How many players should we off load now or in the summer?
Arizona replied to doddisalegend's topic in The Saints
Pulis, Molyneux, Forecast, Perry, Wotton and probably Gillett and Lancashire. Semi is only on a sixth month contract, so it depends whether he can impress. -
Can't really say I've seen enough of Barnard to comment yet. He was very average with poor service on Saturday, that's about all I can say. His scoring record for Southend was pretty impressive though, so hopefully he will be able to prove it when we get a better midfield behind him.

Good luck to him. Had a lot of lean spells, but in between there were some great times and fantastic goals. We have him and Guthrie to thank for kick-starting our playoff campaign three years ago. For all the problem we've had, you can't really say he's lacked effort. Thankyou Saga for our biggest League win in decades and giving us the very briefest hope that we might stay up last season.

Whenever we have a poor result or performance people are always quick to blame the formation, regardless of what we are playing. It was only a few weeks ago people we criticising Pardew for NOT playing 4-4-2. There have been a lot of poor performances this season playing 4-5-1 and I'm not a big fan of it. Lambert tends to get isolated on his own and we just end up hoofing it up to him. Not saying that doesn't happen with 4-4-2, but in some games we have tried both formations and that has looked better. Torquay on the JPT for instance. I wasn't there last night but looking at that team... Wotton and James aren't the moat gifted midfielders we've ever had. Lallana and Lambert have been looking jaded recently and Barnard is still getting used to our team (along with the entire defence). I'd stick with 4-4-2, but for Pete's sake give it time (and some better midfielders).

Really hope Reading don't stay up because of this.

It's the depression and the obsession with the League table which is irritating. It's form, it happens. Why can some people not seem to grasp this concept. The last 4 or 5 games is not the prededent for the rest of the season. 1-1 at Brentford isn't a bad result 1-1 at Millwall isn't a bad result 1-0 at Leeds is hardly a disaster 2-1 at Colchester again, not the end of the world Leeds made the playoffs, bully for them, but after our summer fire sale we had a much worse squad IMO. How well did Leeds do the season after without the 15 point deduction? Nothing is a guarantee. Wasn't refering to anyone specifically, just the general atmosphere of irrational depression.

Oh dear. Seems a lot of the people who took the playoffs as a given a month ago are now throwing the toys out. Get a grip people, that run of good form was NEVER going to last all season.

Antonio is out of contract in the summer, so we can get him in free if he wants to stay here. I agree with the Waigo start, Bonio off the bench philosophy.

Are you a drunk 5 year old? If that got you going, you'll wet yourself watching this one:

Sounds a bit 'Andres Escobar'. Has he scored any own goals recently?

If we get within 10 points of Charlton this season, I will streak around Fratton Park at 3.15 on the first Saturday of the new season. Or at least run around the block of flats which will be there come August.
-
If we are going to make the playoffs we will need to make up 13 points on the teams like Huddersfield and MK Dons. As such the results for teams like Southend and Orient are completely irrelevant.

I'm sure flares are banned at British football stadiums. Shame, really they look good. The trouble comes when this happens. A Man Utd fan chucked a flare on the pitch during an FA Cup match at SMS in 2005.

He's been on the bench the last two games, so there's no real reason why not. You could have said the same about Gillett and Holmes last week.

I am.

Jose Maria Lopez signs for USF1 according to wiki.

No it isn't. No he wasn't.

Based on the assumption that Rickie, Jaidi and Lallana will be rested, I would say something like: Davis Thomas - Fonte - Seaborne - Mills Waigo - James - Morgan - Holmes Barnard - Saga Subs: Bart, Semi, Wotton, Antonio, Lallana, Lambert, Gillett
-
On the flip side, we've got Antonio. Could cause more than a few problems.

Give Stoke £100k to loan Beattie for one match.

To the tune of "YMCA" surely??? With the dance moves of course.
