  1. Probably a little of both and... He is a distinctly average CCC striker, who despite playing in practically every League game this season, only managed 10 goals, of which 2 were penalties. I think £500k is about right.
  2. Lancashire hasn't looked anywhere near ready for the football League in the games I've seen him in. I'm not writing him off just yet, but I wouldn't have him in the side next season, CB, RB or otherwise. HCDAJFU - An experienced right back (Not Paul Telfer) so we can play James in midfield.
  3. Much as I like Tessem, if he came back it would just ruin his reputation. Even if he is 'fit' I doubt he would be in good enough condition for even League 1 football. Same with Telfer really. Tessem and Telfer as coachs I would love to see. Good work ethic and both gave 100% whenever they played.
  4. You lost all credit about here.
  5. Maybe we had some facility to borrow more cash against the stadium to keep Barclays happy for another few months. I am just speculating here, I don't have a mortgage and have no idea how SMS's is structured. I seem to remember someone saying the reduction in debt, about £750k a year, was pretty much doubled by the interest, meaning we pay just over £1.5m a year. Anyone want to clarify/ridicule/claim responsibility for that statement?
  6. I'm not saying he can't be good in the future, just that he is absolutely the worst signing we could have made this season. Just when we'd stripped the squad of almost all experienced players and were short on cash, we spend money (I don't care how much is up front, in instalments, caps for France etc) on a teenager with no experience of the English game. I don't care how good he MIGHT be in the future. We needed good players capable of doing a job NOW to stay in the League. It seems some on here are content with being relegated to L1, providing as long as we have the next Fabregas, Robben and Torres and World Class Ryan Smith in our squad. I am not trying to compare MS to Dryden, Draper, Delgado et. al. in terms of ability. However he was absolutely the last signing we needed right now and has been terrible this season.
  7. Don't get me wrong, I really don't rate Wotton, but I'd have him in the side ahead of Schneiderlin, simply because he gets stuck in. Yes Morgan can pass better, but going by the assists, he has never made an important pass. He receives the ball, plays the obvious pass and we're no nearer to scoring than we were before. Games just seem to pass him by, like he's not even there. You have to watch carefully to notice he's on the pitch at all.
  8. Want Burnley to get promoted as half my family is from there. I had a 50:50 choice of supporting either Saints or Burnley as a child and got stuck with this lot.
  9. Okay, I've cleaned up the mess you kids made with the quoting. If I have to pull this car over, you'll be walking home! Anyway, I've added all the players who've had any notable playing time in the first team. I'll add the other players as and when something interesting happens to them.
  10. That's far enough off track for one evening.
  11. Okay guys, check out the new sticky and let me know what you think.
  12. Had a request for a thread overviewing all the ins and out, and potential ins and outs this summer. If you want something to be added or altered on this thread, I am open to suggesions. Also if you can add any definite details to any of the players/transfers, which I have missed out, let me know. 13. Depends where you were sat I guess. I didn't here too much coming from the left hand side, but there was plenty coming from the right.
  14. I went for the atmosphere today, couldn't really give a hoot about the result. "Ooooooooooooooooooh Marian!!!!"
  15. Nobody is saying we paid that up front, but is our administration not sue to the fact that we bunked on some of the 'small instalments' for players like DMG, Lallana, Hatch etc, combined with the fact that we have no cash?
  16. Is the Pope Jewish...
  17. As I said, £1.2m however it is made up. Even less than half of that is up front, when we're talking about £500k to stop SFC being wiped off the face of the Earth, it was the wrong decision. We're splitting hairs here anyway. I don't care if 99p was paid up front and we owe the rest when he reaches 100 caps for France and gets a World Cup Golden Boot. Spening money on kids, when we had a squad full of better adapted kids (i.e. ones who grew up watching and playing English football and have spent the last 3 years sat at the back of block 6 for every home game) was wrong. If I'd put that in the poll, it would be a bit of a fore-gone conclusion. ;-) Wanted you lot to rack your brains a bit first.
  18. I'm not writing him off. Just pointing out that it was an appaling decision to sign him. We couldn't afford him and he was highly unlikely to deliver in his first season in the CCC. Admittedly no one knew he would be this bad, but it was still a poor decision.
  19. You'd have taken a French teenager over cold hard cash? :-s It's not like Wenger picks players from obscurity and they're the first name on the team sheet straight away. Many of the players he picks need years to get into the side, even class acts like Theo. Many of them never make it. What about Francis Jeffers, Aliadiere and all the Arsenal youth players born in England? We have been desperately short of 2 things this season. Cash and experience. Signing Schneiderlin was never going to solve either.
  20. My argument isn't that he is the worst player that we've spent the most money on. More the fact that his transfer fee, with regards to our current financial situation is absolutely massive. £2m isn't going to send a Prem team into administration, but £1.2m (or the £600k upfront, or whatever it works out as) may well have done the trick here.
  21. IF that is true then I still would worry about it. Imagine the Arsenal chariman coming up to you and said, "what would you prefer, the cash we owed you for the Walcott deal, or this unproven French teenager?"
  22. That and the fact that those shirts will never be used again and are as such completely worthless to both players and club. Was interesting to see Killer hoofing a few of the training balls into the crowd before kick-off. They could have been used again.
  23. My similarly titled thread vanished pretty quickly into obscurity. Think I was a bit premature... anyway, here is my posts again FWIW: "Well done to all those that went. It was a pretty good turn out and atmosphere considering it's a 3 hour drive from Southampton for a relegated team with nothing to play for. Some good chants. We did our best to make Rupert feel welcome and there was a good mix of songs. Every time Forest scored, we had a disco in the away end. Weird to see all 4 sides of a ground singing and dancing after a goal goes in. Was also good to here Marian Pahars' chant get thrown in randomly a couple of times. Song of the day: "Stand Up if you've got swine flu!" Saints looked the better side throughout most of the game, but it just seemed to fall apart at the end really. Story of our season I guess. Our goal was pretty well taken by BWP, who looked pretty lively. I honnestly didn't see any of their first as I was looking at the home fans at the time. Their second resulted, surprisingly enough, from poor marking at a set piece. By the time the third went in it was pretty much 3 Forest players against Kelvin as the rest of our lot were halfway down the tunnel. Size, James, DMG and BWP looked like our best players for me. Size and DMG in particular looked well up for it."
