Was my first game that, paid on the day on the Archers road terrace, opposite side to where the cage was. Thought all saints games would be like that, boy did i learn fast it wasn't normal!

One of the few, if only, songs totally unique to us, one that's sung occasionally by the fans on away days (generally with a smaller support), and is widely liked by most people. As for the accent, that's just the Aampshire drawl mush, i'd imagine a significant number of us here have a version of it, we may as well own that instead of being plastic mockneys like the blue few.

is the right answer

Alan McLoughlin My question: who used to be a waiter before playing for Saints in the 90s
-
3/10, we look utterly disjointed as a team and collapse far too easily, the midfield still doesn't cover the defence properly and we lack leaders in the side (our spine is horrendous), aside from Ings we look unlikely to score from our strikers and i dread to think what happens when he gets injured. I predict we'll be bottom of the league for a spell in the next couple of months or so which'll hit the already weak confidence in the side.
-
Shame that just at the time that we need a calm leader in defence the club are forcing Yoshi out.
-
Might be a choice for you but it's not for me, i was born/grew up within a mile of the Dell and less than that of St Mary's, there is no other team than Saints for me. If (and i can see this happening at some point) i give up on the whole corrupt, sanitised, ruined shell of a game, then i give up completely, as football for me is an extension of the pride in my city, history, family and place of birth, and none of that is true of Eastleigh (or sholing for that matter).

Well that can f*ck right off. Jesus christ we've become the cliche for a modern football, americanised club since reaching the premier league haven't we? Clappers, that dog with the drum and now this. Part of me is genuinely disappointed we didn't get relegated to get some soul back.
-
Yup that's exactly my point (albeit put in a more cynical form) this is about entrenching power and money amongst those that feel threatened, and less about opening it up to more teams. I honestly believe this is the first shot across the bow for a European Super League, or at least proof they can get away with something based on revenue and team size, as opposed to the usual "meritocracy" that's understood to be what football's about. I also think that Wenger's comments before he retired about the European Super League being inevitable was based in more in him knowing something than just pure chance, and equally i'm absolutely sure the big clubs have already been sounded out on the potential of the idea.

They used to have those in the Northam and they didn't work, the main issue is payments, slow staff, staff that don't speak english properly (as has been the way this season) and not enough vending points. The easiest solutions is more vending points, including those "backpack people" they had at Reading away, more tills on the counters and generally better preparation (it's not like they don't know when they'll be busy). The quality of drinks issue is a different one, everyone will have an opinion on that but i assume the club will also be tied into long term contracts with providers so it'll be incredibly difficult to change right away.

From reading around the edges of this it seems to be targeting UEFA making as much money as possible from the big clubs (the original statement refers to the big clubs) so i'd imagine that means it'll be aimed at removing the rich clubs from the Champions League into their own tournament. If i was a cynic i'd say this is the beginning of a move towards a European Super League, and i doubt it'll help us really as it'll be about keeping the money in the pockets of the rich clubs. Also something that seems to have slipped through the net with all the talks about the game abroad for the Spanish league is that apparently UEFA are a long way down a route to playing the Champions League final in New York.
-
Yup but Long tracks back more than Gabbi and we look leaky as f*ck in that formation too.
-
We'd also definitely concede, but i'd rather see that formation than the safety first we've been doing for a while now.

The thing is there's some truth in that article, the problem is that they go for sensationalism and intentionally skirt over the reasons in cases it p*sses off all the plastic fans that read their site. The truth of the matter is there's no point for us really, same way there's no point for the majority of clubs in the football league. Money has f*cking ruined the game and it's only going to get worse. We can't compete, and when we do we raided and our players unsettled. The problem isn't Southampton, the problem is Sky/BT, overseas fans, foreign owners, bias of the press/media and greedy players and agents. But given football365 are owned by Sky they're never going to print that story are they? I mean imagine if they did? Imagine if the headline was "What's the point in most of these clubs because our owner have killed the sport as a competitive entity". It's not really going to fly is it? Sorry are you really trying to say that's a bad thing? What you expect them to compete for the title every year? Or do you think top four is better than winning it once in your lifetime and living off that past glory? Jesus f*cking christ some of our fans are absolutely batsh*t mental. This isn't a computer game, it's basically unheard of to do what Leicester did, and it most likely won't happen again in my lifetime. Everyone, and i mean everyone, would take that without even thinking.

Only if we do the actions too
-
I'll be seriously f*cked off if it does, i've bought train tickets and match ticket for it already and i can't imagine they'll refund me the cost.

Loved that game, was in block 5 of the Archers for that and remember seeing the faces of the Geordies close up who just couldn't believe what had happened, from then on in the Archers stood all game and we could make one hell of a racket in the bikeshed when we wanted to. To this day i refuse to acknowledge the goals against Brighton in the "curtain closer" for the Dell. Le God scored the last ever goal there. Anything else isn't important. Think there might be a photo of that somewhere which i can see myself in, another of those amazing games. God no! I loved the Dell, and still love the Dell, and if i'm honest i'd go back there in a shot and say f*ck it to the relegation it'd inevitably cause

He's finally over come his *sniff* injury *sniff* but is behind Trent Alexander Arnold Damn the hayfever must be sticking around longer this year *sniff*

How the f*ck did i forget Le Tiss against Arsenal!! What a feeling that was, and what a night out it was after (think i still owe Hammy an apology for my state when i made it to the Dorch) To be fair i could do a top five of just Le Tiss goals alone. The three i'm gutted i never made were Moran, Stokes and Monkou in the 5-4
-
Not in order but, Le Tiss at home to Newcastle Long at Anfield in the cup Barry Horne and his worldy Pahars against Everton Gabbi's second at Wembley in the league cup final. There's f*cking hundreds more too but those were the first that fell out the memory banks.
-
Jesus those stats are grim and make you realise how far we've fallen and how quickly, we've almost halved the amount of points we're getting at home between Koeman and Pellegrino.
-
Our away support can be woeful at times, and ironically the bigger it is the worse it is. There's certain games though where you can normally predict it'll be poor, Arsenal is one of them, we definitely travel in much, much bigger numbers than we used to though. I can remember being part of what couldn't have been more than 200 saints away to leeds midweek in the late 90s (Carlton Palmers first game back there), and for some reason Everton always seemed to be a dismal showing. We've definitely improved on that now, and most games we take the full allocation, although still have our embarrassing moments (not selling the larger allocation at Anfield in the league cup semi for example). Anyway to the original posters question you answered it yourself, away from home we play on the break and teams attack us more leaving space, we're at our worst trying to break sides down, hence why our home form is worse than our away form. Under Pochettino and Koeman it didn't matter because we had better players who could get through the "bus parking" now we have far more average players the result is as you'd expect.

I've been waiting for the whispering campaign about Yoshi's behaviour to start coming out of the club, can only be a matter of time (and no he's not acting badly before people jump to conclusions).

Believed their own hype and thought they were something special, instead of the reality of being 20 chavs in fancy dress with a drum who play fancy dress at the weekend. Apparently they’re protesting against the club, which is clearly terrible for the club, as they’ve just sold their seats to other people instead. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
