Apparently a Middle Eastern consortium is still involved...

He's commentanting on tonights match for 5Live.

Our problems have, IMO, stemmed from failing to win at home, and a large part of that is failing to score. Only Donny have scored less at home than Saints this season. The main culprit has been the midfield as a unit. They don't offer enough protection to the defence and they are absolutely hopeless going forward. Yes Surman has 7 goals and a few assists, but other than that you're looking at an average of about 1 goal and 1 assist each for the likes of Lallana, Schneiderlin, Holmes, Wotton, Gillett and Smith. Overall I was happy with the back 4 and Davis as individuals. I'd rather have seen Skacel and James in midfield, but I think they did a good enough job at fullback. Your first statement is just ridiculous. Bale, our entire left flank? So what, you're just ignoring the contribution Skacel made now? The bit in bold is mind bendingly stupid. I always thought you were one of the more intelligent posters, even if I didn't agree with some of your view, but that statement just takes the ****. What your basically saying is setting up goals from set pieces and crosses doesn't really count. What f**king planet are you on? How would you like a winger to set up a goal? Collect the ball in his own penalty area, run the entire perimeter of the pitch, then hit a 90 yard long ball up the pitch for Rasiak to tap in? And what about the fact that nobody except him and Bale were apparently capable of setting up these 'goals which don't count because they're from crosses and set pieces'? RE: Lallana, yes he may well be an exciting prospect for the future, but people don't seem to get that's not what we need. We need players who are good RIGHT NOW. We need decent, experienced pros who can get us out of this League. I get the impression a lot of people would be happy sliding out the football League completely, as long as we've got a bunch of 20 year olds who will be the next Torres, Robben, Gerrard and Puyol in 5 years time. I don't WANT Lallana to leave, but if we get a decent cash offer, I'd take it. I do not know who these mystery experience pros are. All I'll say is whoever heard of Jan-Paul Saeijs or Marian Pahars, before they came here? I'll leave it to the proffesional scouts to determine who really CDAJFU.

I think that's very unfair on the people of Stafford. And yes, Gratham has given the world Newton, Thatcher and myself. Which means we invented gravity.

I didn't realise you guys were from round my neck of the woods. Yes there are worse places to be than Lincoln, with some worse people. It's just full of the afforementioned cretins of society, even if the crime there isn't too bad. I was born in Grantham, which is as near as I want to get to Boston thanks. If you put the entire population of Pompey and Boston together, you'd have 1 full set of teeth and 2 sets of DNA. Used to live in Cherry Willingham.

I can understand people challenging his commitment and whether he is worth his wages. It's the bit about being good on paper and Champ manager and questioning whether he can do it in "real life" when we've all seen he can, and he has.

To have a Champions League final taken in injury time with a goal from their first shot of the game must have been heartbreaking for the Chelsea fans and players. Especially after John Terry's penalty miss in last years final and going on to lose the shootout.
-
I think we have a differing oppinion on what "like Skacel" implies, so I'll decline to comment. How about an decent, experience pro, with no comparison to Skacel what-so-ever? I'd have this mystery bloke over Lallana, who has flattered to deceive and done bugger all since September. People accuse Skacel of living off past glories and saying people only rate him because of 1 decent year. Well Lallana has stuck about 5 decent GAMEs together between his goal at West Brom and September, suddenly we shouldn't be taking less than £5m for him. As far as I'm concerned, since those games he's been no different to Hammill last season. I'm not writing him off, but if someone came in with a bid anything over £1m, I'd bit their hand off.

Bit of an odd statement, given how Rasiak is the one player you can categorically say has performed for us. When Burley dropped him in New Year 2007, I think he was the CCC's top scorer over the last 3 years.
-
I think a lot of people don't give Rasiak the credit he deserves at times. I've always thought his ball control was excellent and he is deceptively quick. Sure he is slow in a 100 yard race, but Rasiak is the best player I've seen in CCC at getting a yard of space at exactly the right time, control a ball and getting a shot on target. All in the space of about 2s. A lot of people write him off as a tip-in merchant, but overlook the fact that DMG, Euell, Saganowski, BWP and even the likes of Jones in the past, are unable to score such tap-ins.

Make sure you wash it, before you switch switch off the radio.

A big sign saying, "welcome to Lincoln" is a giveaway for me. The young people are either chavs, emos, nerds, Spice Boys or long hair beardy art student types who've been doing various art courses at college and uni for about 10 years because there is f**k all to do with an art degree. The middle aged people are generally fat, skinhead, tatooed unemployed larks and the elderly are well, old. And as I found out today when I broke down, 50% of drivers are retarded and have no idea what hazard lights are. Rant over.

Apparently there is a large yacht in Southampton. Paul Allen has a large yacht. Watch this space...

