Because what he is doing is playing along to his contract; a contract which looks like now has relatively little input into transfer activity. He is doing what he's paid to do; coach the team. The squad that has been put together by others is disjointed and not good enough; particularly in areas that the manager identified needed strengthening, and weren't. He hasn't said he believes in what others closely associated to his role are doing. Again; yes. His "control the controllablles" statement. He thinks he's doing all he can with a substandard squad. He's been let down by others. Perhaps.

Yep, agree with that. Even out of position and from the limited appearances I've seen of him I think he could be a really good addition to the side and a genuine option down the right side. While Ramirez is out, and playing at home, I wouldn't be averse to seeing Mayuka right, Puncheon left and Lallana in the #10 role. Puncheon would arguably offer better defensive support to Fox than Lallana has. That said; I dread to think what's going to happen tomorrow with Bale and Lennon attacking out full backs. Gulp.

Yes. One is a winger, one is a striker. I'd been wanting us to try out Mayuka instead of Puncheon. Given that we're not going to play 442 its the only place he'll likely get given a chance. He came on against West Ham, I wasn't at the game but reports on here said he looked average and out of position. Yep. That would have been around £28M spent on attackers and attacking midfielders and £6M - £7M spent on a higher number of goalkeepers, defenders and defensive midfielders. An even more lopsided transfer approach.

Just bizarre. He started by asking me why I had called him a skate (I hadn't) and suggested that we should "meet up" to discuss it. Then other random clutter which I deleted without responding.
