  1. Most people are rightly outraged by the glib nature of this comment. But I'd like to say - he has a point. A rather unworkable, impractical and overtly idealistic point, but a point none-the-less. What SotonJoe misses is that most of these people aint muppets, but they have been mugged. We are regularly told to celebrate the forces (particularly in Hants where all three are very well represented) and thank the individual soldiers for their 'bravery'. When in truth it's not bravery that takes these boys and girls to Afghanistan or the Falklands (etc) its f*cking politics, greed and mantaining the balance of power for the elite (not protecting or providing 'freedom'). Sadly so many of our young people, each generation, are conned by the (inglorious) history of the glory of war and believe it is somehow noble to kill or be killed for 'queen and country'. Frankly, that is ********; nothing noble in dying in the desert with plastic in your chest. "To die for his mothers country is in every fathers wish" Hmmm And PS; I do hope he gets better but I've always considered Hartson to be a right twonk. ;-)
  2. ...Rightio. I just popped over the road to my school and asked 24 kids to draw/describe the Swiss flag on a piece of paper. 14 got it spot on. Two nearly got it right but did the cross all the way to the edges and three got it the wrong way round. The others barely even bothered to try - with one asking "why?" and another asking "what are you doing in our class sir, where's Mrs.Bryce?" So 14/24, so about 58% of kids actually know what the Swiss flag looks like. Although I am not in Southampton, where, I should imagine, many more kids are now aware of what the Swiss flag looks like.
  3. My guess is 85% of kids know what the Swiss flag looks like. I'll do a poll...
  4. Lucy's stock has gone down in our house since she failed to even slightly flash her boobs or indeed wear anything other than a big sweater on last years big brother. Even Polaroid Girl (the missus) was disapointed. hopefully she'll be a bit more fun in the 'new era'.
  5. I like this. the thing i really like is where you haven't quite finished re-colouring Wootons shorts, so it looks like he is wearing a yellow cape. kits with capes! it's the future of football. actual new away kit gets better every time i see it. retro.mmm.nice
  6. So,the first player to leave in the 'new era' is the one player most fans would agree, erm, didn't fit at Saints and wanted gone. Good luck Bradley, enjoy Plymouth (there's no beach btw) and i hope you grow as a person and a player.
  7. Liking all these rumours about WGS, I can be swayed by them and happy untill Adams is announced and then I could be disapointed and sad again. For what its worth; Dennis Wise is anything but thick - you might not like his ****ney barra boy personality or his history of rucks and 'pranks' but he is actually a very sharp chap now he has grown up. Wise and Le Saux dream time, maybe!?!? ;-)
  8. I LOL'd too Saintjay. I find myself giggling like a school girl in 'the real world' too if anyone, anyone, starts a sentence with "I ask myself..."
  9. Just seen Wotte being interviewed in his car, leaving staplewood for good. When asked who he thought Saints want as manaager he joked "Gus Hiddink? Oh no, he's Dutch, not good here!" See, these chaps would have got on, shame. ;-)
  10. I think the translation adds a certain something. All good stuff.
  11. stephen!
  12. Fair do's! But we do LIKE hysteria on these here message boards... ;-)
  13. This is what News International have "provisionally admitted" to, that is paying PI's to check unsecurred mailboxes. They have NOT admitted to bugging phones or paying any ex-military/police/service operatives to do it for them. oh no. they certainly haven't. Doesn't mean they haven't, dont or wont... ...goood tip about changing the PIN, but no need to defend the fourth estate. Newspaper professionals have long used self-serving, intrusive and oft-times illegal activities to get a good story. Having said all that, the Sun's journalism is very professional indeed, whilst the Mail is amongst the worst in the country. If there's a conflicting story in the two papers, I know which one I'd trust.
  14. Was classically and proverbably Over The Moon for a few hours on wednesday, although have been in a strange fug ever since. The sacking of Wotte has cheered me again yet I am nervous about new manager and what (who) they will bring to the new team. super happy about KD. prepared to trust Oldknow for now, Cortese looks the part (ie slightly menancing). all good wierd, can't let myself enjoy it too much yet...
  15. Well said GM. It's another case of money looking after money, the devil for his own. Fry's seeming 'lack of ability' appears to have contributed to whole debacle dragging on and on. Which in turn meant DmcG and Drew were sold to pay other wages (directly including Mr Fy's of course...)
  16. Wotte and Size or Coppel and Lita ??!?!?!
  17. Will Wotte resume his role with the academy? (I wrote that sentence for Jonathon Ross to say)
  18. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~1717161,00.html Lord Malwhinney (reddemed on these boards now shurely...) gives swiss the thumbs up. ;-) and Oldknow as COO.
  19. Thank F5uck. What a great day. Looking forward for the first time in moths if not years. Up The Saints And Welcome Markus!
