Barnard isn't good enough and nostalgia has no place in the team. He probably wasn't even good enough for the top half of the championship but due to being injured/in court didn't have a chance to show that, so people still love him from league one. As with so many of our players that seem to be loved on here i feel it's probably worth pointing out again that running around a lot doesn't really make you a good footballer or Brett Ormerod would've played for Barcelona.

Is it time yet to break out this ditty at st mary's? We fuc.king won. We fuc.king won. Pompey are bankrupt. We fuc.king won.

God i wish people would stop judging football on a fu.cking spreadsheet, it's about as interesting and relevant as judging sex on the census. As for Brighton, they're meh', i think the town is awesome and always had a good laugh on nights out there (so many fit women there too it's stupid). Never felt much about the club expect when they were in trouble and i wanted them to survive. Bit like Bournemouth really, a nice club with generally decent fans who i want to do well as they're south coast. They (in brighton's case) have a bit of a bell end for a manager (much like the cherries do for a chairman) but as others have said that's not really a rivalry. Was pretty surprised by how much they tried to jump on us as a rivalry actually, since i'd expect from a small club like bournemouth but brighton don't have a bad history and actually have real rivals.

It's more because him and people like him sap the fun, humour and character out of the game. It's been a trend ever since Fantasy Football in the 90's and the move from being a game you watch with your mates, having a laugh and a **** up, to one that's the domain of the office geek who quotes every stat under the sun - despite being such a fat mess/social retard they've never played the game themselves - and thinks they know something more than the equivalent of any spreadsheet ever made. Add to that the insanely boring posting style, lack of humour/banter/wit and seemingly Stalinish levels of complete delusion (or if you want to be more cynical propaganda) and i think he's far worse to this place than any wum merchant. To be fair i'd happily share a beer with Turkish et al since i know they'd rip the **** and have a laugh, i think if i went for a beer with MLG i'd either want to kill him for being so dull any women in a 90 mile radius had walked off, or i'd have drunk myself unconscious as a means of surviving the night.

Summer 2012 HCDAJFU Thread - Premier League Special Edition
ericb replied to Jimmy_D's topic in The Saints
According to one of those twitter agents we've made an official approach for Michu -
Swindon away was probably my worst moment as a saints fan, i've never seen such an abject and embarrassing performance in my life. A gutless spiritless team, torn a new one by an ok Swindon side. A total embarrassment of a game and i seriously thought we were in for a tough, tough season. Pompey away for the bubble was another low, but that's mainly cause the police fu.cked up what is normally one of the best away games you can possibly do.

Funny how pretty much the whole industry you're trying to learn works off macs isn't it? Not saying that's a reason to get them, and i'm in no way a fanboy, but i think it's incredibly arrogant to tell someone to watch a youtube video. Oh and a pro tip by the way, most of those youtube videos/blog articles are terrible and you're just learning the bad habits of the people teaching them. Buy a book or take a course, it's always a better way of learning. Again depends what you use it for, for surfing and office type stuff an air will be more than good enough, plus lightweight and portable. Personally i use it daily for work and use the full adobe creative suite so need a more substantial machine, hence i tend to go for MBP, and the retina screen would be an incredible asset to me, but i don't really see the justification for it if you're on a budget and a standard user. If you are worried about price by the way look at the Apple reconditioned store, much cheaper and you get a completely reliable machine with warranty too.

Anyone disagree with the assessment inThe Echo - including the leavers?
ericb replied to Professor's topic in The Saints
it's actually hilarious, try and take in a balanced opinion that we might not be the best thing since sliced bread and you're hounded out of the place! God knows how some of these people would've coped last time we were in the top flight, mind you i don't remember chatting to many completely doublespeak minded saints fans back then, we were a much more reasonable; rational; happy lot who didn't have delusions of grandeur (now i'll wait to be accused of a small time dell mentality). Still it provides amusement at least so carry on. -

To be honest i'm not arguing he wasn't good for us at times, i just think he's not actually good enough for the prem', and that's as much as anything down to his woeful ability to keep hold of the ball. Now away against palace is one thing, if you lose it then you'll probably get it back again quickly, but against sides in the premiership (and yes i do include teams like stoke in that) if we lose it we're going to really struggle to get it back. Agree on Norwich, Reading and maybe Wigan (if they lose moses) but the other teams are still a lot better than us. To mention Stoke is madness for a start, the way they've established themselves as a mid table side says everything and i'd be very impressed if we took even 4 points off them as things stand. I really do think there are some in for a reality shock since we're used to seeing our team against a fairly poor standard of teams who give us time and space, we aren't as good as people think. Mind you i really do hope i'm eating these words come the end of the season. -

Perhaps that's true but then many will point to us holding our own for 60mins against united in a cup game as a reason our players are good enough. Personally i think watching the team over the course of the season home and away is my rationale. Aside from probably 5/6 (pre jay rod) players most are championship players at best. Now i'm hoping that Adkins/Cortesee think the same and strengthen since we really are stepping up against in next season. I mean is anyone else not filled with dread at the prospect of a first team starting against Man City that might include Hammond, Richardson, Fonte and Davis? As good as some of those players have been last season i'm personally terrified of how easily they'll get found out and taken apart by good players. Oh and then there'd be a bench that would include Chaplow and Seaborne... -

