Euell, then slate Saga for not scoring. DMG is the only one of our current strikers I'd keep and he needs a couple of striker partners who are big and/or quick to make things work. -

Can't honnestly say I've seen anything of Cox or Lambert, other than the odd clip on The Championship on Sunday mornings. I think the main reason they are being linked with much larger fees is the fact that they scored more than double the goals McG managed last season. I know being in L1 it's easier to score, but I don't think that accounts for the extra 18 goals. -

I didn't mean litterally £0. But £1.3m really is nothing when you're talking about getting promotion to the Prem. -
Wow, what a start. Barrichello shocker, Button passes Vettel, Ferraris, Webber, Trulli and Rosberg all over each other.