Burley left, then we played Bury in the cup for D&Gs first game in charge. Rasiak's pen was saved, but he knocked in the 9th rebound. The following Tuesday we played Norwich in the League, outclassed them and were undone by a sucker punch, 0-1. Rasiak and Skacel were by far the best players and were loaned out a couple of days later. It was the one moment I have been most p*ssed off as a Saints fan. Not the saddest, but the most p*ssed off.
-
I said if we get someone with a bit of money. Anyway, Rasiak's wages are only the same of Robertson, Pekhart, Gasmi, Pulis, Schneiderlin, Holmes, Forecast and Molyneux combined. If it were a choice between those 2 options, the pole gets it every time. Yes. It was funny, tragic and somewhat insulting that the club thought we were that stupid. £500 a week for a 20 goal a season striker? Which are, IYO, the more important roles in the team which would command higher wages? Steve Howard and Dean Windass have done alright in recent seasons. What makes you think he wouldn't score? L1 isn't a step up from CCC and the work rate has never hindered him in the past.
-
Lets say hypothetically that we find a buyer with a reasonable amount of cash and Watford don't take up their option on GR. Would you try and convince him to stay next season? I would. I know his wages are high, but without high wages for Skacel, Saga, Davis, Euell, John or BWP to fork out, I think Rasiak could be affordable. I would. He'd get the goals we need next season. Work rate isn't his forte, but as far as I'm aware, the 2 decisions for him to leave weren't at his request.
-
One more thing. The article saying that everyone apart from Skacel and Saga is 100% comitted to the cause next season is pure bull. Where was that comitment at Sheff Weds, in the crunch game against Charlton or in the first 15 minutes against Wolves? They all talk big, but when it comes to actually doing something, they will either be off or stick around and be just as hopeless next season. We need a big clear out. Out of the current lot I'd keep Davis, Size, Perry, James and Gillett. Surman and Lallana have looked waaay off the boil and if selling them means we'd be able to bring in some decent experienced pros I'd be all for it.
-
Don't get the aminmosity towards Skacel at all. If people could just get over the preconceptions they had of Skacel as some kind of Messiah before he joined, they'd actually realise he wasn't a bad player. He was, like it or not, a key player in our playoff season. He linked well with Bale, covering when he went forward, and between them they probably got more assist than the whole squad has managed this year. 4 goals is also a respectable enough tally for a midfielder. Only Surman and Viafara have managed to match that from midfield since Anders Svensson left. I can't think of another midfielder who has scored more than 4 in a season since a certain Mr Le Tissier. Based on that, I'd say he has contributed easily as much, in many cases more, to Saints cause as Viafara, Safri, Belmadi, Kosowski, Wise, McQ, McCann, Hammill, Euell, Pele or Guthrie. All of them would have been on similar wages, yet rarely get slagged off on here. We shipped him out in January 2008 to save money, we did the same in Summer 2008. We've been playing him at left back for 2 years even though it's blatently not his best possition. 1 year ago he was one of only 4 CCC players to get a ticket to Austria/Switz, we've been on course to Division 3 since day one and now everyone is on their high horse because he wants to leave. Good luck and thanks Rudi. I hope you get a move to a decent side and prove some of our muppets wrong in midfield. As for Ryan Smith... I guess with Lee Robben and Bradley Wright-Torres able to play on the left wing, we've got enough "world class" players.
-
He's played every game because he's been injury free. His fitness in the first half of the season particularly, was shocking. He is marginally taller than average. Can't remember too many decent headers from him this season. I'm young and English. He has 13 goals, 11 in the League and only 9 of them from open play. Playing practically every minute of every game and scoring once a month isn't impressive. £1m will buy you Andrew Davies, BWP or John Viafara from Premiership clubs. The first two were both young, a had some Prem experience and more potential. I'd like you to be right, but I just don't see it.
-
I hope you're kidding. He must be getting towards 40 these days surely.
-
Absolutely, and if we finish above Leeds next season I'll eat a small, 3 door hatch back. And by small 3 door hatch back, I mean Jaffa Cake. Disagree about BO. Yes Beatts went on that scoring run when playing along side Brett, but he also got a few playing along side Pahars, Phillips and Tessem at various times. Add to that Fuller and Jones were both pants when paired with him in 2005. I know we are going to be limited next season, but we need players with more attributes than just running like a bad vindaloo. He's not exactly young either, so we may not even get that out of him.
-
Depending on which entity ends up owning this sorry mess next season, I doubt we will be signing many first team regulars. I repeat; there are some far worse players than Prutts on their way in.
-
Prutton I would take. I know people didn't rate him in the past, but we aren't in the Prem now people. What I wouldn't have given for someone with half his bottle in the side this year. We signed Wotton, Robertson, Molyneux in the CCC. Imagine the gash we're going to be signing in L1. There are far worse players on their way in than Prutts I tell yee!!
