He's not terrible. He does offer something to the team. He's just not on form, like many of our players at the moment. Fans are so quick to forget; last season he was one of our top performers and we were all praising AP at what a good signing he was. I totally agree that so far this season he's been a shadow of his former self, but we all know what he is capable of. Do we all think Lambert is **** and offers nothing to the team just because he's not at the top of his game right now? Or Fonte?

Fair point. Davis will always make cracking saves, he's reliable on that front. However, I'm just really keen to see Bart given a go. I don't think KD commands his area like Bart does, and Davis' kicking is still woeful.

Missing those two really is making a big difference, but I think it's also down to Lambert being unfit and apparently uninterested, Lallana's absence, Fonte's poor form, Hammonds disappearance, Pardews sacking, Puncheons woeful performances and the whole teams lack of determination. It's just not happening for any players at the moment to be honest. However, all those things are things which can be fixed so it's not time to get the razor blades out just yet.

The following players need dropping IMO, Davis, Fonte (pains me to say it), Puncheon (complete liability at the moment) Hammond and Lambert. Christ they're all bloody good players but they're just not performing at the moment. Trouble is, we don't have many options to replace them. Good luck Nigel!

Blame Pardew all you like but last season we were the second best team in this League behind Norwich. Last season was great, there's no denying that. Now? We're ****. Not sure how that's AP's fault.

Mate, it's one game. It's just totally bizarre to ask this question after one defeat's worth of stats, and in fact raising it makes you look like the one with an agenda. Don't mean to have a go, it's just this forum is unbelievable at the moment - questioning a manager before he's even arrived based on nothing concrete.

Why is this suddenly the buzz word for Saints fans? It's all I ever read on here nowadays. We're getting a manager (allegedly) from a higher league than we're playing in, but some people still want more. We're a League 1 club with League 1 players (playing like League 2 players right now) - we have absolutely no divine right to a "big name" manager.

I think it's a mixture of both. Our preseason was pretty poor on reflection, but I think Pardew would have sorted it out if he hadn't been shown the door. That's all if's and but's now, so there's no way of knowing, but after the 4-0 victory against Rovers it was clear the team were still playing for Pards, and playing very well. Now we need to bring in Adkins fast. We can't have another week being prepared by Wilkins.

Their chairman has accused big bad Cortese of naughty things. It's all nonsense I reckon, and a bit embarrassing for Mr Wharton.

If played in the right position by the complete moron that is George Burley, he would have been a great player for us (well, maybe not great, but certainly good). He scores a hat full of goals in an attacking midfield position under Burley at Hearts, so where does he play him at Saints? Left back. *bangs head against wall smiley thingy* Good luck to him, he was always a trier, despite being misused here.

I guess the messages of appreciation for Pardew came in the form of all the "WHAT THE F**K? WHY THE BLOODY HELL HAS HE BEEN SACKED?? :frown:" comments which were posted in the AP has been sacked thread.