I'd be incredibly dissapointed if Hammond was anywhere near the team next season, he's not good enough for the prem in the slightest and is at best a journeyman championship player. For me he needs to be got rid of, Chaplow would make a passable back up in the premier league but even with him i'd prefer to find someone better. Neither of those two have the ability to keep the ball well enough for the premier league and they are both more than a little reckless in the tackle which'll lead to suspensions in the premier league. To be honest with you i really think we're going to struggle since a hell of a lot of our squad isn't up to it and without at least four more signings i don't think we're up to the quality needed to stay up. It's an unpopular point of view i know but i think a realistic one based on the quality of our players. -
There's a post on Ugly Inside that we've bid £3m for K Schmeichal
ericb replied to HurleyBurley's topic in The Saints
To be fair the level of footballing knowledge on the Ugly is far, far higher than here for some reason. There's less of the knee jerk reaction and more of sensible comment and level headed looking at Saints (when they talk football anyway). Mind you it's also an older lot who don't obsess over spreadsheets masquerading as computer games so it's not a massive surprise really. Oh and unlike this mong board it's much funnier too. -
Both of those are top sons to be fair. And of course the plus side is that we could probably sing Sally Cinnamon better than Ian Brown
-
Yup lbi mate, but i'm guessing you've been in already

Chelsea are pitching for a redesign at the moment and both Man U and Arsenal are dated, the equivalent of a team kit by someone like Umbro. I'd imagine there's been a large amount of research into users on the new football league template and it does a good job of displaying the content in a good way, the problem they have seems to be to be the need to get everything above the fold on low res screens. It's also i'm guessing a case of the browser you see it on, if you're viewing on an old version of IE on something like XP you'll have a far worse user experience than if you're viewing it on something like the latest edition of chrome. This is actually a standard industry technique now and in many cases it's actually expected that IE users will have a worse experience than people using decent modern browsers because IE just can't do the same things modern browsers can.
-
If that's been done by Sapient Nitro as someone said i'm very surprised, they're one of the top three agencies in the country and normal produce a much higher standard than that. Obviously the splash screen still ruins it and there are some nice features - they've cleaned up the nav for a start - but i'd hazard a guess the clutter is because the client (football league) wants everything above the fold.

The pride is off brick lane, decent beer, cheaper than the alex in southampton and good people that run it. I drink in there fairly regularly to be honest and would recommend it highly.
-
The ward-prose one is worth it alone, ****.ing hilarious! I really hope that's above the away gate and we get the skates in the cup. Can you imagine their reaction on seeing that on the way in? Priceless... Got to be honest i do think they're a little mickey mouse in general but we're back in the land of hype and bullsh/it so it's hardly a surprise. Don't really get the people who are backing this branding stuff so much, surely any intelligent person can see through this kind of rubbish, mind you there are many people that walk around as an advertising hoarding for brands so maybe not.
-
Quite simply Hammond isn't up to it, and Chaplow is a bit part player at best. The amount the later gave the ball away cheaply in the championship won't have gone unnoticed, do that in the prem and we'll get murdered. Of course he runs around a lot so most saints fans think he's the second coming and i'll get a barrage of abuse for this, in the same way i did when i suggested Jaidi was a distance off being good enough for the championship.
-
Does anyone else find grown men getting so wound up by a football shirt a bit odd or is it just me? Personally i couldn't really care less what it is since it's more about the team. Mind you we'd be ****/ed if they changed it too much since so many of our songs include something to do with red/white.
-
To be honest i've always thought now is the perfect chance for Rangers to try their hand at the english leagues. Think about it, two year ban from Europe so no way they can get back in anyway and that would put them most likely a season away (at most) from the premiership. Any clever owner would be looking at that as an option over rejoining the SPL if you ask me.

Weekend Offender seem a really chavvy brand to me, they lack the style of a lot of the other stuff & are basically aimed at kids playing dress up hoolie. OTS have some nice bits but i don't think they last brilliantly, much rather go for the Norse Project stuff even if it is more pricey

The Clarks Oi Polloi range are ****ing lovely, i've been eyeing up a pair in sand for a while. I know a lot of people still associate them with school but the quality of the shoe is second to none and the cut and design is lovely. Personally i bought some Red Wing boots for the winter but they're a bit warm now, was looking at the Gazelle Indoors, with the gum sole the other week for the summer months but fuc.k they're pricey. Also got a Penfeld anarok that's really nice and been getting into the One True Saxon stuff a bit recently. In terms of outerwear i'm a fan of the Norse Project stuff, bit heavy for the summer i guess but the jumpers are a really great cut. Stutterheim have got some nice raincoats out for the summer too, but again cost might hold me back, quality cut mind. Shirts wise i'm getting into my Supreme stuff right now, their thick checked shirts are class and they do some good polo's too. Also been really getting into Folk's stuff since working close to their flagship store in London. Need a new pair of jeans and have been thinking about a nice pair of either Levi's or a classic pair of Lee's (with a small turn up). Could be an expensive summer to be fair!

Cheers mate, it's a topic very close to my heart as i know a few disabled fans and know just how passionate they are, and how much more of an effort they make (if you want to call anyone a superfan look right there!). Know what you mean about the not wanting credit thing, it really is enough just to help out and i think it's the least any decent person would do. Not least i don't think people understand the release this gives to the full time carers that look after them. Many forget that it's not just the financial burden many of these people feel (and believe me that's depressingly more real now the tories are in power) but also the amount of time they give. Those people are truly saints for what they give to friends, relatives or just because they care. As for knowing me i have no doubt you do but i'm not one for sharing my name on a public forum! Let's just say if you drove the minibus in the past then i've probably travelled in it with you. I've been helping out with the blind society at the football since the early 90's on and off and knew Ron F very, very well (what an incredible man he is, never asked for anything and gave up so much of his time to people less fortunate). Those radios are truly shocking btw and i can't believe the club don't do anything about them! The stewards on the other hand really are superb and it was nice to see one of them patting the fella i know on the back as he made his way onto the pitch this season, if only the club followed their attitude i'd believe we were really going in the right direction re:disabilities!
