  1. Now watch the media completely demonise everyone who is involved in the England team.. FWIW, I think Hodgson got the midfield wrong. Henderson and Gerrard works for Liverpool, but it's not mobile enough a partnership to have any influence at this level. Would've preferred to see Wilshere alongside Gerrard to provide a little bit of zip in the middle and to string some passes together. Gerrard's not got the legs to play the role he was trying to play at this WC either, he can't do that box-to-box role anymore. If you're going to play Gerrard in the middle, I think you've got to play him in a 3 with two players who can screen, stop wide players taking advantage of the space and can drop in to cover him when he gets forward. Wilshere and Milner/Barkley would be my choices personally, with Rooney Sturridge and Sterling up top. First goal was Baines ball-watching when he really should have followed in to the box. Jagielka will catch a lot of sh!t for both goals but is only really at fault for the second one. Lee Dixon said it perfectly on ITV post-match that he shouldn't step up when the ball was being contested by the players in front of him, because it just created a vacuum for Suarez to run into - when you're up against quality finishers like him you can't afford to give them the space to make those runs in behind. Ultimately it's a disappointing campaign for England, but if you look at the squad there are players there who will be coming into their prime by the time the next WC rolls around. Hodgson needs to take an axe to the squad for the Euro qualifiers - drop Gerrard, find a system that utilises the wide players best and doesn't leave the defenders having to do so much work to cover their ar5es.
  2. Vargas looks like a quality player, Napoli have loaned him out for the last couple of seasons so maybe if we wave a bit of money under their noses they'll take it? Can play wide or as a striker, and works very well in the system that Chile are playing.
  3. Oh christ, please don't join Twitter Glasgow, it's the one place I have left to read about Saints that you're not on.
  4. Plays for Schalke doesn't he? Would be a great signing, but unlikely!
  5. The lad's 21 though - plenty of time to improve on that aspect of his game. With a coach like Koeman to mentor him on the defensive art I think he could come on in leaps and bounds!
  6. Nah, we'll just call him RoKo. Sounds strangely familiar that..
  7. Golden posts?
  8. Taters spent a good chunk of time talking about Dos Santos' attitude and how he hasn't fitted in at any clubs apart from Villarreal. I'd give him a miss tbh. Hector Moreno wouldn't be a bad shout for CB though - left footed as well so we could fit Dejan onto his preferred side.
  9. Benn's not "sexy" enough for modern politics i'm afraid - although he would be best sensibly placed in the cabinet to exert a little bit of influence.
  10. He only got the job because Labour don't want to win until things are back on track. They'll chop him in a couple of years and install somebody who can actually win an election (Andy Burnham would be my choice, but they'll probably end up going for Yvette Cooper).
  11. Who would win in a fight between Baby Cambridge and Baby Zombie Ice Baby?
  12. Saw her on Jools Holland the other week and haven't been able to stop listening to her new album since then. Incredible stuff - especially that song.
  13. He did also get us our best ever Premier League finish tbf. We may have been used as a stepping stone, but so what? We're in a better position now than we were when he took over. Have to recognise what he achieved with us - even if he did jump ship to the first chequebook waved at him. Give him a little clap, and then a big chorus of "RONALD KOEMAN/MURAT YAKIN/GLENN HODDLE'S RED AND WHITE ARMY"
  14. Er....I take it back?
  15. Haha, I was planning on going to see Hibs a couple of times when I move but thinking twice about that now! I follow St Johnstone as my second team anyway, so may just wait until they play at Celtic Park for a proper day out. They've put a lot of money into it over the last few years, remember going there when I was about 8 or 9 and thinking what an absolute dump it was. Maybe I was just a snobby kid..haha! Looks like I will probably be living more Dalry/Gorgie way instead as my job is going to be out of town, so nice transport links with the Haymarket just down the road. Reckon they're hiring at the methadone clinic?
  16. Would take Kagawa if Lallana's definitely off, but hopefully we can keep Shaw & Adz!
  17. They really are excellent bike rides though tbf. Worth the money just for that.
  18. Definitely not if De Vrij is available. To be honest, I would probably rather coax Paul Williams out of retirement than sign Hangeland on the money he's going to want.
  19. And I appreciate your ability to create multiple aliases so that you can still post on here. Bit sad, isn't it?
  20. Course you can see it all in a day, he would've been at SMS for roughly 12.30-1pm, couple of hours talks there and an hour around staplewood then back at Heathrow for 7ish. Only an hour's flight from Dam, done it myself a couple of times. Anyway, not sure why you're concerned about managers Charlie, didn't Wenger just sign a new deal last week?
  21. Didn't think it looked like Gatwick! Could've been coming for an interview, but seems like we're going to have this wrapped up fairly soon.
  22. Dear Brian: brave and courage warrior with heart of great lion, The scourge of Titans vomit freely from their mouths the fallen bodies of our comrades in arms. Encased, are the bodies, in a sticky glue of sorts that forms into a ball. Surely we shall win our fight to exterminate from within our walls, the villainous Titans. Onward Brother! Cmdr Super Mikey 15th Battalion Survey Corps
  23. Hi Brian, thanks for your letter. The matter of why the titans eat humans is clarified later in the series, and it's not spoilery so I can tell you. They don't appear to eat people for nutrition or sustenance, as they don't have any digestive organs - they only seem to do it for sport. Kind of like giant retarded Predator babies, but they don't have guns and stuff. I'm afraid I can't tell you why they don't have any genitals though, that still remains a mystery to me. In relation to the thinking bits, I get what you mean. The fix is they need a narrator like in Arrested Development - I think they should get Ron Howard to do all the thinking parts in between fights and stuff. Also I did watch the reading version, because I watched a trailer for the English dub and it just sounded stupid to me. Voice acting is v good but it's very difficult to concentrate on knocking one out over Mikasa (the older version, before anyone comments) and reading about what she's thinking to herself while everything is slow mo. Yours Sincerely, SuperMichaelton
  24. It was definitely an experimental line-up by NA, and one that really didn't work. And to think how confident I was when Gaston scored that header (Gaston, scoring a header!?). They're an interesting lot though the Everton fans, the poor bloke who was running our coach kept getting calls on the way up giving him death threats from a bunch of Scouse lads. They called him when we were walking through the park as well from The Arkles to Goodison and scared the sh!t out of him by describing where the lot of us were walking through! All fart and no sh!t that lot though, most of their fans were either ancient or semi-foetal. Won't be rushing back there.
