  1. I think in the case of N. Korea, I'd rather the US than nobody. We can't, IMO, let N. Korea become the elephant in the room. Just ignoring their arms race, Neville Chamberlain style, will lead to problems later on when an unchecked North Korea has a massive army and a collection of nuclear balistic missiles. Obviously North Korea abandoning its nuclear programme would be the idea scenario, but I just don't see that happening with KJI in charge.
  2. ... well not anymore. Anyway, if you think the Afghans and Iraqis have it bad, that wont even to come close to the kind of treatment anyone invaded by North Korea could expect. Most of the population lives in poverty whilst their dictator spends the countries cash on arms, f**k knows what Kim Jong Il's got in store for his enemies. Without meaning to sound insensitive, I wager North Korean occupation would make a few thousand Iraqis killed by stray mortars look like a picnic.
  3. There's a bit more too it than, "mummy, why does he get the cool toys and I don't." The main point being that the US, UK, France, India etc. aren't unstable dictatorships run by a war mongering nutcase. They are also only used as a deterent and none have been detonated in anger since Nagasaki. I think Iran and North Korea have slightly more adventurous ideas for their nuclear programmes. It is ironic that the deadliest weapons ever made have probably saved millions of lives. The US bombing of Japan probably saved hundreds of thousands of US soldiers, not to mention the Japs and their citizens. They are also largely responsible for keeping the cold war cold. No matter how strong one side thought it's conventional weapons were in comparison to the enemy, they never dared fire them because of the nuclear deterant. The closest we came was the Cuban Missile crisis, and even then both sides were desperate for a reason to back down without losing face. I cannot say whether NK will go South. I do not think they'd attempt it without a fully functioning nuclear weapon, if and when they get one. If they invaded South Korea without nuclear weapons, the US, UK and China would come down on them like a tonne of bricks. This is one of the reasons they need to be stopped from developing WMDs.
  4. Quite obviously both.
  5. That's pretty much exactly my take on the situation. My concern is that we're going to end up with pretty much exactly the same team as last season (minus Saga and Skacel) and we will be stuck with pretty much the same problems. I.e. lack of pace, creativity, bite and goals in midfield.
  6. A really sh*t 1-0 to Man Utd.
  7. It would ruin the pitch. Have you seen how bad pitchs like Wigan get after one game of rugby? I know we aren't that heavy on the pitch, put a squad of players running around on the same piece of grass 6 days a week for a year is going to completely wreck it.
  8. No worries. I'm off to bed. You kids play nice.
  9. Let's try and keep it civilised. We have an ignore function you know.

That Latvian belly dancer should have gone through...
  11. My mistake. Why the f**k did I write that.
  12. I'm not overly pleased to be keeping either of them. BWP is in his mid 20s and still hasn't figured out the offside rule yet. Euell is a bit of a carthorse and for all the praise of his experience and attitude last season, he lumbered round the pitch and managed 2 goals, both at Portman Road. Oh and Jermaine Beckford has just been transfer listed by Leeds!! Nobody has mentioned him yet!!! HCDAJFU!!!
  13. Newcastle just seem to have a lot more than most. I mean 20,000 people skipping work/school to see Owen sign. He wasn't even that special and had been average by his previous standards for a couple of years. Overall though I am laughing at the club more than the fans. I can't believe a club with a 50,000 odd seater stadium, the fan base to do it and a wealthy asugar daddy could get it that spectacularly wrong. I'm please teams like Stoke stayed up, even if they don't play pretty football.
  14. I remember seeing a few others which looked real a while ago. By real I mean the photos weren't the first pic which came up on Google and you really would have to be a special case to want to impersonate one of them. Baseya, Nile Ranger, Lancashire are three I can remember. There is also a fake Prutton, Skacel, Saganowski, L. Crouch and several Rupert Lowes on there.
  15. The media did show me 20,000 fans bunking off work/school to go and see Michael Owen when he signed. And a large number of them calling for Big Sam's head after only a few months in charge.
  16. Would ruin the promotion hunt IMO. If it was only uno, dos and tres who went up, there'd be no insentive for the teams in midtable during the last say 15 games of the season. With the play-offs, there can be upwards of 10 teams chasing promotion going into the last 4 or 5 games. Will be rooting for the Clarets next season, if only because I'm half Burnish, half Scummer.
  17. Thought the figure was nearer £8m? Would have been worth it IMO. Bit of an urban legend really I think. Rumour has it we agree a fee of around £3.5m a year before he joined Milan, but the deal fell through because we couldn't get a work permit. That's the story I heard, probably about as reliable as most of the ITKs on here.
  18. I think Kaka has got to be top of the tree on this one. Think Lowe also refused to fork out £5m Rosicky. And Jason St Juste. Have he and Simon Clifford conquered the world yet?
  19. I feed off the algae on the dry-wall.
  20. Well KK left at the start of the season, so between them they've gotten it wrong somewhere. I think there are managers who could have saved Newcastle, but Shearer had no experience at all and was clearly the wrong appointment IMO. He had absolutely no effect at all on the creativity, defending and motivation of the squad. Redknapp had an almost instant impact at Spuds, likewise Big Sam at Blackburn. To a lesser extent Hart at Pompey, Hiddink at Chelski and even Pearson for us have turned teams around pretty quickly, without spening cash.
  21. And appointing Kinnear. And Shearer.
  22. I think, 'not a complete fruitcake from the Dutch equivalent of Bognor Regis FC,' would be on my list of managerial criteria.
  23. Or how about appointing a manager, instead of another retarded experiment?
  24. Not that black and white IMO. I personally have only been to about 20 games over the last 2 years, but I've spent most of that time living in Scottland, Germany, The Netherlands and Phoenix. DOes that make me a glory boy? I think there a lot of factors to put in place, including geography, wealth and boardroom politics.
  25. Don't encourage him.
