  1. Really hope this doesn't happen. Not just because Calum is a good player, but it means that the board literally doesn't give a f*ck and just wants to rake in the money.
  2. I saw that the other day, absolutely disgusting by the Israeli police. The actual event with this guy happened a couple of years ago, but it's still very relevant with this conflict.
  3. ....also, Joanna Lumley? In her day I mean..
  4. I hope the board reads this thread and makes a signing sharpish...
  5. Can't shoehorn Clyne in at LB to accommodate Chambers I think - it's one or the other for the RB spot as far as i'm concerned. I think Clyne is a better player, but Chambers is more consistent. I think what distinguishes the two of them in terms of them as footballers is their style of attacking play. Clyne brings the ball forward and hovers around the edge of the box looking to receive the ball to lay it off or put in a deep cross, whereas Chambers prefers to get to the byline and put the ball in. I think a lot will depend on that particular aspect of their play this season, because looking at the goals Pelle scored in Holland getting on the end of crosses is a big thing for him. I don't think too much else about them separates them apart from the size difference, although personally I think Clyne is a better defender - especially in one-on-one situations.
  6. Ok, so it's not a film soundtrack but i've been rewatching the anime Attack on Titan and the soundtrack is mindblowing. For a TV series it's excellent stuff!
  7. That's something that really annoys me about our fanbase (probably not just ours) - Lovren has acted like a tw4t, there's no denying that, but all the people tweeting personal abuse to him on an hourly basis isn't exactly going to make him change his mind or think of us in a fond light when he's left is it? He's a f*cking footballer, just grow up. Bringing his brother into it as well is a bit unnecessary as well - he hasn't done anything! Bet Lovren will be counting down the hours until he signs for Liverpool, and after what i've seen from our fans on Twitter and Instragram I can't really blame him..
  8. Jesus Christ, we're not still doing the "Give Sharp a chance!" routine are we?
  9. Might be getting ahead of myself based on 2x 45 minute appearances, but I think Pelle will be a really good signing for us. Links up play really well and not afraid to have a shot on goal either which is something I think we lacked from a striker last year. Him playing in front of Rodriguez, Tadic and Gaston could produce a lot of goals this season if we're lucky..
  10. In Holland sorting out his work permit apparently.
  11. Alvvays album came out on Spotify today - it's a good listen!
  12. Nastasic & Guidetti anyone?
  13. But the other type of accent is "grave" right? RIGHT?!?! (Today is a day for showing off for me)
  14. Probably posted this one before as well, but I just love The National. Perfect Sunday listening.
  15. *egoue If I remember my French lessons from school correctly...
  16. I think the operative word there is definitely "if" - could be agent talk, could be the fact that he's Serbian (like Tadic), could be the fact that people know we're looking for a left-back. The ITKs have said for a while we have enquiries in for players, although everyone is staying tight-lipped on names which naturally leads to speculation like this. A good LB is very hard to come by these days, which is part of the reason why Shaw cost so much. Still, I can't see us going for him, doesn't really fit our transfer policy (Pelle maybe being the exception to that as he's a goalscorer). Would like to see us go for somebody a bit younger with a better record personally.
  17. I don't know why people are so scared of relegation - if you look at teams like Burnley, Leicester, Villa, West Brom etc their squads are considerably weaker than ours. In fact, I can't really think of a player in their Starting XIs that I would put in our team apart from Vlaar, and even then we've been linked with him! We still have a month to bring players in, and I have absolutely no doubt that we'll stay up this season. Yes, we may have lost 3 key players but it's not like we have to play the season with 8 men. In a way I am quite pleased that we've not rushed into making a lot of signings - lots of teams would be panicked by fan reaction and try and placate them by signing lots of players (ala Sunderland last year). I would much rather take the time and choose the right targets to replace departing players than sign a load of sh!te purely to boost numbers. I know it's not going to happen, but people have to realise that we're barely even a 1/4 of our way through our pre-season schedule yet, so it's really quite irrational to panic over signings or a lack of at this point. Just have some patience, enjoy the pre-season games and wait to see how our team looks when we kick off against Liverpool a month today before getting worried.
  18. One of my favourite bands, their first album is still something I spin at least once a fortnight. This is the closing track, remember watching this live when I was about 14 and it blew my mind!
  19. I think Wanyama's performances in the second half of the season will go against that point, although he's not perfect by any means. He looked an awful lot better on the ball and also in his awareness when he came back from injury - something the coaches had clearly worked with him on. I'm not saying he's guaranteed to become a great player or anything, but he'd definitely do a job for us and has the potential to really kick on.
  20. In Caulker's defence, he is only 22 - that's very young for a CB. His first proper season in the Prem as well, in a team which leaked goals all year. Our centre backs got absolutely slaughtered when they made the step up from the Championship, but Fonte looks like he's played in the Prem his whole career now. I think the potential is definitely there for him to be a very good player, and he seems like a good bloke as well. Plus we have to factor in that our manager was a World Class defender in his day, and working with him would be an attractive prospect for young players out there.
  21. Ah right. Don't think we need another attacking midfielder, have quite a few options there already, and still some academy lads coming through.
  22. There's something about her voice that I absolutely love, really powerful but without being shouty.
  23. Might be spamming this thread, but f*ck it. Just stumbled across this band, couple of great songs but I think this is the jewel in the crown. Their album Absolute Zero is definitely worth a listen.
